  1. Do the slot machines on the Carnival pride take coins, bills or only funds on your S&S card? We have a large container of coins that I was going to use for slots as I am not a big gambler. Never even been to a casino before!

  2. This may be a crazy question, but if you have 4 people taking the jitney, can you use a $5 bill for all 4 or do you need to pay $1.25 for each one separately? Just wanted to make sure that I take the correct cash!

  3. My family is interested in an airboat ride while stopping in Port Canaveral. I had decided on the 1 hr ride with Lone Cabbage Fish Camp as I see that is very popular on CC. When I called for a reservation they said that they do not take reservations for the 1 hr smaller boats on days that cruise ships are in port. I would have to show up for the shorter 30 minute ride without a reservation. Tripadvisor has Grasshopper Airboats listed a the #1 attraction in Cocoa and they provide a personalized 1 hr ride, but I do not see that mentioned on these CC boards and it appears to be a smaller operation. Is the 30 minute ride at Lone Cabbage worth it or would we enjoy the Grasshopper Airboats more?

  4. I was looking at posts regarding the Carnival bingo and it looks to be expensive. How many games do you get to play? Do you feel that it is worth it to try once on the cruise? My daughter loves to play bingo, but is only 15. Do you have to be a certain age to play?

    Thanks!

  5. We have requested ATD, although we are on the waitlist so I don't know for sure that is what we will be assigned. I have heard a lot of people that enjoyed having the same waitstaff for the week and getting to know them. With ATD, is it possible to request the same area and waitstaff each evening?

  6. We will be traveling with a 15 year old and 12 year old. I am considering the steakhouse for one night, but what about the kids? I noticed someone else mentioned that their kids ate in the MDR that night. Did they go on their own or with other teens (Circle C or Club O2 group)?

  7. The early saver rate must be why you got the OBC. The original post questioned without the early saver rate which is why I wanted to make sure that they understood the consequences after the final payment date. I have been disappointed with Carnival's response because in talking with others and my travel agent, Carnival is one of the few lines that is so strict about no compensation, not even partial for such a dramatic price increase 4 days after booking. But as I mentioned, I learned my lesson the hard way!

Is there any way that you can see your on board credits that have been applied against your account online or do you have to wait until you board the ship? I was supposed to receive a $75 OBC from the travel agent when I booked, but would like to confirm that it has been applied before I leave.

  8. If you don't have the early saver rate and have already passed the final payment date, you will not get OBC for any price reductions. I know from experience! I booked my first cruise on July 10, one day before the final payment date so I paid in full. Four days later the price of my category went down $600! I couldn't believe it! I called my travel agent twice as well as Carnival twice, and every time was told that I was out of luck, I couldn't even get partial OBC. It has made me sick to know that if I just waited 4 days I would have saved $600 and has really put a damper on my excitement. I know once I get on the ship I will enjoy it, but I seriously doubt that I will cruise with Carnival again. I have learned a lot from this first time!

  9. Thank you all for your helpful advice!! I am really looking forward to our first cruise and may overanalyze things in all of my preparations! I am an accountant and feel like I have to research everything! I am sure once we get on the ship 90% of the questions or concerns that I had will melt away!! Can't wait!!

  10. Hello everyone! We will be leaving on our first cruise with Carnival on Aug. 3rd. I have two children ages 12 and 15. My daughter will be turning 15 on the day that we leave, so I don't know if she will stay down in the Circle C group with her brother or move up to O2. My concern is how do we keep up with them while on the ship? If they go to an event, how will they know where to meet up with us or let us know if they are doing another event? Since cell phones don't work we can't use that option. I had thought of my son's walkie-talkies, but there are only two of them and they may be hard to keep up with while they are doing activities. Any suggestions?

  11. I have been looking online for staterooms on ships leaving from Baltimore the weeks of July 27th or Aug 3rd. I know that it is last minute and there are not many rooms left, but the prices seem a lot higher than what I was expecting. $3,800 including tax for a balcony room in a not so ideal location. Is that normal? Where is the best place to get a good value on a last minute stateroom?

    Thanks!

  12. I am planning my first cruise with the family and it is last minute! I am looking at going in 3 weeks and I do not have passports for my 3 children. I thought that I may need to go to DC to get the expedited passports, but a friend told me that children only need a birth certificate and photo ID to travel. We will be going from Baltimore to the Bahamas. Is that correct?

Also, this same individual said that they recently took this same trip and men wore slacks and collared shirt for the formal nights and women wore normal dresses, not formal cocktail attire. Is that correct on the Carnival Pride?

    Thanks!

  13. Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and new to sailing. I am trying to plan a cruise out of Baltimore either to the Bahamas or Bermuda. As I am last minute, it is looking like Bermuda may already be full. This will be for myself, my husband and our kids that are 15 and 12. Which destination would you recommend and would you recommend either RC Grandeur or Carnival Pride? What is the best site to get good last minute reservations for within 2-3 weeks. I appreciate any advice that you can give! Thanks!!
