  1. LOL....and your responses are obnoxious....get over yourself. Learn to be tolerant of other people...its a two-way street.

OH MY GOD!!! SOMEONE IS SMOKING a CIGAR OUTSIDE!!! (AS you sail on a traveling human waste production vessiel and massive carbon burning ocean hole cutting machine)

You probably get more toxins in your body at the buffet than being 3 balconies over from a cigar smoker....

This is the BEST thing I have read ALL day. I love it!!!!

  2. Well I just cancelled a cruise on Carnival AND a cruise on Royal Caribbean due to their smoking policy. We will be moving to NCL and hope we like them since they are obviously more open to different types of people.

We also very much enjoy the casino and have heard great things about their casino perks and that you can actually win. Carnival has terrible slot machines and not very good perks.

Looking forward to trying a new cruise line.

  3. I did suggest a compromise but you are right, nobody wants to hear it because the "us against them mentality" gets in the way. If the cruise lines would carve out a portion of the balcony rooms to allow for smokers they will all be grouped together which means nobody would be offended. The balcony is my only complaint to the rule, all other places are banned other than the casino and I have no issue with this policy.

  4. Well I know of at least 10 people who cancelled cruises with RC when they came out with their nonsmoking policy, which by the way was not posted very well on their website. There are still many smokers in the US that would like to vacation and be treated with respect as MOST of them respect nonsmokers. Smoking on your balcony is not a health risk to any passenger. Carnival is trying this again when it failed in 2011. What should they ban next, drinking? How many drunks do you see on a normal cruise but guess that is how they make money so it is fine. As long as smoking is legal then I believe smokers should have rights as long as they are courteous and don't smoke in public areas. I have many nonsmoking friends but they believe in equality. Instead of making these drastic decisions why not find a compromise like certain balconies are smoking and certain one's are not. Guess that is too democratic, better to just make a blanket rule then reverse it in a year.

  5. I am so outraged at Carnival and Royal Caribbean for treating smokers like criminals with no rights. Guess that smoke floating in the air from a balcony is going to kill the people next door, right? I am a courteous smoker and never smoke in public places or my stateroom but being told I cannot smoke on my private balcony or outside is ridiculus. Good for people for not smoking, it is not healthy. Much better to stuff yourself with food at every opportunity and drink yourself into a stupor but God forbid you are exposed to a puff of smoke floating in the air. If you don't like smoking in the casino, don't go! There are lots of other places on the ship. We are avid cruisers but will NOT be going on Carnival or RC in the future to just be treated as unwanted. Will be moving our business to NCL where they actually believe in equal rights it would seem. All you nonsmokers, enjoy all the kids running rampant and your buffets. You win!
