At this point, as long as you have an acceptable 'quarantine plan' which you will submit via the ArriveCAN app, you should be able to quarantine at home.  Just need to be mindful that results can take between 24-72hours to come back, in case you need to take more time off work after vacation.

This will make it very difficult if your flying into Vancouver from Australia 48 hours before your cruise.

  2. Hello from Australia,  Im hoping everyone is staying safe. We are gradually getting into a complete lock down. We have a family member who is a Intensive Care paramedic who has been tested and isolated twice. Very worrying. We are being positive that we will all recover from this terrible situation.

We were travelling with friends doing land tours and cruising, they have not cruised before with Princess,  we were all excited and doing a countdown for our June Alaskan cruise.  We are disappointed that we had to cancel. We have now rebooked for 2021 after working through a nightmare of non refundable excursions, hotels and some flights. Fingers crossed it all works out. Please stay safe and health

Do you recommend any of them? Or will the lanyard be sufficient?

Davis2010, We ordered the lanyard, but wont use it. We will either have it in a pocket or a little purse I use that fits my phone . A lot of people have gone for a variety of items sports bands etc. So totally up to you. A lanyard will work because its around your neck, like the old cruise cards.

New to Princess and the Medallion. We are sailing the Ruby Princess in May. How do I know which pieces are needed to order for the medallion? It gives an option for bracelet, clip, lanyard insert, pendant and sports band?

You can choose what suits you best. Lanyard is free, the others you pay for.

How many days is your cruise, our offer was $410 per person for 12 days,  so not worth when we don't drink much.

    Thanks

Our cruise is for 7 days. We would have at least 2 glasses of wine each, I drink coffee would have 2 speciality ones a day, my husband only has juice plus bottled water.  It works out to roughly $A26 per day each, 1 glass of wine is approx $A17. This also includes wifi which is approx $A14 a day. Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise.

Only just today I have written to my TA about this. In all the emails and booklet I received in the mail, the Oceans of Offers includes the Beverage package and the Net, not gratuities. I have asked my TA to find out the cost per day for us to get this deal for the two cruises we have booked, one being the Baltics in July. There are other threads on here about people doing this and what the daily rate is for each of the inclusions.

As gratuities is not mentioned in the deal in Aust I have given up on that. I long ago gave up expecting us to get the same deals as US travellers but I have been pleasantly surprised that after all these years we now have a chance of having the beverage package included. Perhaps Princess realised that they were losing out to other lines that give us this option. As we like a drink without being drunks, and we use the Net, then we have to work out if the extra cost is worth it, which on first glance it is. Firstly though, I have to see if my TA can get Princess to let us add it on our booked cruises. I've already re-fared the Baltics cruise recently when I noted the fares had dropped $250pp for the cabin next to ours.

leck57 we were able to do this. The extra cost has been added to our booked cruise to Alaska, we also refared when i noted a price drop. We like a drink also, the cost worked out to be $A370 per couple for us. Your cost will depend on your fare. Hope you get a good deal.

Which cruise? All I could see is the Australian sale worded as:

    "Oceans of Offers

    Our Best Sale Ever"

which may not be the same as the US "Best Sale Ever".

Hope your TA can get a deal for you though.

OzKiwiJJ, we were able to get the beverage and wifi package but not the gratuities at a really good price. We are wine and coffee drinkers so this suits us. We refared a couple of months ago when there was a price drop so that difference takes care of part of the gratuities.

    Pharry,

Unfortunately we come the "Land Down Under", where Princess is not so kind to us. Whilst we currently have a similar Best Sale Ever, ours only has WiFi and Drinks Package included. Alas, possibly because there is no Gratuities for Australian based Cruises, we don't get free Gratuities, which would make it worthwhile for those that do not partake in Alcohol, and taking non-Australian Based Cruises.

Thanks Fosters 1951, apparentley our cruise, which is to Alaska doesnt qualify for the Best Sale Ever benifits because no packages were "on sale" when we booked. It seems it doesnt always pay to book your cruise 12 months out. 🤔

I believe the Best2DG and Best2DW (note the insertion of "2") are only for fares that already have the other perk already -- Wifi for the Best2DG and gratuities for Best2DW. IOW they are not intended to let you pick and choose, but only to make up the difference so you cruise will be all-inclusive.

Wishing you luck applying add-ons down below.

Thank you for the additional information, based on this it doesnt seem as though it will apply to us. Thanks again for the info 🤔

I also called to "add" Best Sale Ever to my existing reservation. I was told by Princess that can not be done. After reading through threads on CC, I knew that it could. I told the rep the code to use and he was shocked that it worked. I guess that we all learn something new every day. For us, it added an extra $600 to the fare, however on a 10 day $300 would be gratuities so for $150pp or $15 per day we scored the drink package. That is a win in my book! Thank you Cruise Critic!

Thanks for this information,  we are trying to get this for our June cruise. We were wondering what code you used please. Thanks in advance Tricia.

  11. Hi everyone. Having spent all day comparing travel insurers here in Australia, I decided to ask the question: who do you insure with and have you made a claim without too much stress? The cost seems to vary wildly for much the same thing but one company I phoned wanted to know almost every visit I had made to a doctor in the past five years! This seems ridiculous for a 57 years young, reasonably healthy person. I have never been asked this before.

All suggestions appreciated. We are going on a 13 night NZ cruise next October.

We go through our bank, they use Allianze. We had a issue with our adult son before we went on a cruise in June, he had a serious leg injury. They were excellent , they were very compassionate with him and very accommodating in making sure he was still able to travel with us. Good luck. Have a great cruise.

  12. We bought our tickets online. http://Www.recreation.gov is the website. We purchased Passport to Pearl Harbor which enables us to go to all areas . We were allocated a time to visit the USS Arizona we will plan the rest of the tour around that tour. Last time we went with our children we had at least a 2 hour wait for Arizona with no guarantee we would be able to see it ,which we didn't. . This time we decided to pre book so we didn't miss out. We will catch a taxi to get there. After the research I did this was the best option .

  13. Looking at 3 Alaska cruises, first time. August 2017. Celebrity Solstice, Tracy Arm Fjord Cruise. Royal Caribbean, Explorer of the Seas, Alaska Glacier. Norwegian Pearl, 7 day Glacier Bay. Any thoughts. Itinerary okay ? Difference mainly in the ship ? Thanks, Gerry.

Hello Gerry, It depends on what is important to you. I researched the itinerary then decided what I really wanted to see. We chose to see Glacier Bay on recommendations from friends and review I'd read on Trip Advisor forums. I'm so glad we did it is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful . Not all cruise ships are able to enter Glacier Bay. We went with Princess, only because of the itinerary even though we did enjoy the ship. Also check out destinations on Cruise Critic message boards. Hope this helps , good luck. Tricia.

  14. I'm not sure what is provided in the lunches, but since the POA never leaves US waters you are allowed to bring food from the ship with you (unlike most cruises where you cannot take food off of ships), in case the provided lunch isn't to your liking. We did all but one of our excursions on our own (rented cars) and a couple times we brought snacks from the ship with us.

    ~Katy

Thanks Katy, we haven't cruised on POA before, I assumed it would be like other cruises with not being able to take food off. Will take some snacks with us.
