  1. If you are going to Roatan on Carnival you will stop at Mahogany Bay. Carnival built this port. There is a huge beach on an island right next to the port. You can walk over a bridge or take a cable car there. You can go back and forth or the cable car for no extra charge after you pay once. Don't know what they charge for the cable car now, when we went, a long time ago, it was $5.

It is a LONG tender ride into Belize and there are no beaches near the port. You can take a ship's tour or a water taxi to an island with beaches. Or, go cave tubing. That is lots of fun. You have a 20-30 minute walk thru the rainforest to the river. You can do the same tour for a lot less $$ and fewer people than the ship's tour if you just google cave tubing, Belize.

In Cozumel, you dock with lots of shops, no beaches right there. A cab will take you to the beach you want.

Check out the ports here on CC. This will name beaches in each port.

    Thanks Bonnie!

  2. We are headed to Cozumel in April and are considering doing Chankanaab on our own. We are a family of 5 so prices add up quickly. I found the prices for the online packages for the dolphin swims. I've been trying to find how much the other things cost but can't find those prices listed anywhere. I'm looking at things like zip lining, snorkeling, the buffet, and the different animal swims and pictures purchased onsite instead of online. Thanks!
Looks like no one responded. What did you end up doing?

  3. I can’t help with Chank but PB is fabulous from our experiences. We have two kiddos who absolutely love it there. However, snorkeling is not very good at PB so if that is very important to your family I say it’s not a great choice. We’ve been to PB twice in the past few years and we are returning once again in a few weeks[emoji4].

Wondering if there's things to do at PB for 2yr olds? Ours likes the water but obviously not swimming entire time.

  4. Tabyana beach is very nice and good off shore snorkeling. We had horrible storms when we were there so we didn't get to fully enjoy it. Here is a picture:

In Belize there aren't really an beaches you can get to without an excursion. We did Goff's Caye and it was beautiful. I have a review linked in my signature but the pictures aren't available anymore due to a hosting site change :(

But it is literally small tiny island in the middle of the ocean. Water was so clear. Like pool water.

@brookeq Thank you for sharing! We have Tabyana added to our plans. Did you do the ship excursion or DIY?

    Thanks all for your responses!

  5. Either for your toddler - both offer beach and pool options - and Chank includes sea life shows, dolphins, etc. PB offers a HUGE pool and (IMHO) better facilities.

Only Chank will offer good snorkeling from the shore - but they also charge a $20/adult admission fee. PB only charges $3 each.

    Thanks John.

Any recommendations on the food and drinks at Chankanaab?

The carnival all-inclusive excursion to Chankanaab is $84/person. We're not heavy eaters or drinkers, wondering if it's better to DIY this port?

  6. Hi team -

We have a 2-yr old and will be stopping in Cozumel for the day (Carnival Freedom). I enjoy snorkeling and was leaning towards Chankanaab. Then yesterday I discovered Paradise Beach. So I'm curious which one would be better for our toddler? What are your thoughts?

Also, what are the options for booking Chankanaab "All-inclusive" (with open bar).

I see that Carnival excursion is $85/adult. Any cheaper options?
