  1. We were on the Onward last month. There was a tender port and we were not tendering until 10am. Even though they were giving priority to the excursion guests, we still managed to get a ticket for the first tender out

Has anybody experienced the Mystical Tales at Synchro Porto Montenegro Amazing evening in Kotor.

Its scheduled for our cruise but not sure whether it is for us or not, or more importantly if we can easily make our own way back to the ship should it not be for us

    Regards

Yes we experienced it a couple of weeks ago. It was held onboard as they said that the venue was not suitable for the weather.

It was not to our taste. We had been to a great amazing evening the week before in Livorno at the Opera house which was wonderful (we were doing a b2b) but we were disappointed with this event, probably not helped by the fact that it was held on the ship.

  3. We did a segment of the world cruise on the Queen Victoria a few years ago. On our table we had a guy who was doing the whole cruise. Every day he boasted that he was the only one who deliberately walked the wrong way round the deck and thought it was funny when people nearly knocked him over. He was a right prat. He also made sure that Cunard knew he was doing a blog about the cruise and managed to get upgraded to Grills halfway round. He may have been a prat but he wasn't stupid!

  4. Just back from 7 days on the Jewel of the Seas. It was the first time on Royal Caribbean for us and I booked a balcony guarantee cabin.  We were horrified with the state of the room. The balcony divider had all the paint scratched off, the curtains were ripped, the ceiling was stained and the air con did not work. As well as this, we had a smell of rotten eggs coming from the balcony. On closer inspection we had cracked soil pipes going over the top of our balcony which is where the smell was likely escaping from. We were on deck 7.

We did get moved after 24 hours but it did ruin the first day of our holiday. Were we just unlucky or is this a true reflection of Royal Caribbean? Are cabins not checked?

  5. We have just come off the Viking Venus and it was announced in one of the morning messages by the cruise director that balcony cleaning would be carried out that day and our cabin steward then reminded us later that same morning. I do appreciate that not everyone listens to the broadcasts but we were certainly made aware of this event

  6. I wonder whether it is to do with the flights back to Heathrow. We have just departed from Viking Venus and we asked if we could stay on for the next cruise around the Greek Islands. We were told that as we were from the UK we could not stay on the ship as there were no flights home for us. I know that several passengers had their BA flights cancelled.

if that is the case, then Viking should be upfront about it. As mentioned earlier, the extra day in Dubrovnik seemed to cause no problems for anyone

  7. Just starting to pack and looking forward to being on board. Just got a couple of questions. Do we get given bottles of water to take off the ship on excursions or do I need to pack a refillable bottle?

Is there a library onboard to borrow books (fiction) or should I pack some books myself?

This is such a shame because the port of Kotor is beautiful. I'm sure Viking have planned for this reality and will let you all know what they intend to do. It's a tough call because if they refuse to change the itinerary they'll lose a ton of money from UK cruisers whom will have to cancel and reschedule. 😔

I hope they decide quickly as we travel soon. Only got 2 days until our 2 week risk free cancellation period expires

Annoyingly, BA have just cancelled my 06.15 early morning flight on the 19 September.... I wS originally allocated 10.50 with air Malta and rang to ask if could get on the early option.

I've now been booked on 14.15 ..... That's day 1 on my "11" day cruise gone.i arrive in time for bed... If on time. Ridiculous times.

Not Vikings fault I appreciate. I asked to get back on the 10.50, but only business is available and they expect me to pay an additional £1000 for a flight I already rejected as too late.

I wonder if arriving a day early in Malta is an option?

We go out the week before on the 12th September. I was originally offered the BA flight at 10.50 am but when I came to book it (only 3 hours later) I was told I would have to be on the later Air Malta flight

  10. Hi everyone - back for brief update and then I’m bowing out again.
Just wanted to clarify that I deleted my posts and left the group voluntarily. I was not removed by the admin or anyone else.
As you can imagine, we’re mentally (and physically) exhausted from the entire ordeal. I’m not complaining, as this type of travel is an enormous privilege, but it became overwhelming keeping up with questions and comments (partly because I was obsessively checking every time I got a notification!) and frankly, we’re gutted it ended this way and this quickly. Sitting in our hotel last night it all came crashing down and we just need some distance from it all. We board our flight in about 2 hours so until we clear customs at JFK, it ain’t over yet!
I shared our experience because this forum has truly kept us informed and it seems to be the best place where we can learn of and from the experiences of others. Thank you to everyone for your support and positive comments - they truly helped.
Safe and pleasant travels to everyone.
For us - it’s peace out ✌️(until we book the next trip 😉)

You can see her videos on her Facebook page -- Carly Walsh, Volleyball coach at Texas Tornados Volleyball

And it is also very interesting that Viking refuse to respond to her pleas of help until day 4 (I think) after the daily videos are posted on facebook. That did not show Viking in a very good light. Oh the power of social media!

  12. I feel sorry for people who are not a member of this forum or the Viking facebook groups. They will be unaware that if a passenger on their excursion bus who later tests positive can completely ruin their entire cruise.

Surely it is up to Viking to address this possible scenario with future cruisers BEFORE the 2 week cancellation deadline. It is then up to the passengers to decide whether to take this risk or not.

I’ve now started legal proceedings against my travel agent in order to obtain my refund. My cruise was cancelled 8 weeks ago and I’ve had no response from my emails. Managed to speak to someone on the phone who told me that the Azamara refund will be cash but the flights etc will be credit notes as per their terms and conditions.

As i am from the UK, I’m legally entitled to a full cash refund for a cancelled package holiday. It’s the lack of communication from my agent that has annoyed me.

    An update.

Last night after sending my travel agent (who can’t be named!) a letter advising them of 14 days before court action, I awoke this morning to an email from them confirming payment in full back to my credit card. What a result.

i wish to thank the poster on this thread who posted a copy of his letter that he used with his travel agent. I used it as a template and it worked. Everyone on this site is so helpful

    Hi diana11

To clarify.....Is it your travel agent that is giving you the vouchers/credit note to be used with the travel agent ,presumably for any future travel booked with them or is it vouchers/credit issued by Azamara note that can be used with Azamara only?

I’m not sure. I got the impression it will be a credit note from the travel agent as our holiday included one night hotel and transfers. This wouldn’t be anywhere near £1500 though and the flights were BA so they should be refunded as cash

Hi diana11, I would get in touch with your travel agent in the first instance and talk to them about it.

Hope you’re both keeping well and safe.

Thanks Grandma we both are fine. I hope you are looking after Nick and you are both ok

  17. I’ve booked my cruise and flights through a travel agent in the UK for a cruise that has now been cancelled. Azamara sent me the cancellation notice to click for a full refund but should I wait for the travel agent to contact me to arrange the refund?
