well it’s 6th August and October cruises have been cancelled.  Got my official email confirming cancellation

How long before October cruises are cancelled

I work in an essential industry, so I’ve pretty much life as normal for me.  Apart from me putting a new bathroom and kitchen but I got the main parts sorted out just before lockdown,  the electrical work and walls skimming done by 20 March and the paint that. needed mixing brought as well, as I was seeing European countries going on lockdown.  Other stuff that I have needed can be brought online the delivery person knocks on door leaves the items on the drive and leaves.  I have got both bathroom walls and kitchen walls stencilled, today the second skating board and the wainscotting in the bathroom and get painted, then tomorrow the bath sink and toilet get plumbed in 😻

i prepaid by tips before starting this cruise on the Ovation of the seas. In the information for the last day l got an envelope asking for extra tips is this normal for royal do ask for more tip money?

This will be my third and final cruise as a solo. I have been on the Epic twice and am going on the Ovation of the Seas, but next year I am heading back to Disney as the costs for a cruise is getting too high for me. I found one that interested me two weeks on the Independance of the Seas the canaaries adventure sailing 6th October, but the price for three people is £3274 for interior cabin, the price for 2 is £2438 and the price for one is £3144 why pay nearly as much for three people to go on holiday?

My experience on NCL is that you will have no problem getting a table by yourself. But sharing is a different issue. I've seen several anecdotal reports about it happening on NCL ships, but my experience would be that this is very much up to the individual initiative of the hostess in question (or the solo host, if there is one on your ship) to arrange. In other words, it doesn't appear to be a function of company-wide "policy" or anything that you can count on. Naturally, YMMV. ;-)

 

My preference is to dine alone, and therefore NCL has always "worked" for me. :-)

I went on a Christmas cruise on the NCL Epic, several times when I went to the restaurant I would be asked if I would mind sharing because they had a solo person who didn't want to eat alone. I had some good conversations with people that way.

Yes it’s not available in December, which makes the multiple emails offering it at 60% off really irritating

I am doing a 12 day cruise on this ship in December can anyone tell me when booking for the ultimate dining plan will be available?

I expect food to be hot, entrees not to be served before you finish the starter, or even before the starter is served. Poached eggs hot not cold, bacon hot not cold. Room service spaghetti hot not cold.

Then you where lucky O'Sheehan's was the place to get hot breakfast. The food at other times was good but they brought the entree before I had finished the appetiser and once before I had got it. The food in the other resteraunt so was ok but the last breakfast I had in taste had stone cold poached eggs. The decline in food quality and service is enough to make me try another cruise line and not return to ncl.

The wifi was good enough to stream netflix when I was on the epic. In port or out of port. One of the few good things about the ship.

The least they could do is hav hot food, I found the meals in the buffet where louke warm to cold and had a room service meal missing the cheese plate I wanted and had stone cold spaghetti. I went on the Epic in 2015. This trip will be the last one ever with ncl. I know you are not allowed to say that and if you complain then you are making unrealistic wants but hot food should be hot not Luke warm or cold.

The other "problem"with Disney, and it may not be a deal breaker for some, is that there are no casinos. I like to spend time in the casino at night, so not having that really affected my cruise. I'm not big on shows, so a casino was something I missed.

no casino makes me more inclined to go with them.

The hotel manager in the epic the do me that bathrooms ar being enclosed on their newer ships means they have had more than enough complaints about them

I need it so I can have remote access to my desktop at work. I need to be able to review a few documents from my job in real time.

I am on the epic now and have been able to play the games I like on my iPad candy crush and paradise bay. I also have got email had a Skype call with my sister and streamed video on YouTube, though that was slow. Also used Netflix (I wake up early and there wasn't anything I wanted to watch on their tv stations) with very little problems.

How come in the area to find posts on a specific ship there is not a link for Ovation of the Seas.

A lot of people are really lazy about researching both the cruise line and their ship of choice. So many of the questions asked on this forum could easily be answered themselves by a simple perusal of the FAQ's and Terms and Conditions of promos.

And yet I have seen very rude replies when people gave asked questions. As for their shows they know they have a lot of families why not do a family friendly show as well as Priscilla?

You where lucky about no lines when I got to the port on th ncl shuttle from Marriott Lakeside there was a massive line. I will remember next time to book my own flight the one I was on from ncl was an indirect flight from Heathrow to Washington then Washington to Orlando. The flight was late taking off and landed about 45minutes before the gates closed so I only just made it in time. As I was runnung to the gate you could hear them calling final boarding, then ther was someone in my seat but I said all I needed was a seat so that didn't matter. It was a frustrating day as I had to pop out to deliver my aunts Christmas present and almost got home when I must hav it a nail or something on the road as I have now got a flat tyre on my front right side (not ncl related but irritating start to a holiday). Great stirrup cay was great brought a snorkelling mad that goes over your face as I had tried tradion all snorkelling and didn't get on with it. Had a lovely time and will do it again as I am doing the Christmas and new year cruise back to back. The Internet has been OK as well. I went down to the Manhatten room saw everyone dressed up so went back and got dressed up and had s nice meal. But as my body is still working uk time went to bed early, a mixture of that and working shifts means I wake up early is why I am wide awake at 3 am in the morning. That happens at home as well you finish you day shift pattern and think great a lie in and bright and early you wake up with no chance of going back to sleep. The cruise is going well so far making up for little irritations like the tyre and flight connections looking forward to seeing what they do for Christmas Day.

Just looking for a 7 day cruise next year do Carnival ships have solo cabins on board? I tried looking at their web page and couldn't find anything and googling just comes up with companies selling cruises.

A lot of people who were displaced, stolen from, etc are happy about Fidel, but Raul is still there in power. Any decisions to be made about sanctions are yet to be known. I just love when people jump to conclusions based on their own biases.

I think things in Cuba are going to get worse now that Fidel is dead. When he was alive Raul had the backing of Fidel but that political backing is gone and people are going to want the top job. That is going to make Raul paranoid about plots against him and he will start getting rid of anyone he thinks is a danger to him.

That is something I would do sharing a table or not. I am booked on the ship for Christmas 2017 so will book it as soon as a I can for Christmas day.

Normally, I might be interested. However, since this ship will have no Studio cabins, I'm very unlikely to sail her.

I am on the Epic in December when the ship is at Port Canaveral on 30th December does NCL do shore trips to Kennedy Space Centre? I ask because of the worry of getting back before the ship goes and official shore trips will hold the ship if something happens
