we have a bungalow rented for the day... has anyone tried the gourmet picnic basket they say is available??

if so, how do you order one??

I believe you order at the shore excursion desk. There should be Info on your desk when you first get to your room.

I have a 28 day cruise booked on the Star.  We are Platinum Level.  If Star is denying entry to platinum members in the PES lounge, then I will likely cancel the booking and look for a similar itinerary on another line.  I would encourage other platinum members to stop sailing on the Star or any other ship that is taking our lounge away.  After all, it is a loyalty program and loyalty is a two way street.  What satxdiver is reporting is clearly disloyalty to platinum members.

We were on the Star in October and were not denied entry.  We are Platinum.

  3. Double tree Hilton was the hotel Princess used near the airport in October for us. Their hotel downtown was waitlisted and I don't remember which one it was. We really liked this hotel and we were able to use the Seattle light rail to get downtown for sightseeing.  And it was a lot less than $300.

I found the Island very walker friendly. The promenade deck's cut through at the aft end is an elevator/stairwell lobby, easy enough to traverse. I tended to prefer "horseshoe" laps however. I also found the Lido and Sun decks to be relatively uncrowded and pleasant to walk in fair weather. I don't see it as a issue for long cruises and hour long promenades, certainly better than on the Regal/Royal class ships. I'll be doing a 97 day test in Jan '21 and might change my mind.

I agree. No problem at all to cross through at the aft end of the promenade.

WE each had a rolling suitcase and one bag (backpack, etc).  They let us on because it was early in the morning and not crowded.  We asked if it was okay before getting on.  It was great—got off at a stop that was two blocks from the hotel.  Saved a little bit of money b not having to get a taxi.

Thanks for the reply. You did good.

We did the HOHO last May (2018) and enjoyed it.  We have been to Vancouver many times, but we saw and experienced new areas!  Loved the convenience and found that it wasn’t too crowded.  Bought tickets at the cruise port and then rode it with our luggage to a stop near our hotel which was close to English Bay.  Also got both the city and park ticket.

    Enjoy!

Good idea. How much luggage did you have?

Just a follow up for anyone needing clarification...  we went to Pearl Harbor on Friday and I carried an NFL logo clear bag and sailed through the entrance line.  No problem at all and it was nice to have someplace to carry our sweaty water bottles!

Can you post a picture of the bag?  Thank you.

  8. Thank you. I will be finding my way there in October.

Adagio is a quiet and mostly underutilized bar. Due to it's location many cruisers never even realize it's there. It's a nice quiet place to relax. There is a bit of aft public deck behind the venue that, again, is mostly underutilized. We caught some very nice jazz in Adagio one night. Sometimes the ship's musicians get together there for things like that. Very low key.

We sail on Emerald Princess soon (sister ship to Crown) and I will be using Adagio as a quiet spot to get away and read, relax, and have a nice quiet drink.

EDIT: Here's a (low quality) quick look at Adagio on Crown Princess. (The video is 6 years old so...)

  9. What is Adagio? I found it on the deck plan but haven't found a description yet.

    Thanks.

Just a note to the OP:

Unlike those other cruise lines Princess doesn't put the line name first. The naming for Princess ships is "Crown Princess". A small thing but important.

We've only sailed Crown once so far but loved the ship. Check out Adagio up on Deck 16 aft. A quiet and mostly underutilized venue. There's even a bit of public deck right behind the venue.

  10. I'm impressed we are staying at the Bauer. We are normally Holiday Inn or Days Inn customers but we decided to splurge on this trip and I liked the location. Will be here for a couple of nights and then boarding our cruise ship.
