  1. Hi. Following along, and thanks for posting. We just got off of the Island Princess on Monday, November 12, after a 28-day Mediterranean and Transatlantic crossing. I was in a Caribe cabin, mid-forward, too, so if Cyrus is your cabin steward, you’re in luck. He’s fabulous. Getting my bearings on the ship took time since the Horizon Court is forward when we’re used to it being aft. If you have a chance, ask for Anthony in the Provence Dining Room. He’s fantastic!

I do not have any first-hand knowledge of any covid case forsure...but just down the hall (deck 9 Dolphin) for the past week there has been one of those very small tables blocking the cabin door and usually with a finished tray on it. I don't know any other explanation for this but our cabin steward told me that deck 8 was the quarantine deck.

Thank you for your reply. I’m looking forward to our cruise, but since it will be 28-days, it seems that precautions are still warranted.

I don't watch reality dating shows but I did watch this to see what it was like.  As soon as they said Brett was ill and wouldn't be back I said to dh that he must have Covid.

We too were surprised at some of the numbers although they were interviewed before the show.  I figure some of the numbers were made up because they didn't know the answer.  Really, at 25-29 years old who remembers how many people they kissed on a first date!  Not exactly something one keeps track of.

Covid was what I thought, too. OMG, a show trying sell its audience on cruising, and a cast member likely gets Covid right off the bat? Ugh.

I like to watch “Married at First Sight”, but that show highlights the developments of the relationships more fully. This show is like showing sparkling bobbles on a superficial level who are to decide which bobbles sparkle the most. Not a fan, but I remain a Princess fan.

  4. Thanks for taking us along with you on your cruise. I especially like the picture of the atrium area. By the way, did your cruise have any covid issues? We’ll be on the Island in November for a 28-day cruise from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale, and several previous Island Princess threads have mentioned that their cruises had covid issues. Would you be so kind to give us your observations?  We may want to mask up until the coast is clear. Thanks!

A big part of the problem is that the staff, and therefore us passengers, simply don't know what is available, as the menus they give us are largely worthless. As to champagne, that was one of the only successes we had. La Mer (but none of the other restaurants) offered a Veuve Cliquot at $23/glass, so upcharge of only $5 + 18% for us with the Premier package. Well worth it

Hi, lx200gps. Thanks for the information!

I’m on the Caribbean Princess now and start the second leg of our B2B tomorrow. I have uploaded a lot of menus to this link (WR codes on board are already pointing to new prices).

It mostly affects wine prices although I’m still waiting to hear if Good Spirits prices increase. I couldn’t get a good answer out of the servers today.

As for specialty dining, we weren’t able to use our perk specialty dining this past week because they booked out so quickly. So I wouldn’t assume that those with Princess Premier will actually get to use that perk.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi seems a bit spotty. It was mostly unusable this past week but working a little better today.

Thanks. My choice of wines brought me to upgrade to premier. In the future, I might have to think about that, then again, maybe not. Princess needs to tighten up financially, so it’s a good thing.

  7. Thank you for your review. We’re on the Island Princess for the November Mediterranean/Transatlantic cruise, and I’m glad to know that everyone is masking up. We took a cruise on the Sky Princess last October when masks were required, and we had no problems. It’s in Princess’ best interest to keep the masking protocol in place to help prevent any covid outbreaks that can spread throughout the ship.

  8. Hi. I just upgraded from Princess Plus to Princess Premium, and was only charged the difference as reflected on the website. The final price was slightly higher, but not 30% higher. I assume the extra cost was added because I have Princess Platinum coverage. Princess also suggested that I could upgrade once on board, but I’m not sure how that would work. You might try calling back and seeing if it goes better for you this time.

Nope, not just you ;o)  It's a very poor way of showing the offerings under the Plus plan. Question: On the right edge of your photo is what looks like a larger and more comprehensive wine list, which I assume is from the CG?  Did that list also show wines by the glass or were they full bottles only? IOW are there any other wines by the glass, regardless of cost, than what you show on the right side of the photo? I'm trying to decide whether upgrading to the Premier package makes sense for us, and there are only 3 named whites shown on your photo under the Premier plan, and 3 "anonymous" whites under the basic plan. If there were a lot more in that "full" wine list beside it, it might be worth us upgrading. Thanks for the photo, very helpful.

Thank you. This information is very helpful.

Mackenzie1 I didn't click on it but on your last post it says unavailable.  It might be there but just wanted to mention this.

    Keith

Thanks, Keith. Please accept my apologies, but I can’t seem to transfer the image from .heic to jpg. I have an iPhone 7, so maybe that’s why. 🙁

I have noticed all my phone photos are now in that .heic format. Just got the Android 12 update this week. So Mac1 please let me know if you figure it out!

Thanks. Yes, my pictures now appear to be in .heic format, when they were previously in jpeg. I’m not sure if they will post now. Will they still work in .heic? Thanks so much for reaching out. 👏🏻

I looked at this and thought, this looks REALLY familiar. Could I have been on this same cruise? And lo and behold, I walked right into the scene, taking my own video, just as fast as my little iPhone could manage. THANK YOU for posting this! So exciting! Was it New Orleans to Miami?

Oh, how fortunate I feel to have gotten to enjoy this.

Yes! This was the Crystal Symphony New Orleans to Miami cruise in October 2019.  I have other clips from that Halloween cruise that’ll post. I hope you were in them as well!
