I realize that Regent is introducing the travel industry to the new Splendor, but I have concerns about the myriad of 'visitors' who will be on board the ship during her two night stay in San Diego as well as the ship tours that will be given during embarkation day on March 14th prior to sailing. I sincerely hope that the same protocol for PASSENGERS will be implemented for these GUESTS. It would be unfair to the passengers on this sailing to be subject to having had literally hundreds of guests onboard who have not been screened.

I think I acted too hastily as we have already made final payment and from what I have read regarding the referral coupon, it must be submitted before.
So please disregard my request.
According to the information I received from Seabourn it states that the coupon must be received prior to the embarkation of the new guest. Based on my reading of this, you would still be able to use the coupon.

Hi, I just booked my first Seabourn cruise and have not read this thread...…...what would I need to do to receive this lovely coupon?
Hi Lois,
All you need to do is contact me and provide your name, address, and booking number. I will send you a scanned copy of the coupon so you can see it. I submit the coupon and you will receive the credit from Seabourn once you make your final payment. I will also send you a copy of the completed coupon that I mail to Seabourn so you will have a copy of that as well. If you are interested or need more information, just email me at: travelingduo@sbcglobal.net We were fortunate enough to get this credit on our first Seabourn cruise as well. Les

We have been in the Penthouse Spa suite a couple of times (not in Alaska). Love it! You get a great panoramic view from the huge verandah everywhere. I wouldn't give it up -- IMHO!

Les, I spoke at Seabourn club today, and the Amex OBC credit is NOT combinable with a referral OBC. I guess I'll just forget the Amex credit which is $300 and go with the referral OBC .
If you would like my coupon just email me we can coordinate. travelingduo@sbcglobal.net

fdnycruiser: You ask a good question and there are varying responses from CC'ers. My understanding is that you cannot combine this credit with other onboard credits you receive from SEABOURN, but I have read that people receiving onboard credits from TA's and AX have been able to combine both. I think the best way to get a definitive answer is to contact Seabourn Club directly. They are really nice and helpful!
Seabourn Club Phone: 866‐934‐2332 or 206‐626‐9199 Email: seabournclub@seabourn.com (M-F 8-5 PST)
I'll be anxious to hear what they say. Good luck! Les

Is there a designated area to meet Uber/Lyft drivers for transfers to the airport?

Can’t speak to any other Viking ship, but we just got off the Atla (Eastern Europe) and we were in an Explorer Suite (340). It was LOUD!!! We enjoy sailing in aft cabins and love hearing the sound of the wake — which we could do on this river cruise. However, there was so much noise and vibration from the engines, we really didn’t enjoy the suite. We would have done the Veranda Suite had we known. Just our experience sailing on the Danube.

I posted this question on the roll call for Viking Eastern European cruises, but thought that there may be people who have this experience as well. Because this itinerary goes to to 6 different countries and most of them are just for the day, is it necessary to get local currencies for local guides as none of them are on Euros?

Do you know if we have seats in business class assigned and the upgrade has been paid for, does it matter if we haven’t been ticketed?
We booked our business air flights with Viking as soon as the window opened. They were able to confirm our requested flights and seats immediately without ticketing them. We are flying on 3 different airlines, all Sky Team members. Our TA told us that Viking has an arrangement with the airlines that allows them to book and reserve seats even though they don’t actually issue the tickets until 90:days out. Whenever I check our reservation they are still there and we don’t leave until April.

We absolutely agree. The Muse is lovely for all the reasons expressed, but the dining is a deal breaker. We enjoyed our cruise on the Muse, but won’t go back for that reason.

I agree with other posters. I have had luck sometimes and no luck other times. Depends on the flights, when they are ticketed, and the type of ticket the cruise lines negotiate (there are actually special codes just for cruise discounted fares). We have had very bad luck with AA. Haven’t been able to use our miles for upgrades or reward travel for over a year! There have been recent articles on travel blogs indicating that AA has become one of the worst airlines for reward travel. Sorry to be pessimistic. We decided that we would not take a chance on our upcoming cruise and just booked it with the Viking air plus folks (via our TA). Got great flights and no worries— even have our seat assignments. Some folks don’t care and just want to 'get there.' Others care a great deal how we get there based on a variety of issues and needs. Good luck.

Call Air Plus. They are great and will answer all your questions. We booked our air and had seat assignments 325 days out. Our final payment is not until October 1. Viking won’t actually ticket until 45-90 days out. Hope that helps.

Thanks Phyllygirl3. This is our first river cruise after 70+ ocean voyages. I spoke with some friends who have sailed several times on the Viking long ships. While they weren’t in an Explorer Suite, they never heard anyone complain about vibration in the Suite. They also said that the suites were wonderful and they were envious of the occupants! Happy sailing!

We booked a cruise while Seabourn was having their 30th birthday special, category upgrades, OBC etc paying a deposit for a December sailing early March and now finding there is another special price for our sailing which is quite a bit cheaper
Seabourn use the words Not combinable with other offers
Would this mean that a future cruise deposit along with the 5% discount not apply? We also have another discount on a future cruise which Seabourn gave us on the last cruise we did due to the poor weather we had, missed ports etc . We never expected that discount as Seabourn can not control the weather
If I do a dummy booking this new price which Seabourn is offering at the moment is a lot cheaper for the same cabin without these future cruise deposits we have also with the deposit we paid while on the last cruise
We are due to pay the final payment mid July and wondering where we stand? Is it worth chasing my TA and wasting his and my time?
It’s not a waste of time to try! Don’t know about the 'not combinable' as all the cruise lines make special offers when sailings are light or?...... Our cruise went down by $2,000 per person. I called our TA and he had an adjustment in less than an hour. This WAS prior to final payment. Just our experience.

I learned a very valuable lesson from these boards years ago. Many trip insurance providers allow you to simply insure your deposit and then give you until 14 days after your final payment to add the rest of the trip total. If you insure your deposit within 14 days of making it, you will (in most cases) qualify for the pre-existing waiver. We have now done this for years. We use InsureMyTrip for quotes. They are just agents for the insurance companies but they are all licensed and VERY knowledgeable. Their website is excellent and explains everything, but they are wonderful to talk with. BTW- I told our TA about this when we declined their insurance. He did some research and told me he can do the same thing through his insurance company. Another great benefit was that when I dealt with InsureMyTrip for a cruise in April of 2020, they told me that the rate for the entire trip cost would be the same rate as if I paid for the entire trip today and all I had to do was insure the deposit. That makes a difference as the rates are based on age and we will all be older in two years! [emoji16] Hope this helps some of you as it has helped us. We would have never known about this if we hadn’t read the CC Boards!

I would add that the itinerary is really important. Not all lines do the same itineraries. I think that should be another consideration.

Viking has a video of the suite. I think the question was whether or not it really looks like the video! Glad someone chimed in.

We have had the Silver Spirits package on all of our river cruises and have never signed for anything. We have occasionally been asked for our stateroom number, especially the first day or two, but once the crew gets to know who you are, you should be all set.
Thanks!

What is being done about coronavirus.....
in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Posted
While I appreciate that Regent has instituted their Regent Reassurance program, in light of the latest developments with yet another quarantined cruise ship, how did they come up with the date of April 3 and forward departures? What about sailings still scheduled this month? Doesn’t seem fair to passengers who are scheduled to leave soon.
