I have cruised 5 times out of NYC and haven’t driven once. I will only do Amtrak or fly. I am leaving out nyc in October so I will fly and pay $40 for cruise line transportation to ship because it is in Brooklyn this time. Too far for a taxi.

I got off the 10 day repositioning cruise on 11/3. My main complaint was getting through to the dining line, solved by going through the pursers desk. I am Elite and called room service to switch out the bar items for a bottle of wine, no problem. I did traditional dining and the service was great. We are believers in not rushing through dinner and enjoying our meal and time together. If we were in a hurry we would have gone to the buffet, just saying. I have never traveled on the "big" ship and did not know if I would like it having cruised the Grand class all the way down to the "baby" the Pacific Princess in September. I really liked the Regal and will be on the Royal in March. This was my 32nd cruise with Princess and i don't think you can expect perfect no matter where you travel and there are certainly ways to get around things, i.e. Room service and dining line when cruising.

I am glad to see that you are okay. Hope you enjoyed your time in Florida post cruise.

I had the same problem with the large table. Now I request a table for 2 and eat by myself. Go to the solo events and you may meet others to dine with. Sitting with couples who disappear is more uncomfortable than dining by myself.

i believe any cabins around the renovation area are not being used during this time.

Not if it is noisy. I was under the apparent wrong impression that renovations would be completed for sailing.

I was on Princess to Alaska this summer. There were two solo get togethers on the 7 day cruise, both which were led by cruise staff - one the first evening and the second one was on a sea day - solos met for afternoon tea together (Princess has an afternoon tea most days). I did not attend as on this cruise as I was traveling with a gal pal.

I was on NCL this past summer in Alaska. I really enjoyed it. I hope your trip was great as well. They had a solo get together everyday. I did not go at all the first week, but the second week it was really nice. We had 17 solos for our last night dinner.

I love afternoon tea. I enjoyed it on Queen Mary2 last October.

The one and only time I cruised Princess I was with my wife. So I don't know about the Solo get together. There probably is one. Just check the daily newsletter the first day of the cruise. The studio cabins on the Epic or Breakaway class ships is very small and cozy but well worth considering because of the lower-cost (no single supplement) and the Studio Lounge and meeting with other solo cruisers. NCL rate $1100.

Final cruise price with taxes $1271. But airfare for Barcelona and Galveston are just too high.

It was cheaper years ago when I flew to Rome for the transatlantic.

good price 16 night Barcelona Transatlantic ending in Houston. $1106 inside, 1700 balcony. Only way I would book it is if the one way airfares comes down.:eek:

There is a meetup group going and I was considering it. I have seen it on The Amazing Race & the kardasians were recently there.

I am looking at a RCCL cruise 1/16 Saudi Arab 7 nights no single supplement. Has anyone been there?

You would also want to get a hotel in San Juan for a night or two. And the extra days in New Orleans could be a good time.

I'm single too. Have done one official solo cruise the beginning of February, and had a Hawaiian cruise where I wished I had gone alone, but that's a long story. Only down side I had to solo cruising was that single supplement. Sent you a friend request; perhaps we can chat.

I also did the Hawaii cruise but found it was not a good way to see Hawaii. The ship and swells were to large so we had to go to one island twice and skip one were people had golf and car rentals planned. 9 hours lets you see a couple places on one side of the island but not the other side.

Also being on a ship with 3000 people all trying to get on the tenders at the last minute in the hot sun was awful. My worse 14,Night cruise.

I hope you had a better experience. If flying from the east coast to get to Hawaii wasn't such a chore I would actually spend days seeing the islands using hotels.

This was In the past (good deals) and I wanted to go for at least 14 days.
