  1. So I logged in to check if any items were on sale and I’m noticing price differences but no banner indicating a sale, I recommend you all check on items you purchased or plan on purchasing.  I booked many of the items during Black Friday sale so for me the prices aren’t better than what I paid, but they are lower than what was in there the other day.

  2. Does anyone happen to have a copy of the kids menu for the speciality restaurants?  I like to plan my reservations in advance and it will make a difference if there aren’t items on the menu that my kids will eat.  We are booked in the steakhouse for the first night and I’ve seen the kids menu for the steakhouse and I know they all have something on that menu that they will enjoy. Now I am also curious if they can order two entries like the 4 oz steak and the chicken tenders?  I have an 11 year old that eats like a man.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Does any one know if there is a differnce between a family harbor ocean view cabin to a "regular" ocean view cabin - only in terms of the decoration, general looks of the room and toilet, size of thr room?

    Thanks

The family harbor room comes with perks like a free night of the night owls and kids eat free in most specialty restaurants.

  4. We are a family of 6 and we’ve had deals for 3300 for a week and we’ve paid 5700 for a week.  The best advice I can give is book the best option as far in advance as you can.  Then I stalk the website for price adjustments and kids sail free offers depending on the cruise line.  This way I have the room I want for a price I’m willing to pay and if I’m persistent and lucky  then I may just get an even better deal! I’ve found for my family size that royal Caribbean and NCL have been the most affordable prices since I pick times of the year where kids sail free tend to be available.  Good luck to you!

We were recently on Disney and you can download their app free and text friends and family on board. I really liked that the Kids Club would text you if your child wanted to leave... it only happened once during our 7 day cruise but it gave me piece of mind. We will be sailing on the Horizon on 7/3/18... Does Camp Ocean text you if you download the Hub app ?

I wonder if the kids camp on carnival will send a message via the hub app?

  6. Not every family harbor room is under the galley.  I’m booked in room 2478 and the dining room is above us.  I always recommend reviewing the floor plan for your room and the space above or below.  I once had a room in the aft of triumph, a balcony and the pool deck was above us and I thought that would be perfect since at night it would be quite but I didn’t think they would be dragging chairs over the pool deck at 5am.  I learned my lesson.  I also heard some noise and vibration was felt from the Rutter as the ship turned to make dock on port days.

  7. My twins are 5 and about to be going on their 3rd Carnival cruise, so we have plenty of experience!

Embarkation: Have some simple bags of snacks (goldfish crackers, etc) and juice boxes handy as lines can be long and boring. We've found simple snacks really make it better! This is one time we break out tablets too.

Once on the ship, have lunch. They can register the kids for Camp Carnival and tour the area, so they kind of know what it looks like and meet the ladies who will be in there for the cruise. The camp is not usually open until 10pm on the first night, so don't plan on using it. I'd have the kids in swimwear under their clothes and head to the pools after checking into the camp. Swim, dance to the Lido music, and enjoy seeing the Seuss characters. My kids stay entertained easily until the safety drill is called.

All children are different. My twins are very social and LOVE Camp Carnival. They beg to go anytime the doors are open. Our sea day schedule is usually sleeping in, brunch, swimming, water works, and lunch. They usually then want to head to the camp for an hour or two before dinner, which gives husband and I time to relax/nap!

Port days are spent on the island as a family. We never leave our two behind as we cruise for the ports and experiences. Usually, we come in from our excursions, shower, nap a little, and head to dinner at 6. Our waiters keep the kids a course ahead of the adults (appetizer fruit on table at arrival, entre while adults have apps, etc). At 7, my kids are begging to head to Camp. They stay until 10pm every night and we usually allow them to stay until 1am a couple of nights for the Night Owl party because they beg! We are always amazed at their stamina!

I'd definitely try to use the clubs if the kids will go, as they really make the vacation both for our children and us...it's nice to have some adult time! Have fun!

This is great advice, I don’t have much to add except I recommend fttf. We cruised once on the magic out of Galveston and the lines for checkin were crazy and with fttf we were at the front of the line and with kids this is very important! I have triplets and a singleton 18 months older and I can tell you waiting isn’t easy! Your advice about the swimsuits is spot on because regardless of weather cold or hot my kids will find water and they will be entertained!

  8. In Virginia we were unable to take the child with us, we would have to have the child stay with another family while we traveled. I’m sure state guidelines will dictate this, I assume the child’s parents could have a say since they may be getting regular visitation.

  9. I have a family of 6, triplets and a singleton. We’ve always cruised in one room when traveling without other family. We cruised on Ncl jade and Ncl jewel in a two bedroom family suite the best room we’ve ever had hands down! Kids had their own room it had a master bath like in your house! The balcony had very cozy furniture for lounging while the kids chilled. We’ve cruised royal Caribbean in the freedom class ships twice both times on the liberty of the seas and they have family oceanview and family

Promenade rooms that sleep six. The downside is you have to call to book these rooms. Disney Cruise line also has rooms that sleep 5 but not six [emoji19]. You will find accommodations that fit your family but it will take some leg work, you could always hire a travel agent to do all that work for you.

  10. My kids had their first cruise when they were 4 and 5. I have triplets that are now almost 9 and they’re going on their on 6th cruise in November. I recommend lots of snacks to have on embarkation and for ports of calls. I recommend a backpack with some of their favorite items to keep them busy like coloring book, doll, cars you get the idea. I would expect them to act how they do when you go out to dinner in your area. Keep in mind dinner service can be long and kids don’t have the patience for it. You may want to eat in the buffet on nights where they aren’t having it! The waiters help out a lot with keeping the kids entertained, this is dependent on your waiters. The more you talk to them about it and show them some videos they will get an idea of what to expect. You do need to tell them in advance how proud you are that they are behaving so good! Kids will be kids, make sure your plans are flexible based on what the kids need. If they offer the kids club or babysitting service on your cruise you may want an evening just you and your souse. Have fun!

  11. My problem I bought it immediately and planned to by it for the others in my little group as a gift. When I finally got all their booking numbers it was sold out. I am waiting to see if I can get 6 more FTF for them. I am hoping when it comes to final payment some people will cancel

So you have 6 more cabins to buy for? That’s a lot, but it could happen! Fingers crossed!

  12. If it’s available I buy it, vacation insurance basically! I had a girls trip and drove to port the day of our cruise. I cruise out of Galveston since I live about 4 hours away. The day of the cruise we had bad weather, heavy rain and thunder etc. Everyone showed up late past their checkin window because of the weather the traffic was bad. We showed up around 2pm and we walked straight on. My friend in another cabin took 2 hours of waiting in lines to get on the ship. Meanwhile we were eating a delicious burger and having the drink of the day! We also had the benefit of going to the special line for customer service which was kind of a funny moment. I noticed a line of 15 people and then I saw the line for fttf and I walked up just as a representative came open so I walked up and this lady in the general line said hey the line is back here and I said it isn’t for me, since I was in the priority line. It felt good to get what I needed done and not have to wait! The other added benefit is not having to walk around the ship with my carryon bag! So we have a cruise in November and we have two rooms and we booked it! We are also cruising in June 2019 and booked it for two rooms!

  13. The problem is the crust, the toppings are great! Good quality products! I don’t understand why they can bake fresh rolls daily but they can’t make their own pizza dough! It doesn’t taste remotely fresh, it taste worse than cheap frozen pizza from the grocery store.

  14. I just came through customs this morning and they asked each child who they were and their dates of birth. One of my kids is developmentally delayed and couldn’t give the correct answer for her date of birth. I explained and he said no worries. They asked my 10 year old who his mom is and he is adopted since birth and the smarty pants asked him if he meant his birth mother?!?? I was just glad it didn’t become an inquisition!

  15. We are planning a summer 2019 family cruise as a high school graduation gift for our older granddaughter. Granddaughter #2 will be three at the time (yes, we waited a long time between grandchildren). So here's why I need help - my DIL, who is a wonderful mom, worries about everything. (Her first question about this cruise was whether it would be during hurricane season.)

As a treat, and to give all of us more flexibility in dealing with a toddler (more room, a balcony to relax on while she sleeps), I have booked all balconies. I'm pretty sure DIL's first reaction will be that the three year old - who IS quite the climber - will fall over the balcony rail. I know how high the balcony rails are, and that no child has EVER fallen over, but can y'all help me prepare for her objections? Honestly, this is a woman that is worried sick that the baby will be grabbed by a stranger at the professional baseball game we're going to for our family vacation this summer.

I wish I could agree that she’s over cautious but I felt the same way when my kids were younger. I will say that my dad treated our family to a cruise when my triplets were 4 years old. He also booked a balcony for us. I was nervous taking three toddlers on a cruise, but it worked out wonderfully! I can attest that the balcony door was hard for me to open, so a toddler would find it extremely hard to open. We had rules in place when out on the balcony, no climbing on the chair or tables! My children were constantly supervised! I think if she does her research she will feel more comfortable. There are a lot of videos on YouTube that provide room tours, this helped me show the kids and talk about safety. Have fun!
