I never make reservations for just that reason. I hate feeling like my time on vacation is planned down to the minute. BUT, I'm also really happy to just go with the flow. Can't get in to the restaurant I want...oh well...I'll find something else to eat. Can't get into the show I want....oh well....I'll go find something else to do.
I know my way isn't for everyone.

I'm pretty sure the mayo clinic is cognizant of the causes of food poisoning:

This is nothing but pure speculation, but, if I had to guess, I'd put money on it being tied to the Zika Virus. Perhaps they are hedging their bets that more families will be looking to The Med for summer vacations in order to avoid the Carribbean, and they're hoping to cash in on that.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear...we're using FT over WiFi. We'd never be able to afford the phone calls otherwise. LOL

I have been FaceTiming with my boyfriend on the Oasis for the past few weeks. It's been working great.

This cruise is actually one of my bucket list items. Even though I live in MA and can easily drive to the ports on the itinerary. I dream about spending my birthday (in October) sailing up the coast while sitting out on my balcony sipping wine.
I would definitely would keep a balcony cabin if I had one. And definitely plan on layers. I've frequently been in shorts and flip flops in October and a winter coat in May. I'd bring a couple of pairs of shorts, capris, and jeans. Short sleeved shirts and some light sweaters and a fleece.
Most of the ports could be done on your own, but, to get the most bang for your buck, small tours would be a great option.
Acadia National Park....don't miss it!

Aren't the studios a different category than the insides? Are they considered a "higher category" than the insides? I know that it's been reported that studios are often more pricey than an inside even at double occupancy. But, yeah, I'd be irritated too.
Thanks for the heads up. I guess I'd pass on the guaranty as a single in the future.

Let me make sure that I'm understanding this correctly.....because you choose to have no variety in your travel life......you are actually suggesting that a person should lose their job....their means of making a living.....just so you can be made happy.

When I was on the Oasis, I didn't get off at all. I had been to all of the stops a ton of times, and just wanted to chill. Had a great time, was never bored and enjoyed having the ship be very empty during the port stops.
-
Kind of a long shot, but can you change one of those flights to leave from further north? It's looking now like the storm is going to take a more southerly track, and here in northern MA we're not going to be getting much at all. Maybe leave from Manchester NH (where local news is saying it's going to be a non-event).
Of course, knowing New England weather, that means we'll end up with three feet.

I was on the Adventure in July and was in the dining room. So, I guess it probably depends on your muster station. No, I don't remember what number I was.
-
There is a crew muster drill every week. Typically on a port day when fewer people are on the ship. Some weeks, there is more involved drilling involved. I wouldn't read too much into the boat drills that happened today.

The hotel at the airport does day rates. I think that it was around $120 with a check in time of 8:00 a.m. and check out at 4:00. But, when I inquired, the front desk person told me that a lot of times, you can check in earlier. I can't remember the name of it, but I think it was just San Juan Airport Hotel. LOL.

My trip on the Adventure in July, they were charging $39.95/day, and it was awful. I signed up for a package with three days left that they were offering for $120, and it took me the better part of a day to just get logging in to work. If I had paid for the entire week, I certainly would have been down at guest services raising a stink.

We actually did a last minute road trip from MA once b/c of an impending hurricane. We couldn't get a flight in the day before, so just loaded up the car and started driving. We got a refund from the airline when they cancelled the flight, and we made the cruise no problem.
-
Thanks! I forsee a lot of wasted time at work today. :-)

Ok, thanks....that's kind of what I was figuring was going to happen. I never know how to look this stuff up on marine traffic websites.

where the Adventure is today? I wanted to give my boyfriend a call for his birthday, and I know they were supposed to be in St. Thomas with their revised itinerary, but I'm not sure if they're actually making it or not.
Thanks.

I'm not a big fan of the Summit. Don't get me wrong, if the price and itinerary were right, I'd go back out on it, but all things being equal, I'd go with the the Jewel.
I enjoyed my cruise on the Summit, but, I, honestly, did not find the food, service or ship to be any better than any of the RCCL ships I've been on. I was very disappointed in the evening entertainment.
I did love the fact that they do seven days to Bermuda from NJ, and I got a FANTASTIC price on our Aqua Class cabin. If that happened again, I would certainly not turn my nose up at sailing on her again.

It's a great ship with a fantastic itinerary. I was just on her in July, and it's jumped to the top of my list of favorite cruises.
Search for my posts, and you can read the mini-review that I wrote, someone else was also on the same week and wrote a positive review.
-
I was just on in July and have no recollection of seeing any balloons anywhere. However, I wouldn't risk an anaphylactic episode based on my aging, unreliable memory. I agree with the suggestion that you contact the special needs department vs. just talking to someone on the main phone line.

I don't, sorry. They usually set up the next contract at the very end of his current contract, or the beginning of his break. But, he has a website: scottperhamlive.com, he keeps it updated with his schedule.

Me and jimsohio both just did mini-reviews on the Adventure. If you go up to the top of the page and click on Advnture of the Seas you should be able to find them. I'm too lazy to figure out how to do links.
It's an awesome ship.

Just remembered something else....the hamburger and hotdog rolls were fresh and soft all week in the Windjammer. ALL WEEK!! I have never seen that before, but I love me a crappy Windjammer cheeseburger, and I was able to have one every single day!!
Oasis of the seas- just back on 8/62016

I didn't see any deals on the packages. They did offer the card both weeks I was on, I think it was on Wednesday. Ten for either $69 or $79.
