Hi Plumstead try 0203 451 2868 still have to wait but only ten mins or so and you get through to a Tui shop, well I have the last three times, and they have called back as promised and you can understand them. Good luck 🤞

Thank you but 02034512688 is the number I have used the most found 02034512682 on the email saying change of ship.

But I will try on Monday.

  2. I had an email regarding my booking on the Celebration on Wednesday 10th June 2020, but I had read about the ship coming out of service on the 29th April 2020, but it was not clear when it was coming out of service.

i had already contacted Marella cruises to book my cabin on the 16th April 2020, after moving our sailing date to 2021, three phone calls over 45 mins the first call was to rebook 2nd call to book cabin not put on my confirmation and final 3rd call all correct.

Then Thursday after getting the email with booking reference but no new cabin number I phoned again 34 minutes this time, had a problem understanding the person that took my call, gave up and phoned again in the afternoon still somebody I struggled to understand but in the end after holding on while the lady checked things with her manager, she said she would email my correct confirmation and phone me back 20 minutes later or the next day nothing !!

so Friday I tried again only 17minutes wait !!, I said to the lady would you like my booking reference like I had on my other calls, no she wanted to know my query!

i said I think you should take my booking reference to look at the history of my call, again I had trouble understanding the lady, I asked if I could speak to the person who answered my call before she said there is no name on your confirmation so I said that is one of the things the lady said she would email my confirmation but I have not received, also she was going to phone me back after she had asked her Manager two questions about my new booking, she asked me what the questions were, at this point her tone changed as I said the questions were the ladies not mine so I don’t know, at this point I said to her that is the trouble with call centres people don’t put notes on properly and people don’t look back and read the notes. She said well I can’t help you but I will email you your confirmation again no email !!

The reason I wanted to book my cabin on the new ship is because people would of already booked cruises on the ship and anyone from the Celebration would have a limited choice which I had my third choice !!

so I suggest anyone who has had the email and wants a certain cabin to contact Marella cruises on 0203 4512682 even if you have not received an email get in touch.

Its not the customers fault they took the ship out of service when they are dealing with the virus customers problems

i have booked holidays and cruises with Thomson over the past 46 years,

this is the worst service I have entailed. What makes it harder is the fact I could not understand what was said and I kept having to say sorry can you repeat that which I could tell they were not happy with.

So Monday I will be back on the phone as the booking reference is not on my Booking, so have a got the cruise or not.

That`s disturbing news as I am (was!) booked to go on Celebration April 2021. We haven`t been informed of this officially by Marella. Has anyone else ?

Assuming this news to be true though does anyone know what usually happens in this situation ? Is there even a precedent ?

I have already paid in full, amended booking from my cancelled April 2020 cruise.

  4. Thank you Zenner for your quick reply,it seems like we might be the only English on our trip that starts on the century on the 8th. I am sure the info on cruise critic is o.k. but the replys are not from English people in Great Britain is I would check with RCI nearer your trip.

Hope you have a good time, my place that I wonted to visit was Hanglong Bay but our trip does not go there, but never mind we will enjoy the Phillies.

Take care Plumstead (our first cat)

  5. Zennor did you book through cruise 1st, if you did how did you find out that you could get Vietnam visas on the ship, because we are going round in circles trying to find out who was responsible for telling us. We got our visas one week before we got the email from Celebrity, by going to the Embassy in London, so we wasted time and money.

I would be very greatful for you reply, as you are the only U.k. person to put on a question.

    Thank you

  6. We are having a problem with Celebrity, we got our Visas 2 months before we got an email from them to say that we can get visas on the ship at 6 dollors !!!!. We paid £54 each. Can anyone tell me if they had got their visas before the email, if not where did you find the information that told you that you can get them on the ship.

They said our Travel agent should have advised us but out travel agent said when we booked that visas are not their problem.

  7. We received our email from Clebrity 3 weeks and 3 days before we fly, we had previousley phoned and emailed them to ask if they deal with the visas and in both cases they said no you have to apply yourselve, i am asking any British person on the cruise if they have had the same problem but to date we have not had a reply from a British person.

  8. We are British and we emailed the Vietnam Embassy to ask did we need full visas and they said yes. Travel Agents won't take any resposiblity for visas you are told to contact the embassy concered, we also asked Celebrity and RCC and they both said the same.

If when we get on the ship and find out that they will get visas for you we will take things further.

  9. My Husband went to the Vietnam Embassy to get our visas and he asked the question would we have been able to get our visas on the ship, he was told that the rules changed January 2015, you can get a visa at an airport but not a port.

    Hope this is helpful

  10. Thank you Keenmolly this is the one thing i have come see the Orang utangs you have confirmed that it takes an hour to get there.

Is anybody on the Celebrity cruise Centry ship leaving Singapore on the 8th March, docking at Kota Kinabalu on the 19th March intrested in sharing a taxi to Rasa Ria this would have to be a morning visit starting at 8.30am from the ship as the morning visit starts at 10.00am the afternoon visit starts at 2.00pm and the ship leaves at 3.00pm.

If anyone is intrested i can give them more information later.

  11. So pleased i have found this information, we got our visas 3 weeks ago to be on the safe side. On Sunday the 8th we got an email from Celebrity advising us that they were in negotation with Vietnam about getting visas just for the two days the ship would be visiting and were negotiating the cost but gave us an idea of what it would cost.

I emailed them to say we had got our visas at a cost of £108 approx for 2 people, why had they left it till now to advice us 3 weeks 3 days before we sail, i got a very negative feed back. So now i am very pleased that someone has confirmed the right information. Celebrity said that this new system started in January so they have got it wrong, i don't feel i have wasted my money.

When my Husband was at the Embassy he was told that you can get a visa at Vietnam Airport when you arrive. Not on the Port.

Hope this is useful as well.

  12. The reason I asked the question is because I feel that cruising is loosing some of the things that make a cruise special.

I am only now able to afford cruise holidays, wish I could have cruised 10 years ago when crushing was special.

  13. As you can see in my signature, we are Loyal to Royal D+ cruisers.

Saturday (Oct 11) we will jump ship over to Princess sailing on the Crown Princess out of LA for a 7 day Pacific Coastal cruise.

We booked this cruise for a few reasons, first to do a pay back to friends who are die hard Princess cruisers who came over to our side and did their first RC cruise with us on the Navigator this past May. Second, its from the west coast!! YEAH, a ship on the west coast, something RC has be missing for a few years now. But, they now have opened a few sailing for next year on the Jewel, which we booked the first day it opened!

And finally third, why not? I guess we will see if the grass is really greener on the "other side" :D

Upon our return I will do a comparison, so wish us luck as we embark to uncharted waters! :p ;)

ps.....it will be a real treat not to have a full days flight to get to FL, we still will go a day ahead, just for the relaxation of the start of something new!

The only luck you will need is with the weather and your choice of itinery.

We have sailed on Princess 5 times on different ships they are our favorite cruise line. So just enjoy it with yours friends.

  14. We have just returned from Okinowa on a cruise, no shuttle bus if you are with R.C. people we met walked into the town it was a very hot day and it took them 1 and a quarter hours. We did a shore excursion to the shuri castle not very interesting, some gardens with no flowers and a lake with lots of algea on it and the memorial gardens.

My husband said he wished he had gone to the war museum.

He wanted to see the aquarium, he booked a shore excursion but had to visit the shri castle again he stayed on the coach, the drive to the aquarium took about 2 hours, but he said it was very good. If you want to do it on your own public transport is hit and miss, taxis are expensive we found this out on forum.

    Hope this is helpful !!
