  1. We were told prior to cruising on Celebrity that it was at the Captain's discretion.  The answer came back as a "no".  So we spread her ashes at Magen's Bay, in St-Thomas during the cruise.  We had no issues travelling with the remains (flight from Canada) or at cruise embarkation.  The key was to ensure the remains were in a cardboard canister for ease of security scanning.

Does anyone know what RCCL's policy is regarding ashes overboard.?  My husband loved cruising just like I do.  He wanted some of his ashes to be spread over the back of a cruise ship.  I know there must be many regulations, and I want to do it the legal approved way..  Does anyone have experience in doing this?  Can someone arrange for the Captain to say a few words?

I would appreciate all comments.  Thank you.

  3. Following along as promised in another Enchantment thread!  You both look lovely!  I am glad to hear that you're having a wonderful time so far.  I truly wish you both a cruise that rejuvenates and makes you feel like VIPs after the last couple of years of craziness.

You mentioned being grandfathered in for post cruise testing.  How did you confirm this?  I assume you meant that the cost is waived?

I realize you are traveling without children but are any on board?  I am wondering what kind of children's activities might be available for thing 1 and thing 2 (12 and 14) in these unusual times.  I hope they will not be confined to a circle, given they're fully vaccinated.  Perhaps someone else reading this thread, might be able to answer.

Life's too short, not to get out to sea.  Thank you so much for taking us along!  Jeannine from Ottawa.

  4. Booked on Enchantment out of Baltimore (paying attention to anything edrussell cares to share!) on March 5 .  Driving too. I guess it mitigates risk?  Family of 4 (2 over 12) all fully vaxxed and parents boosted.  DH getting wobbly about the idea.  Hoping our newest nemesis "Omi" clears through North America by end of January since they've been around for a few weeks now already.  Feel like we are extra boosted now since "Omi" went through the house already.  Isolating annoyance now over as today was the first day out of the house since Dec. 27.

  5. Following along too. Never met you Maureen but enjoy your past reviews and current cruise posts. I AM surprised that CruiselifeRick and Yorkvillain have not popped in to comment. Enjoy Playa Mia Maureen. Can't wait to hear all about it. Using "What fresh hell is this?" when things don't go right from now on. :D:DHungry for pizza and mojitos.....

  6. There should be no ships going to PR as it’s horrible there and has not and is not improving. I wish they would change the itineraries for my upcoming cruise as there will be no pleasure going to SJ. The roar of generators and very limited services are plenty

I respectfully beg to differ. Off Celebrity Summit on Saturday. No roar of generators through the streets, many restaurants open in Old San Juan, Luis Munoz airport has power, lights and air conditioning. Some traffic lights not working through San Juan but cab drivers are used to driving through this. Cabs are plenty at the airport and cruise port. Bacardi Rum factory excursion was now available from Celebrity. I cannot speak for the beaches as we did not got to one but perhaps someone else in this thread can. Puerto Rico needs us! Our tourist dollars help and those we came in contact with were super happy we were there. We have to be part of the solution in getting this island and others (Barbuda, Dominica, Turks & Caicos, Sint-Maarten/Saint-Martin) back up and running. Here's an idea while you are in San Juan if you wish to be part of the solution: the huge conference centre is very close to the cruise port and that is "Operation Recovery Central" for FEMA and other agencies. They will take donations. Your cruise ship is aware as many passengers have asked. Captain Kate talked to us about it. Alternatively, pack an extra suitcase of medical supplies and drop it off at one of the many medical centres in need. That's what we did.

Oh, upon arrival in San Juan, wave to the USNS Comfort on your way in. She's there to help too.

Not trying to be preachy, just giving another perspective.

  7. Hoping someone can help us out with this. We are travelling on the Constellation on 24/1/15 with our two children, a shipmate and a cadet. Us, the parents, were hoping to have a dinner without our delightful children in a specialty restaurant one evening. We've experienced on some other cruise lines an organized kids dinner with their peers. Well aware that specialty restaurants can book up quickly, we were hoping that Celebrity offered this kids dinner as well, and, hoped to reserve a specialty dinner to coincide. Two different agents had no answers for us at Celebrity. Please help if you can.
