I believe your comment might be a bit confusing (at least it was for me).  You mean you found lounges on Deck 11 that were in a heated AREA, not that the lounges themselves were heated, correct?  When I read your first post I thought you were saying you found heated lounges.

Scout16 explained it better than I could.  In any case, it was a pleasant place to sit outside, as it was heated (from above), had comfortable furniture, and there were blankets available.  Also generally not crowded.

Boarding in Vancouver for the first time next Wednesday (usually sail Seward to Vancouver), so can someone run me through the boarding at Canada Place?

We will be staying at Sutton Place downtown, so will take a taxi to Canada Place with our luggage to board.  Assume taxi drops off right outside Canada Place. Where do we hand off our luggage? I seem to remember reading something about taking an elevator up to do luggage drop off then going back down to do check in and boarding?

    Thanks for the help!

the taxi should drop you off inside canada place, right at the luggage drop off.  you will walk inside (a short distance) to the check-in counters.

  3. Was on this cruise also.  Had a wonderful time.  I agree with Forgap (above) that the food was not as good as previous cruises.

I would say that about half of the mains that we ordered in Compass Rose were just "ok".  We normally had the Chef's recommendation, or what the waiter suggested.

Also the curries (tried all of them) in Pacific Rim were "off" (I fancy myself a curry expert).  The rest of the food in PR was very good.

Best meals we had (2) were in Chartreuse. Did not eat in Prime 7.

As a comparison, we recently got off the Mariner on a World segment, where the food was universally exceptional.

In any case, the service on the Explorer was outstanding.

Agree that the Veranda was packed at lunch on sea days - a few times had to sit outside at the pool grill, which was fine due to the heaters.

Lol, you seem a bit entitled, never had an issue on the Constellation with rude/unfriendly crew, maybe you should stay on HAL.

    uncalled for.

Just because YOU never had an issue on Connie, doesn't mean someone else can't.

BTW, if someone says they enjoy Carnival, I would not call them entitled.

    Also - go Bucks!

  5. if you are just going to MIA airport, a taxi is the same price and easier (it can be a challenge to find your ride-share, or there can be a LONG wait for one.)  Taxis are readily available and the line (if any) moves quickly

  6. Lots of variables,  but in general you should have plenty of time.

figure off the ship by 8

5-10 minutes to go thru Canada immigration (most times they waive you thru)

    5-10 minutes to get bags

5-10 minutes to get a taxi

30 minutes to drive to airport

    30 minutes to check in

20 minutes for US immigration and customs (bring your global entry card if you have it)

10 minutes to walk to gate

so 90-120 minutes from ship to gate

(I have done it in less than 90 but that is conservative on the low side)

  7. I would recommend doing the trip in reverse order (Anchorage to Vancouver - so a different week)

Fly up to Anchorage a day or 2 early.

Take the scenic train from Anchorage to Seward the morning of the cruise - then get right on the ship.

End the cruise in Vancouver, quick taxi to airport, and much shorter travel day getting home.

Ideally, I would do Vancouver Round trip (back to back) if your time and budget permits.

  8. I have been to Tristan (Seabourn world cruise pre-covid) and there is a small harbor where the tenders port (if you are lucky).  I would estimate that it is 50/50 if you can get in (too windy/wave height)

When I visited, there were no organized tours, we just walked around the Island for a couple hours, which was beautiful and interesting.

Later in the afternoon, some residents came onboard and sold crafts, and the Police Chief (who wrote a book) gave a lecture about life on the island.

Good luck and hope you make it in.

I will try and post some photos tomorrow.
