  1. We got our boosters Sept. 30 (Pfizer).  I'm glad the others have been approved.

Now, we are ready to board the Millinium Oct.27 in San Diego.  We'll do the coast of Mexico and part of South America.  Then through the Panama Canal and ending up in Ft. Lauderdale.

We selected to go out of San Diego because, when we booked, DiSantis was forcing cruise ships not to use "Vaccine Passports."  At least the trip home will be a lot shorter!

  2. We had this problem on the Edge just after it was launched.  We got all sorts of excuses.  The main one seemed to be that it took a long time to process.

Since we cruise about 1x per year, we didn't try to book the next cruise for a while.

Good luck and keep up the pestering.

  3. I sailed on the Millinium prior to its renovation.  Prior posts about the trip are very accurate.

I was on the second Caribbean cruise on the Edge.  It's a lovely ship, but I didn't enjoy their version of faux balcony.  For me, it only made it possible to get into bed without having to crawl over my husband!

This is only a warning for short people only.  My main complaint was that the barstools (including the Pool Bar) are way too tall and there are no ways to get a step up.  There's no small shelf at the bottom of the bar to help hoist oneself.  The Casino Bar was a bit easier, but impossible to pull in.

The only bar where I could comfortably get on the barstool was in the Sunset Bar.  It has a lever to lower the seat.  Unfortunately, I was not strong enough to push it down!  I had way too many embarassing moments trying to get a drink!

Oh, and the bars were so tall, the bartender could barely see me to take my order!

Going on the Millenium in late October.  I can't wait to see the renovations.

  4. I was really a problem with the service.  I ordered the Wedge Salad and it only had tomato and egg, NO BACON or dressing.  After 15 minutes, I managed to flag down the waiter to ask for the missing items.  15 minutes later the watery dressing was poured and bacon added.

I shouldn't have worried, LOL!  It was an additional 25 minutes before our soup arrived.  About 30 minutes later, we had our main course.

We skipped dessert!  It took nearly 2 1/2 hours to eat our meal, most of the time spent waiting.

This happened in the Cosmopolitan on the fourth night.  With the exception of the Wedge salad, the food was very tasty.  I'm hoping you have better luck.  I've read a lot of good reviews about all the dining rooms...

  5. vtcruising has a point.  I just couldn't choose.  The infinite veranda was adequate in size, if not experience.  The beds were fabulous and the storage adequate for our Dec. 16 sailing.  The plugs next to the bed were very useful to my husband, who sleeps with a C-PAP.  The charging station handled all our devices very well.

Quiet places to read were totally lacking for my husband and me.  After 3 days, we gave up and did the best we could.

As for me, my main problem was with the bars.  I don't drink much, but I do like to sit at the pool bar, sunset bar, and the casino bar.  I'm older and only 5' tall.  The pool bar itself was totally inaccessible to me.  They were SO tall!  There was no step around the bar and no support to shimmy up.  The bartenders joked with me that the stools were so tall, hardly anyone sat there!

The sunset bar was better,  although they were tall, there was a small bar to step on.  Once up, the seat could awkwardly adjust downward.

Finally, the casino bar.  For the first part of the cruise, the chairs were very high, very plush, and so wide that you couldn't shimmy between to sit.  In the end, I had to work VERY hard to pull the stool out, seat myself (with an assist from the step around the bar).  Just couldn't pull it back in without help.  Midway through, those stools were replaced with ones that were slightly smaller, but not small enough to overcome the pull, shimmy up, and sit far-far away from the poker game I wanted to play!

On the other hand, seating in all the MDR's was fantastic.  The chairs were comfortable and there was someone to push it into the table for me.  I never had to reach up to the table to eat my food, a common problem for me on land.

I don't jog, but I did walk the jogging path and found the layout interesting.  However, I spent way too much time watching out for and respecting joggers.

This ship was designed for form, not function in many ways.

Next cruise is the Reflection out of Barcelona later in 2019.

  6. We chose select dining and booked our nights among the 4 restaurants.  In the end, we had a bad experience at one of them.  The remaining nights, we chose from another and went early (which is when we eat anyway).  We always got a table for 2 next to the windows.  Their was no problem!

Do you have to have both bifold doors open at the same time or can you just open and close one or crack one open enough to walk out?

Where would it be better to have the bed, by the bath or window?

    Thanks

    happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

We just got back on Dec. 23rd.  We had the IV cabin.  As for the bed positioning, ours was by the  "veranda."  Since my husband uses a C-PAP, he got the interior side for his plug.  We never closed the doors because I would have had to get into the bed on his side or from the bottom.  The doors are THAT close.

Now, if the bed is near the bathroom, access to the closet becomes dicey as the bed is fairly close, from what I saw in a video.

Not a bad cabin at all if you're not an open veranda enthusiast.

It's been changed Sunset Bar Deck 15 Starboard and Next to Pool Bar Deck 15 Port Side.  The second area is actually pretty well separated from the Pool area, so don't worry about being an inconvenience.  The change doesn't make any sense to me, you'd think if you were going to have to areas, you'd want the spaced out.

    Thanks a BUNCH!

  9. Husband and I needed a cruise this December to keep our Blue Chip ratings.  When the Edge offer came in, we jumped on it.  Even though there have been complaints about the cabin we were given, (IV), I don't really mind since most of my time  there is for sleep.

I'm looking forward to new dining experiences, restful time reading and relaxing.   I am curious to experience the new design and features.

I understand the ship was designed with younger travelers in mind.  I hope only that loud noise doesn't overwhelm us as on other cruise lines.

  10. On our last Celebrity cruise this was offered but only a couple of days before the end of the cruise.

The cost then was $20 for as much as you could get in without tearing the bag, but that was a couple of years ago so the price could have increased.

It was to wash & fold only-your clothes do not get ironed.

We packed a bit short and paid $20 for a bag of laundry. HINT: Fold your dirty clothes carefully and you can fit more in. We had one pair of men's jeans and 8 tops. I could have put in a bit more, but I didn't need to.

  11. Just disembarked from the Solstice Nov. 27. There was a terrible Cruise Cough going around starting about 4 days into the cruise. One or two people I met had someone hanging out in the cabin for the day. By the end of the cruise, nobody felt embarrassed. I am pleased that I saw everyone using the hand sanitizers, tissues, etc.

We carry Sudafed, Contac, throat lozenges, and Cepacol. Next time, I'll double that amount!

I didn't have a cold, just a cough that would come up from time to time. Luckily, we were able to go on all our excursions, properly medicated.

Cause? Our group had any number of possible causes:

Allergies (it's spring in New Zealand & Australia) and there are a wide variety of plants that aren't around in other parts of the world.

    Air Conditioning

Dirty air filters The ship just came out of dry dock, so I'm thinking the filters might have all been cleaned.

There was one "cure" mentioned. A lady told us to "leave our cabin doors ajar" so that we'd get better quality air. Huh?

  12. We were on the Solstice last year for a Western Caribbean cruise. One night we had rough seas. The next morning we were told that the Lawn had gotten too much salt water and was closed. From what I saw, the crew has a system of dealing with the salt water. The grass stayed nice and green the entire cruise.
