  1. Does anyone else find this topic extremely interesting as RSSC is mostly occupied by "seniors", who are considered by most of other cruisers as "tech idiots"?

You are on "vacation"!  Unhinge yourself from the technology just for a little while and enjoy your peace.

Money comes and goes.  Your can NEVER get more time!!!!  Spend it wisely!!

  2. My wife always kicks me when I order a vodka tonic with lime, and they ask me if I prefer a particular vodka.... I always rely, " How good is your tonic?" That's when I get the kick!!

Nine times out of ten, the bar tonic out of the multi-beverage dispenser will be flat and with blended flavors.

I believe it best to always order a drink with a premium mixer/tonic. JIMOHO.

  3. We have booked a cruise ending in Lisbon, Portugal and we would like to add Regent hotels and tours to our cruise package.  There was originally a package listed when we first booked our cruise (20 months in advance) and were told that the land tours were all booked up.  There seems to be very little information on this topic in the forum so I thought I would throw it on the wall and see what sticks.  We are looking for a 3 or 4 day extension to our cruise that includes hotel and tours.  I have seen private alternatives, but it would be nice to keep everything with Regent.

    Any help??

  4. We booked a cruise on a Princess ship where our suite is under a "Skywalk".

Looking at the videos available on YouTube, it appears that some balcony's are very open to viewing from above.

Has anyone had any experience with these suites?  Should we be concerned??

Beyond the mask and port issues, we will need to see a complete list of rules and regulations that will apply to any future cruise before we put any money down for one. We get a mailer ad from Regent almost daily.  But many highly likely conditions aren’t addressed in the ads, probably because nobody knows yet. An example is what changes must be made to ensure distancing. Regent will have an easier time with this than cruise lines with less space per passenger, but it will still be a challenge. Another factor is that the pandemic is not easing, instead it is growing. NCLH can exist without booking proceeds only until October, 2021,  and there is certainly no guarantee that cruises will be able to go by then.

We booked our cruise early 2020 for late August, early September 2021.  We picked these dates betting on a vaccine (which is here) and/or most of this insanity would be over in Northern Europe.  Looks like a good bet!!  We are cautious, washing hands, mask when appropriate or require by law, and stay away from sick people!  My presumption is that the intelligent people that would be sailing on a Regent Cruise will be doing the same. The United States is on a trend to have a lower death total than 2019, in spite of COVID-19!!  Flu deaths are almost nonexistent!! All normal death tolls are far below average and below 2019 totals!!

    We're going to cruise!!!

  6. Has anyone done a Super Bowl Sunday at sea on Princess??

We are cruising with Princess on Super Bowl Sunday and "my team" has a chance of being a participant!!  I really want to be prepared no matter what team is going to play!!

I presume the Big Screen (MUTS) has the game live...  Do the bars and casino have special considerations??  Is the game broadcast in the Main Theater??  Special drinks?? Parties??  TIA

I wish I had a dollar for every time this subject comes up...I could extend my December cruise for another week.  LOL!!!

It's a simple answer to what many make out to be a complex situation:  if you want to be formal, be formal...if you don't good for you.  Just don't understand why each side tries to outdo the other on why their solution is best.

We always dress to the max...our group of 12 will have 6 gentlemen in very nice Tuxedos and the ladies will look marvelous!  But that's because we enjoy dressing up when our normal dress each day is scrubs, or a military uniform, etc...  We love to dress up and can give a rat's *** if the folks sitting beside us are wearing pajamas.

What I don't understand though are those fighting for Princess to make a change to their written policy.  If they will let you get away with not following it, then why bother changing it.  What it does, for those new to cruising, is give them an unbiased guideline as to what Princess would like to see on Formal nights.  As long as those newbies avoid CC they will never know the difference.  LOL!  Bottom Line:  dress however you wish...have fun...quit worrying about what I'm wearing...because I sure don't worry about you!!

And there you have it!!  If those other cruise lines fit your dress better...  go for it!!  I'm sure they will welcome your patronage. It's all about MONEY!!  If your opinion and choice of another cruise line is making more money for them, ...  Princess will surely follow to make a profit.

We will still be the couple on formal nights in the MDR, me in the tuxedo with the fabulous lady in an evening gown..  drinking a martini..  making wonderful memories to share and having a great time!

  8. This is just me.. and how you do your formal nights is completely up to you!!  No judgement here...  DON"T judge this!!!

I have always worn a tuxedo on formal nights.  I bought one just for cruises.  We are going on a South Pacific cruise soon and I'm getting a white dinner jacket to fit in the warmer temperature.

Formal wear makes great pictures and memories.  We love and treasure the pictures of us in formal wear on cruises.  It reminds of of the wonderful time we had spending the money we saved to have a good time on vacation.

I have plenty of pictures of all of us in daily dress.  We like a special vacation to have special memories and pictures.

It's a lot of fun to "dress up" and feel like you own the boat once in a while.  I'll smile at you in the MDR ...  give me a smile back!!

Once, when I was on emerald, a team brought a stack of reference books.

    Obviously, very good sports!

The only thing I'm guilty of -- I like to write down the questions (for review during the current game)

If there is a question that my team doesn't know, I can often noodle on it while the game continues,

and think of something in time to add it to the answer sheet.

Also if there is something that requires a calculation.

My wife and I like to play trivia often!

On one Princess cruise we were "interviewed" by a couple to see if we knew enough general trivia to be on their team. To be truthful with you,.. we have a very large cache of Princess trinkets and trash that has been collected as prizes or gifts from Princess that I would love to unload !  We DON'T need anymore!  If you have a better memory than us...  let me buy you a drink and say..  Good on you!!!

It is very obvious when people use additional sources.  If we got the same answer on our own..  who is smarter and who cares??

Hoping some of your experienced Princess cruisers can help a newbie out please. We have taken about 20 cruises before but mostly on HAL, with a few on Oceania & NCL.

1- The balcony cabin we have been offered is opposite a self service laundry, does this cause noise which you can hear inside your cabin?

2- How is the Emerald Princess, compared to other ships in the fleet. Any particular positives or negatives?

Most of time I have chosen to my own laundry, it's been VERY late at night/early morning!!!  I know much as I may try to be quiet..  it is probably way noisier than others think I should be.  Just opening and closing doors late at night when there is no other noise seems very loud.

If it were me..  I'd choose another cabin.  IMOHO

TRIVIA -- Play for Fun & meeting new friends . Don't play & cheat

I have been scrutinized in my previous cruises by several trivia pros just in order to be on their team!! I have personally seen several persons playing trivia with us using media in order to gain an advantage and I have also  reported it ... ASAP.  It's not about the dollar 2 ninety eight prizes..  IT"S.... ARE  YOU SMARTER AT THAT GIVEN TIME THAN US??  I have plenty of Princess trinkets if you need them....   but don't be a cheater..

  12. On our cruise from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale in late October, we stayed at the Hotel Le Germain Dominion Quebec City.  We arrived two days early to see the sites and, trust me...  that is not enough!!  This hotel is reasonably priced, rooms are nice, very centrally located to local transportation and easy walking distance to many restaurants.  Most of all...  it is literally a little over 100 meters from the front door to the front of the cruise terminal entrance!!  It was windy and spitting rain on embarkation, but the short walk was not bad at all.

  13. It's a running joke with my wife and me.... I order a "Vodka Tonic" and they always ask if I have preference of "Vodka?"  My answer, that seems to offend my wife all the time is  "Is your tonic water any good!?"  You shouldn't taste the Vodka in the drink... and gin drinkers always know the difference between good giin and bad gin.

  14. Apologies if this has been reviewed before.

We are sailing on the Emerald early 2020 to the South Pacific.  I think a duvet/topper may be too hot to sleep in that climate even with air conditioning.  What is the process to get two sheets when you get on board?

Do you tip the room attendant when asking for two sheets?  Should there be additional gratuities for the extra sheet?

    TIA

Are you suggesting Princess cruises are on

“luxury” cruise ships?  Are you certain about that?  🤔 😀

    Enjoy your cruise.

I enjoy EVERYONE of my Princess cruises.  I paid my fare and would like to enjoy my cruise thinking everyone else paid good money to have a good time and worth ALL the the money they paid. I don't think that it is correct that just because you want to diminish your experience...  you should be able to affect all of the others.  Enjoy every one of your cruises...  make them a very memorable experience and don't be the odd man out!!!!

  16. A Princess cruise is not a camping trip, no matter how much your paid for your accommodations. When you are on a "Luxury" cruise ship ..  act like you are getting one up on everyone , (because your are) and be just a bit over the top with your actions, manners and attitude.  We ALL have paid the fare... you get to make it a big deal or not with your actions and appearance.  IMOHO!!!

  17. I'm always in for Sip N Sail cruises!!! Doesn't take long for the main bartenders and waiters to know you are "Sip N Sail" and know what your preferences are.. plus, no signing, no adding tip..... and if you tip them with cash.. you will always get the BEST service!!! Special coffee, water, wine with dinner, cocktails at the pool, drink before dinner, cocktail after dinner.... I think I get a deal. But that's me. I don't like the surprise bar tab at the end of the cruise and then thinking it might have been better to have bought the drink package. My wife is not much an alcohol drinker.. champagne, prosecco at dinner occasionally, the fancy daily drinks once in awhile... but mainly foofoo coffee and water. Sip N Sail all the way!!!

  18. We always get a suite when available. We had to stay a"mini-suite" once cuz the "Suites" were all booked. Suites are better, and in my own humble opinion... worth the extra. I see lots of people on this site who stay in interior rooms, obstructed views, next to the nightclub, and or by a busy passage. To each their own I say... Lax et Lux.
