  1. I currently have B749 reserved for a 2 week Mediterranean cruise. The prices have dropped, and made the mini-suites the same price I paid for my aft balcony. My question is, would you keep the corner aft balcony or switch to the mini? Is there much noise from Club Fusion when music is playing or they are having Bingo?

Does E731 have any sort of aft view at all?

Thanks for any input on this question.

  2. I had some kind of inkling that they kept records of when you call, I know some people call for the smallest things, but to them even the smallest things are important to YOU. So if I call my TA to call Princess about something, then I become a PITA? In that case Princess better rethink customer service, guess where their paychecks come from.

You could become a PITA (pain in the arse) to your TA. Depends how many times you call and what you call for. Of course those in customer service will always act graciously and polite to the consumer. It's what goes on behind the scenes you need to think about. ;)

  3. You are scheduled to sail--this week---? You don't have a cabin assignement --YET--

You have paid in full? You have a confirmation number?

Why would you think you aren't sailing on this cruise?

Princess is known for the "HUCA" plan. If you don't like or don't understand what the agent is saying --Hang Up, Call Again.

Did you book through Princess or a TA?

All I am getting from your post is that--something amiss about a "guarantee" cabin.

You do realize of course, that every time you call Princess it is noted in your record. They do keep track of what you are calling about. Your HUCA plan could turn you into a PITA in Princess's eyes.

Seems like CoconutCruiser is just being a drama queen. Unless they get a move-over offer, they are sailing this week.

All those nervous Nellies should stop booking guarantees. It is not like everyone is going to get a great upgrade for doing so. Many seem to be under the impression that if they book an inside guarantee they will given a full suite. Most upgrades are within the same category.

  4. I know the assignment may be up to anytime, but I was more curious because I noticed the inside cabins being sold out. I believe there is only mid forward open right now. Plus Im getting impatient. All my previous guarantees were assigned within a few weeks of booking. My friends has been assigned and she booked after me.

Well, perhaps if you are so impatient, you should not go with a guarantee. Just pick you cabin and be done with it. No one on this board is going to be able to tell you when you cabin is going to be assigned and what kind of cabin you will get.

Insides being sold out has nothing to do with what inventory is left. Princess has already figured out and taken into consideration all guarantees that need to be assigned.

  5. We have booked a guarantee Premium Ocean View cat 05 on the Golden Princess for the Hawaii cruise Brisbane - Sydney August 2017

As there are only 2 of these cabins S702 & S704 in the whole ship the changes of getting one is pretty slim.

Has anybody else booked these cabins on a guarantee and have been given another cabin? if so what type of cabin did you get.

    Noddy

If I had one of those cabins, I would have it marked 'no upgrade'. They are absolutely beautiful with floor to ceiling windows, marble bath. They actually cost more than a balcony room.

  6. It could be something new or just something actually written down on paper instead of just being passed word of mouth. Who knows till they officially release something. At this point it's just rumor.

Then why are you spreading unsubstantiated rumors on CC??

  7. Something like Zumba should not be held in the Atrium, just because of the floor. It is marble. Who exercises on a marble floor?? You need wood or something with a little give. Imagine falling on that? The beating your joints take?

Besides if one wants to enjoy a cappuccino at the IC, who needs loud music accompanied by heaving breathing and perspiration?

Why can't they use the fitness center or open deck for exercise classes?

Perhaps the new builds should consider a designated area for all work out classes, line dancing, ballroom dancing etc.

  8. I will be on the Coral Princess next month, so I have a question for those that might know if they serve Ribeye steaks in the Bayou Cafe? If not can you please tell me what kind of steaks they do serve?

Usually on embarkation night in the MDR they have prime rib. I like it, especially with the horseradish sauce. :D

  9. Hello All!

Quick question...looking at a future cruise and it will be on the Crown.

They have a lot of Aft Balcony cabins available. In your opinion which would be the best bet? We have never sailed in one of these and would love to experience this.

All of Baja, D734, D735, E734, E735 are all available. Some of these look like they have larger balconies than some, but I trust y'alls opinion more!

    Thanks so much!

My favorite aft balconies are B748 & B749 as well as C752 & C753. Corners are the best.

Of the others you listed Dolphin deck is preferable to Emerald, since Emerald is over Club Fusion, there could be more noise.

  10. Am paying double for my meals as a solo I ALWAYS make certain I get a good meal in the MDR traditional. I have no qualms what so ever replacing or sending stuff back to the kitchen if it is not to my liking. That is the one advantage without having a guilty feeling that solos have.:p;)

I guess you have never worked in a restaurant kitchen! Anyone who has, would never send back a meal. ;)

  11. She was in port with us last week. Looks like either some ships will have to pass this port or tender. Yikes!

Since Celebrity was the cause of the damage, their ships should have to tender for the rest of the season. Why should other cruise line passengers have to pay the price for their incompetence?

  12. We just got off island. Cruise director was Michael Witte. We didn't see him a lot but this cruise was not about the entertainment for us as mush as the scenery etc. I thought the shows with the princess singers and dancers were lacking. They had a guy who played piano in the princess theater twice that was crazy good.

    Thank you! :)

  13. Speaking of credits, is there any way you can check how many you've racked up? I've been able to find my tier, but not how many points I need to get into the next level.

From the Personalizer, under Personal Profile, click on My Profile.

Then under Member Profile, click on Cruise History. You will now see all the cruises you have taken and the number of days and credits.

  14. You are paying the cost of the CABIN...you need to stop thinking in "per person" terms!

Well, employing that logic, should those who occupy a quad cabin but are only a duo pay the fare for 4 passengers? That is what the cabin could hold, so now Princess is losing out on those 2 extra fares.

  15. I have cruised with Princess many times and decided I wanted to get my parents into cruising. I booked them on a Alaksa Cruisetour, and the good news is they really enjoyed cruising and would be interested in trying it again.

Now for the frustrating and disappointing part of the trip.... We purchased EZ Air through princess in order to make their first cruise experience as seamless and easy as possible... Or so we thought. The outbound flight prior to the cruise had no issues, it was coming home.

The flights were on Delta, and I had confirmation from Princess that the flights home were booked. 24 hours prior I received an email from Delta advising it was time to check in. When I went to Delta's site I was able to see their itinerary, and selected seats; however was unable to check them in as their tickets "could not be validated and to see an agent at the airport".

My parents get to the airport to see discover their seats had been booked, however Princess apparently DID NOT actually pay Delta for the flights. In order to get home and not be stuck for at least 24 hours, they had to pay almost $4000 to purchase last minute seats on the sold out flights. One of the Princess greeters at the airport, advised that they just pay for the tickets to get themselves home and worry about refunds later.

So far I have spoken to Princess who assures they paid for the tickets and did everything correct on their end, however they will not contact Delta to investigate what had occurred and then decide if a refund can/will be issued.

At this point, I don't believe their should be any question about the refund... We booked through EZ Air to keep it Easy, not stressful. What a way to end a fantastic first cruise. I also expressed to Princess that we expect a full refund for the almost $4000 charge.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how was it handled and did Princess make it right in the end?

If the flights were SOLD OUT, how were they able to buy tickets?

  16. IMHO I believe it changed around 2011-12. At one point you could find a solo cruise at around 130% for some sailings. Now it seems the only discount a single can get is if you are eligible for something like the Casino rate add on.

Since my retirement....ive offered Free cruises to my brother and best buddy--DW still works. Because with no discount. ..all that is needed is the additional taxes :)

Next April my brother is sailing on a 17 day TA for Airfare and $135 in taxes......he's loving it.

How about some single cabins on the New builds.

Yes, I could not agree more. Why can't they put a few single cabins on the new builds or on the older ships when they go to dry dock?

You cannot believe how many 'free' cruises I have offered friends, with them just having to pay the port fees, grats and whatever they spend. So far I have not had a single taker!!!

What a bunch of duds! They would rather travel with their SO than get a free cruise. I need to find more single friends. :)

  17. On our cruise in Sydney they enforced it. Maybe it's an Australian thing since we observed that overall rules/laws seemed to be enforced and people complied. Not like here in the US where so many people think that nothing applies to them.

Well why should they when everyone on CC tells them, "it is only a suggestion, show up whenever you want!" Same with dress code, chair hogs, adult only areas, etc, etc, etc........

  18. A lot depends on the time of year. If you're flying during holidays or school vacations, the airports can be a mess with very long lines. There's no way to predict whether Immigration will have just a couple of officers as you disembark the ship or whether the TSA will have just one or two officers handling Security at the airport.

A couple of years ago, we were flying home from MIA and there was just one TSA line for all passengers whether you were TT, First Class or coach. I was flying First Class and it took me an hour and a half to get through.

It's been all over the news recently that it's recommended that you arrive at the airport two hours before your flight.

If you book earlier than 11:30am (Princess recommended time), be sure you have Plan B to fall back on. I try to book after Noon but that's because I don't want the anxiety and stress after a cruise.

The recommended arrival time is now 3 hrs before your flight. Just saw that last night on the news. On one cruise we had a passenger die the night before disembarking. No one got off the ship before 10am! Lots of missed flights that day.

  19. Will the stateroom attendant be able to provide a corkscrew?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

The SRS might have one you can borrow, but you won't be able to keep it all cruise. We always bring our own.

  20. But why, if Princess expressly asks passengers not to leave their balcony door open, do people think that it's OK to ignore the request? I just don't understand.

Well don't you know it's their vacation too and they can do as they please. Just like when folks don't adhere to the dress code, smoking rules, adult only areas, chair hogs. Princess never says anything to anyone no matter what rules they are breaking. It's the new entitlement mentality.
