  1. I questioned this with Carnival Fun Shops via telephone as I did order a birthday cake and soda/water package for my cruise in March. They told me that they don't send a receipt or place it on the cruise documents due to many that purchase items to be used as a "surprise" or gift for a spouse or significant other and they don't want the surprise to be ruined. They will be happy to send you a receipt if you call and place the order and ask for one to be sent to your e-mail.

  2. Not just that you wont get your choice of seats on the flight...you may not get the flights you want either. Load factors are in the 85% range right now, and that's systemwide. Which means many are going out at 100%.

I'd agree with the advice to wait a few days until the northeast mess is sorted out. Those agents are frazzled and just want to move people through the queue as fast as they can. Better to wait and get an agent that will be happy to spend the time to work with you. (or at least improve your odds of getting one)

I have the same situation with flights for my cruise in March and this is a non-stop domestic flight that they have changed 4 times already. Last night I noticed another flight change and immediately called the airline customer service. I was speaking with a representative in less than 30 seconds. When, if ever, do they "lock" a flight to a schedule? When it's sold out?

  3. I really thought it was. Now I don't normally mind when the ship rocks a bit. It reminds me that we are on the ocean and kind of rocks me to sleep even. It was just a different kind of motion up there. Not the up hill down hill can't walk straight kind, but a more subtle, more nauseating kind of motion. We sailed on the Sunshine out of New Orleans last April and being on the Mississippi, we had ALOT of movement. In fact the last night of the cruise when were going into Port Canaveral(it was a repositioning) it was terrible. We were kept awake because we were all the way aft and our closet doors kept slamming open and closed. Even in that I never felt seasick, but the forward Splendor cabin really got to me. I'm just being honest with my experience and not at all telling you that it will be yours. As I said before, we enjoyed the convenience of our spa cabin, but I would not book another one just because of the motion.

Thank you CruisingSoon88 for your quick reply and honesty. You gave me quite a bit of information to consider.

  4. We were in a spa cabin on deck 11 last month on the Splendor. It was more motion than I have ever felt and we did not have rough seas. We have been in aft cabins before even as high as deck 8, but they were nothing compared to that high, forward cabin. I have been on 9 cruises and am not usually prone to seasickness, but it did get to me. I would not recommend these cabins to anyone who may have motion issues. As others have said, choose another location for your cabin and buy a spa pass.

I am booked in a spa balcony cabin on Deck 11 of the Splendor in March. Is the motion on this deck that noticeable? First time I have ever sailed in this forward of an area on a ship.

  5. Plenty of cabs but you may have to wait for a few minutes or longer. When you exit the terminal you will see the line of people waiting for a taxi, so I would recommend being in one of the first groups to be called off the ship. Remember that your ship could be one of several in that day and many of those passengers are also going to the same airport as you are. :)

Thank you both for your quick replies and the information. Very Helpful!!!

  6. I was wondering for those in the know, are there plenty of cabs at the Port of Miami to take you to the Miami airport for a 12:10pm flight post cruise or is it better to use Carnival transfers?

  7. We have always flew into FLL the day before our cruise. Air flights are really high this coming March so I checked around different airports. If we fly in and out of Miami it will be half the price I have found. We are thinking about getting the ship transfers from Miami and back to the airport and staying one night in Miami on our return. We would like to find a hotel that will pick us up at the airport and stay one night and have them take us back the next morning for a early flight home. Does anyone have any suggests where to stay.

Finding flights to Miami are very high right now for March as well. I don't know whether to book our flights now or wait until January in hopes that the costs go down?

  8. Love the Chef's Table. Have reviews below within my review (check the Valor - it has more of a blow by blow but we also did it on the Dream - different experiences each time but both good!)

Loved reading your reviews!!! You are very thorough with your information and unbiased. Extremely Well Done! As it has been over 12 years since my last cruise I am trying to get as much new information as I can. I feel like a first time cruiser again. Thank you!!!!!

  9. Just attempted to reserve a Chef's Table for March 2015 on the Splendor this way. Will inform if/when I get a response as I have already received a confirmation steakhouse reservation e-mail. Thank you for your advice.

Late yesterday evening I received a confirmation of the reservation for the Chef's Table.

  10. Looking at what flights are available in March 2015 to go from Philadelphia, PA to POM. Available non-stop flights are on embarkation day at 6 am and again at 8 am. Do I take one of the early flights on embarkation day or fly to Miami the day before just in case any problems arise? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  11. We have been to Chefs table on three different ships. Each time I emailed the steakhouse with booking # , cabin and name. I indicated that I was reserving Chefs table

  12. Carnival will not deliver a cake to the Steakhouse. I requested it via phone as I made reservations to the Steakhouse on the Splendor in March for my sisters birthday celebration. They will only deliver cakes to the cabin or the MDR

  13. We applied for our passports on May 1 and received them on May 10th without paying for expedited service. Mine was a renewal and The Hubbs' was his first application.

The only glitch was that his original birht certificate wasn't good enough because it did not have his parents' names on it. He was able to get a new BC same day at a different government office.

In Pennsylvania also and have been waiting over a month to get my birth certificate. My original one didn't have my parents' names on it either and was unacceptable. Only in Pennsylvania!!! I can't even apply for a passport until I get the proper birth certificate.
