Read the MSC policy that you posted.

You lose the deposit. No refund.

Whether is just $199 or $597 depends on the MSC policy on when changes are considered are cancellation. You need to look at the terms and conditions for your specific booking.

I know but is it the deposit of the person who is cancelling (the other 3 will still be going) or the entire deposit...that's what not specified.   Logic would dictate that it would just be the deposit of the person not going, which is $199 not the $597.  I am not complaining about losing the deposit, I'm just trying to clarify msc math skills.

  2. MSC YACHT CLUB 5 TO 14 NIGHTS:

Cancel 61 days or longer prior to departure: Deposit Non−Refundable

Cancel 60−46 days prior to departure: 50% of the total fare*

Cancel 45−16 days prior to departure: 75% of the total fare*

I have a cabin of 4, 3 adults and one youth.

I booked my trip onboard and deposits were $199 per adult and nothing for the youth -- total $597.

I might have to cancel one of the adults, so MSC cancellation policy is a little different than others, in that 61 days or longer, I would only lose the deposit (and wait forever for my refund for the adult that cannot go).

What is weird is the inconsistency with the MSC agent, one told my TA that I would lose $199 (which makes sense) but the other said I would lost $597 (total of all three deposits).

Any one been in the same boat (I mean ship)... and side question, how long did it take to get your refund.

This situation would be easily solved if my DD (the one that might have to cancel) can just go but we won't find out until mid may (within the 61 days or longer).

Not to derail this or not but imagine my surprise when a gentleman came into Le Muse on Divina for dinner is a tank top, shorts, and a bandanna on his head.  It was not gala night but still I was still taken aback.

Maybe he thought it was 80's night?

  4. With a family of 4, I like that NCL Haven has a 2 bedroom option -- I wish YC had something similar.

YC prices are better than Haven (but starting to catch up -- too many people liking it I guess -- supply/demand), so I pick YC.

Food -- subjective --  my friends like the Haven food better than YC, even though the menu doesn't change.

I like that I don't need to show them my ship card everytime I need to get a drink (haven't been in haven for a while, so not sure if that changed).  Plus my kids drinks are also included.

I love the lounge that overlooks the front of the ship and the pool deck bar/food area.

Try it -- you might just like it -- we have, so that's my my last cruises have been on MSC YC.

We were on 19 in 19016 and I actually would not recommend that cabin location. It was the only YIN that was left when we booked so I just accepted my fate, but I think it's under the YC grill kitchen. You could hear what I think were dishwashers pretty much always and bangs were frequent during prep and service. The former was no big for me as it just sounded like white noise, but the bangs woke me up a few times and woke my husband more than a few. I'd aim for 18 if you have the option (or at least the other YINs on 19).

On Dec 2024 we are in the 19022 and 19019 -- oh well -- I'll just drink more and drown out the noise for my wife with my snoring...

Also, one single toilet bathroom at the YC restaurant?!

There are fancy outhouses just outside the beach house...

Butlers, we have found, are not trained to confront steerage. We experienced this when we were being escorted to a show when a drunk came out from the Jungle Pool and slammed his fist on the elevator key pad trying to break it right in front of the three of us. We waited for the butler to do something. All he could do was roll his eyes at us.

What did you expect him to do???  But I agree, would be nice some signage or a butler in front of the pack and another behind to help us through the crowds.  I am planning to take my parents on their first YC in August, and they have some mobility issues, so I hope the butler doesn't dash and leave us in the wind...

  7. Thanks for you review...

I was just on the Seascape and when I asked the butler about the override button on the elevators -- he said it wasn't working on this ship.

I found the burgers to be not as great as the ones I had on the Seaside and Seashore.  These reminded me of the ones I had on my med cruise, which I factored as being not in america.  The ones on Seaside and Seashore looked plumper and homemade, Seascape's looked store bought.

The one thing I noticed about MSC (because I ventured out of the YC), not many food choices if you were not in the YC, as there is on RCCL (the most) and NCL (chicken pot pie and wings at Ncl O'sheehan's).

That's a great rate for your room -- were you on deck 18 or 19?

Our last Seashore out of Port Canaveral (last week)  did ask for our health questionnaires.

I printed it out, filled it up but no one took it -- they just wanted the passports.

  9. Same room for us in Dec 2024 -- thanks for letting me know...some extra drinks should do the trick.  My snoring should be louder than the banging...I think right above the rooms is the kitchen/prep area for the pool...

  10. On my Dec cruise out of Miami -- they wanted us out of the room by 8am.  Off the ship?  not sure about that but I would rather get off early than to go through the maze of people (even though the butler will escort you) and then trying to get an UBer with everyone else later in the morning.
