  1. Hmm....

    • I assume this is the $149 package you are looking at...
      http://vancouvertours.com/tour/pre-cruise-northshore-tour/
    • Grouse admission is $44
    • Capilano is $38
    • tour mentions drop off at airport. This can mean $18 savings per person ($35 carload)
    • how much would you pay for luggage storage at the cruise terminal?

Going through the math.... it's about $30 extra to use LandSea's post-cruise tour. If you value your time and can't wait for the free shuttles that can get busy.... the LandSea tour option may be justifyable.

Thank you!! This is the information I was looking for.

  2. I'm talking about either booking thru the tour company, or my husband and I getting tickets on our own, and not using the tour company. Does that make sense?

I'm looking at the price difference between using the tour company, or purchasing tickets and getting transportation on our own to the pier.

Is it worth it to spend the extra money.

  3. I am looking to take the North Shore tour. If we book this on our own, we'd pay $200, but if we go through the tour company we are looking at 149 pp.

I did search the forum about the company, but seemed to only find outdated reviews.

Is paying the extra money worth it? This is our first cruise, I don't want to screw anything up!!

  4. I was looking at some daily newsletters for a cruise that a friend had taken

In one of them, was a flyer to buy 2 cartons of cigarettes for about $20.

I was advised that the level of nicotine is higher in them....curious to know if this is tru.

  5. My first cruise is coming up next month, for Alaska. We splurged on a balconey.

People have told me that I wouldn't be in my room much....while that may be true, my husband and I decided that it was worth the price since we don't foresee doing this trip again.

I've had a couple people tell me that for Alaska, they would do the balcony, hands down

  6. We are doing an alaskan cruise in June, but without our boys. Ages 13 & 4.

Mostly due to cost...the boys will be with my parents. I also felt it would be nice for just DH and I to enjoy a vacation together...do what we want, when we want. My son, 13, doesn't mind not going.

  7. Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Walk

We are doing this excursion...I am excited. I know some that where there.

I originally had us down for the lumberjack show and a tour of the area.

I'm happy with my decision to change.... we will check out the town after the nature walk.

  8. I hope this is the right board to post this. That said, I mailed passport applications for my husband and I on Jan 12th. So far there is no update as to if they've been received. I'm nervous b/c our birth certificates were mailed with the applications.

This morning, I read that they strongly encourage a large envelope and tracking when sending applications....of course, I find this info after I mail them.... ugh!!!!

  9. We were not offered the extended tour into Denali through Princess "due to time restraints". We were able to book a tour by ourselves and arrange independent transportation from the lodge to the Wilderness Access Center.

We have the same dilemma in June. I know we don't want the shorter tour, I need to look into this as well. Not working with a TA, so I hope I don't screw it up! ;)

  10. Years ago I tried to work on an Alaska cruise. At the time, I didn't know anyone that went on one. DH didn't know where in Alaska he wanted to go. I eventually gave up.

Now we are taking an Alaskan cruise in June, thanks to a couple people I know that have recently done it. I am SO excited!! DH finally gets his dream trip, and I get my cruise.....win win

I'm having a lot of fun being hands on with our trip.... researching, watching you tube videos, etc etc.

  11. Right now, I have our excursions booked through the ship. Now I'm curious about the difference in prices.

Being that this is my first time cruising...I will admit to be a little nervous about booking excursions on my own. Afraid i will screw up or something.

What are the suggestions on this? For Alaska, what are the local groups I can book them from?
