  1. I was recently there for the first time on a tour. We spent about two hours and it was not enough. There are flower markets, farmer's markets, markets for everything everywhere, as well as high end boutiques along the narrow streets of the old town. One shop specialized in beautiful ballet toe shoes which I took a photo of. Bakeries and cafes to stop for a coffee or lunch were plentiful. Baguettes were three for 2€, wonderful pastries. Next time I will plan a whole day in Aix.

    Thanks for the info.

  2. Thanks for posting whilst on holiday. Your journal is definitely making me even more excited about taking this cruise in the fall.

Have you noticed if they have been offering any drink specials for those who don't buy the drinks package? On my last cruise they offered 10 drink tickets for a fixed price, about halfway through the cruise. I'm not sure if they are doing anything similar in Europe.

Someone on another thread posted a few Compasses. I think it was the day at sea where I saw that offer in the Compass.

  3. Thank you for sharing your experiences. That was exactly what I was wanting to hear. I have read a lot of threads about the ferries not sailing and the trains being crowded. As much as I would like to charter the boat, I think we can save a lot of money and have a good experience by being flexible and going on our own. Thanks again.

  4. Hi all,

We're a family of 6 adults/teenagers arriving on the RCL FoS on June 14. I am interested in exploring the Cinque Terre. I found a boat tour that will take us down the coast and let us get off to explore one of the cities; that tour sounds ideal but it's fairly expensive. I was exploring other options including taking the train or the ferry and doing it on our own. I would love to see the coast from the water and maybe spend some time swimming or snorkeling. Although I would enjoy hiking between at least one of the cities, there are several in our party who probably don't want to. Anyone have any experience or ideas?

    Thanks,

    Donna
