I went thru the process in Feb of the year.  The NCL cruise went from Dubai-Athens.  Did the overnight NCL excursion ( Safaga, overnight, then charter flight to Cairo, fly back to Hurgurtha to get the ship).  The  day before, they called each deck by number to line up at a certain location.  You wind thru the line, give your passport to Passport Control.  Once you get in line, it takes about 20 min ( the waiting in line is the longest part).  It may be cheaper to get one on your own, but IMO, its worth the extra money to have NCL take care of everything..

    Hi 9tee2Sea,

Would you clarify, did you mean February, 2023 in your previous post?  Thank you so much🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  2. Hi Guys,

We finally received all the refund from Princess, the last 2K showed up on my c c website (dated 6/4/20) today.  This nightmare is finally over for us.

    Ship Name:  Crown Princess

Sail date : 4/25/20 14 days Mediterranean  whatever

    Deposit made:  5/8/2019

    Final payment paid : 1/23/20

    Option 2 selected:  3/16/20

    FCC posted:  4/23/20

First refund showed up:  6/3/20 (70% of the total owed, dated May 29, 2020, 79 days after the selection)

Final refund showed up:  6/8/20 (dated June 4, 2020, 84 days after the selection)

So, indeed it will take up to 90 days to get all your money back, no kidding!!!!😠

Compared to Princess,  a small tour company at Italy called ItalyTours.eu refunded all my money in one week, United airline (as much as I hated them) refunded me in two weeks after I cancelled my flights.... even Allianz refunded me 3 weeks after I contacted them!!!!  What can I say🤷‍♀️

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting!!!  I do believe they will refund eventually, they are just managing their cash flow, that's all!

We had made final payment on Feb. 28th for our June 3, 2020 Alaska/Cruise tour aboard Coral Princess.  A week later Princess changed the final payment date to April 3, with notice that you could cancel with full refund by the that date.  We cancelled on March 23rd and were told by our TA that refund would be within 30 days, which then became 60 days and we are still waiting.  I've tried calling Princess and since I used a TA they won't tell me anything.  I have continued to contact my TA and am told my refund is in process.  I have advised her that I will file a dispute with my cc company on June 11th, the day after the cruise moved into the tour portion.  She said that may delay the refund even further, but at this point I am so frustrated with Princess I plan to follow through with it.  Princess is doing great harm to this customers loyalty!

    Hi,

This is totally BS,  I used TA too but Princess representatives were able to give me my info.  Ignore whoever told you that lie, call Princess, they know more than your TA.

  4. Hi Guys,

OK, I finally got something; I got 70% of my refund.   I split my cruise fares between two Chase cards (to take advantage of Chase's promotion getting bonus miles, now I wish I haven't done so😖).  Princess only processed one of them on 5/29/2020 and the credit hit my account on 6/3/2020.

I placed a call to Princess today and was told that the other part of my refund is " In the work, yes, they are aware of it, they have started working on it but the process has to go through several different departments.  I will get my money sooner or later" !

And, of course, she couldn't give me a date when my other 30% will finish being "processed"...  at this point I am just  thankful they happened to pick the higher amount to refund me.  I am still owed 2K but I am feeling a wee better.

    Sail date:  April 25, 2020

    Option #2 :  March 16, 2020

    First Refund:  June 3, 2020..

Remainder of my refund:  NO IDEA🤷‍♀️

  5. Hi guys,

When I called Princess last Wednesday (May 27, 2020), I was told that my refunds have been processed on May 22, 2020 and it should get to my credit cards by the end of the week, which was May 29, 2020.   Of course that didn't happen, I was planning to call the Customer Relations direct number on Monday.

However, out of boredom, I've placed another call to Princess this afternoon, yes, today is Saturday and all the important people just don't work on Saturday,  to my big surprise, an agent came on the phone very quickly, less than 5 minutes.😳  She told me my refunds were "released" yesterday, that meant that the funds have left Princess's account and gone to my credit card number XXXX and XXXX.  I've used two Chase cards to pay for my cruise fares and excursions, so this new information actually sounded a lot more promising.

I guess I'd still call the Customer Relations and ask about this again on Monday,   since I've got nothing better to do.  😬

    Sail Date: April 25, 2020.

    Option #2 :  March 16

    25% FCC :  April 23, 2020

  6. Hi guys,

I've placed a called to Princess this afternoon, got put on hold for 20 minutes then an agent came to the phone, I was waiting for her to read the regular scripts (working very hard to get us our refund blah blah blah), surprisingly,  she told me my refund was process last Friday (May 22, 2020) and should appear on my cc probably end of this week.   I didn't ask for the "Customer Relations" since end of this week is two days away, we shall see🤷‍♀️

My sail date was April 25, 2020, submitted the option # 2 on March 16, 2020.

We received our cruise fare and ports fees back to our credit card today.  No easyair fares, which

were over 8,000us, flex-air.  Delta had contacted us in early April and said that Princess had

received the monies from the cancelled air at that time.  Princess, now says that they

can no longer see the air, so no refund.  I will turn this mess over to our credit card company

    to deal with

Princess cannot see the air, so no refund?!!!!  How horrible 😱   Did they emailed you a receipt when you first paid them?   Now I am worried about my excursions.... Princess changed the route before they cancelled my cruise.... you know when they changed route, my paid excursions also disappeared.... but at least I have an email receipts from Princess for reservation.

    This is such a mess!!!!

I can’t speak to whether the dispute expedited processing on Princess’ part.  We disputed the final payments, but I had charged the original deposit on another card that I didn’t bother  filing a dispute on since it was only $400.  Today Princess credited both cards for the entire amounts paid with each.  Hope that helps provide more clarity.

So Princess refunded you the whole cruise fares, right?   Or Amex credited the amount that you disputed, Princess gave you back the deposit you didn't bother to dispute?    Thanks

Well, here is our experience.  We selected option 2 for our cancelled 4/29 Hawaii cruise on 3/12.  Were told 30 days to process - when we hit 6 weeks, we disputed with Amex because we were no longer willing to wait for the return of our $10k plus.  Amex was amazing - gave us immediate credit.  Princess had the FCC credit to us by the end of April and they just processed our final refund reconciliation  today.  So, the good news is refunds are moving now.  That being said, we have no regrets that we took action and diputes the charges to expedite the release of our funds.  Hope everyone else sees their refunds soon!  Now, looking forward to more future cruising on a variety of our favorite cruise lines, including Princess. I think they ended up doing the best that they could given the extraordinary circumstances.

    Hi,

Would you elaborate the "final refund reconciliation" process?   Was it because you had filed the dispute so it kind of speeding up the refund process?  Thanks

  10. Hi guys,

I've just called Princess, got hung up twice but finally someone answered the phone.  Ok, the dude was really nice, he said he was told this morning by his supervisor who also oversees a refund team of 60 people, that they are currently working on CC refunds of pause one customers, they are on schedule to finish the pause one customers refund by the end of May.   I don't know if this is true or just another lie to get us off their back by the end of May.  I really don't know.   My husband told me to sit tight and wait but I just can't 😫

I think everything is relative also. Some people are out $1000 while others are out $20,000. That is a huge difference in how one reacts potentially on their situation. There are also a lot of people who are suddenly out of work who never expected that and this refund could help them out tremendously. Not everyone's situation is the same - try to be sensitive to that.

    Coral,

Well said, I couldn't have said it better !!!

BTW, a little update on my Allianz insurance case, I've gotten the refund last Friday, it took them only three weeks.   So now I have gotten refund from United airlines, a small tour operator in Italy (ItalyTours.eu, $700+) and travel insurance, NOTHING from Princess..... this is pretty uncool to me.   I've tried to be understanding, but this is NOT the proper way of treating your clients.

PS:  Sorry for mispelling your name.... I finally realized it is Coral, not Carol 😃

If we want to get specific, the policy in effect for pause 1 cancellations (March through May) was 30 days to process refunds and FCCs. Pause 2 changed to 60 days, but I never received any communication from Princess to advise me this 60 days applied to pause 1 as well. Princess arbitrarily decided to do this. Now they are not even giving a timeline. I will repeat that I DO believe eventually they will come through and give out what they owe. When they will do so is anyones guess. If they could just be upfront and have everyone on the same page, it would certainly help - they are really not doing anything to help themselves right now.

Do you have any screenshot or email saying the 30 days processing time ?  I'd like to have a copy for my document.  Thanks in advance. 🙏  I just cannot believe Princess is doing this to us, I've got my refunds from United !!!! And, even from a small tour company in Italy (ItalyTours.eu) which I actually had doubt about it.... a big company like Princess.... this is unbelievable!!!!

I will file my dispute when my 60 days is up (5/16/20).... I think that's enough time for them.

  13. My sail date was 4/25/20, I picked option 2 on 3/16/20 and got a receipt email from Princess, I got my  FCC on 4/23/20, but no refund for my paid excursion and on board reservations,  and of course, not a dime for my cruise fares either.   I just do not understand, since they have already gone thru my accounts (me and my hubby) and given us FCCs, why can't they process the refund at the same time?  Are they going to have a different group of people, going through thousands of accounts AGAIN and process cash refund?  I don't understand the rationale behind these🤷‍♀️

I think I will wait till 5/16/20 and maybe try to talk to Chase; this will be another headache for me I am sure. 😡

The way Princess handle our refund is pretty uncool in my book now 😡

  14. Hi guys,

I submitted my choice (#2) on 3/16/20, got my FCC credit (25% of my cruise fare exactly) to my account this afternoon (not there in the morning).... No cash refund back on my credit card side yet.    Crown Princess depart date 4/25/2020...

sigh.... we were supposed to be at Athens at Plaka Hotel rooftop bar now...    Cannot believe this is happening....😪

I think agents are probably going crazy right now.

This is the email address they told me to use: salessupport@allianzassistance.com

I basically sent them the cruise confirmation I had received from Princess (they asked for one that showed cancellation but I didn't have that) and a PDF from the Princess website that the cruises during this time period were "paused". I also included my Policy number.

I don't think it is too late to get a refund. When I first spoke to them, I told them I didn't have a cancellation form from Princess and asked if this was a short time frame and they said no. The info I copied from their website was from today so it is still current.

Worst case scenario - Allianz will transfer the coverage/money to another vacation over the next 2 years or something like that. So that is another option.

    I hope this helps!

    Dear Carol,

I've just called the Allianz and they were extremely nice, and yes, I can still send in refund request and I have done it.   Thank you again for being so resourceful and helpful  😘

It is a policy I purchased for just this trip (Allianz). I purchased this through my travel agent.

    This is on their website:

    PLAN REFUND INFORMATION

Customers may change their plan’s effective dates to cover a new or rescheduled trip.  Alternatively, for a temporary period, we are offering refunds for the cost of your travel protection plan to customers who wish to cancel their travel protection plan if the customer’s travel supplier canceled the customer’s trip due to COVID-19, so long as no payable claim has been filed under the plan.  Please call us at the number listed on your plan and we will be happy to assist you.

    ----------------------------------------

My agent had said she would deal with it. Then told me to contact them. I called them and they gave me an email address to send information about the cancelled cruise. I emailed them the info they wanted. Two weeks later, I received an email saying my request was approved and my refund was issued.

After I told my agent that I had emailed them, she then said Allianz had changed their policy and now the agent had to send it in. I was confused but since I spoke with them and they told me to send the info in, I figured I would wait and see.

At first I thought my email went into a black hole but I did get a refund.

Wow,  Carol, Thanks for the information!!!!  Now I do not know if it is too late for me to call Allianz tomorrow about the refund, my TA did not say a thing about this (we spoke about this when Princess cancelled the cruises) 😡

Who is your TA?  I want to fire mine!!!!!😠

If Princess had the cash available for refunds, they would be paying them. I think it's obvious (and expected) that they don't have the cash.  The real problem is.....  how are they going to get the cash?  Not from resumed operations.  Even if they can resume operations soon (unlikely) they will undoubtedly operate in the red for the foreseeable future.  No, they would have to opt for one or more rather poor options to raise cash.  Sell bonds at extraordinarily high interest rates; issue a stock offering that dilutes existing shareholders and tanks the stock price; sell assets (ships) at very depressed prices; or ???.  Given this, one cannot ignore the possibility that the best option for the company is to pursue bankruptcy.   If they choose bankruptcy, they can either choose to reorganize and continue operations (which would likely screw shareholders, but may protect existing customer's deposits & FCC) or they could choose to liquidate assets and cease operations (which would benefit secured creditors, but pretty much screw everyone else).   The question of IF refunds are paid may be more important then WHEN.

    Hi Guys,

I read it somewhere that Carnival, Inc (parent co of Princess) just raised 6 billions.... so I'd assume they have cash now...
