HI,
My son who will be 17 is an avid cruiser and has found a great cruise on Royal Caribbean in Asia next year. I am more than happy for him to go on this cruise, he is a very sensible kid, he wouldnt misbehave or try to drink etc and I would be happy to sign anything confirming so. Has anyone ever heard of a cruise company agreeing to this? The Royal Caribbean cruise age for Asia is 18.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated, thank you.

Thank you! It looks as though the jade mainly stocks Bacardi as its white rum so I'm guessing they probably used that. I'm attempting to recreate the actual drink he had. Hence my attempt at getting the brands correct. I have triple sec. I'm adding Pepsi rather than Coke as the Jade uses Pepsi.

good old google is telling me that the gin is Tanqueray and the vodka is smirnoff but its not saying which rum it is!?

Hi,
My hubby fell in love with long island iced tea on the Jade this October. Im trying to make him a christmas box with all the ingredients in but I would like to get the brands right for the spirits? Does anybody have a picture of the menu or are on the Jade now and can check for me please? Any help very much appreciated!

11542 and 11544 so just the other side! Perfect!

Brilliant thank you!

Thank you both! Right consider some nail scissors and a nice tea spoon packed! :D
Yes we are October too, 24 October sailing from Venice to Barcelona. We sailed on the Jade last October half term so we are already looking forward to it. The children loved it. Im a bit concerned about the double sofa bed for the kids but not a lot I can do.

Hi,
I have just upgraded myself and my mum to interconnecting mini suites. I was wondering if the balcony can be opened or if it is only an interconnecting door?
Any responses very much appreciated!

Sorry haven't been on for ages!yes we got on the ship (well we checked in), we jumped straight on the Aliguana ferry to piazza San Marco, walked round the square, got the kids an ice cream and headed back to the ship knowing we need to get back to Venice, minus our little cherubs ASAP lol!

Hi,
Probably a daft question but I've never been on a cruise before. I have $100 US dollars from a previous trip and I would like to use it to part pay my on board account. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or does it have to be all paid in the one card transaction?
Thank you!

You guys are a scream! Thanks for the bank loan tip, will get straight on it :o. Sounds like getting on board first is the best bet and then taking the ferry rather than the Vaparetto. Im going to try my best but just accept it if tiredness / time doesnt allow. I wonder if the kids club is open? It would be so much quicker without the kids! :D

Thank you both so much! Sorry I totally forgot to reply, probably a bit soon to be taking the chill pills, maybe I should stop them for a fortnight :D.
What you say does make sense, we will be up at 3am to get to Venice so we will be feeling pretty exhausted by the time we get there.
Thanks for the info re the ferry, interesting that its only 17 mins back! That could make a difference. Im going to get on the ship then try to muster the energy to just go and stand in the piazza and grab an ice cream, but keep an open mind. If we are exhausted we have to face facts and keep Venice for another trip (maybe without the kids ;)). Thank you so much again.
Its funny, since they brought in this fining system headteachers are now just refusing to authorise absences and in a lot of schools its just become "not the done thing". My sons school is certainly one of them. Its good for kids to not miss school and I totally respect that. But this has gone too far now.

Oh good I'm glad you like it! Never even considered cruising before and we only booked this 2 weeks a go for October, so with the kids being young I'm feeling quite out my depth!

Thank you so much everybody. It really is very much appreciated. Unfortunately water routes out of the airport arent possible as we, like the poster above, are flying from Leeds Bradford but we land at Treviso (swore I would never fly Ryanair again but they had by far the best flight times).
There are two buses out of Treviso, Barzi bus stopping at Tronchetto and AVTO bus stopping at Roma. People mover and vaparetto and left luggage at both.
So I guess what I have to do is get to Venice, examine tiredness levels. If we think we can get through it with a little help from gelato use the left luggage facility and get straight up to San Marco. If we are not sure we can make it, check into the ship, maybe eat and consider again based on time / tiredness. Get back off or give up and get in bed then make the most of the sailaway!
Thank you for the Koper tip also I will add it to my notes for that port!
What a kind bunch you all are, thank you :)

That is very true. Just very expensive to go back so seeing it if only briefly whilst there makes so much sense. I guess I have to just try my best and if grouchy kids and maybe even grouchy parents :-) make it impossible then so be it!

I do wonder if when he's an adult he will look back and fully appreciate that when he did the Romans at school his parents not only took him to Rome but Pompeii amongst others, all in a way where he had a kids club and an adventure on his first ever cruise ship! I do hope so!

Ok thank you and thank you for the tip about sail away, much appreciated. I'm going with the majority then and board the ship first. I guess if I give myself a cut off of say 1pm for getting back off the boat I can make it. I've looked into the possibility of flooding and it looks fairly low that day.

Thank you both! I looked at google maps for the taxi route and it didn't make sense! So we reckon even with checking in first I'd still have time to get back off, take the 40 minute Vaparetto ride each way see the piazza and make the ship?

Brilliant thank you! So when I board I xcan check out whats available and then if theres nothing for my daughter I can refuse to get her the package and just sort my son out? It makes you buy one for everyone on the website. Thats lots better!

Hi,
Not sure what to do here! I was going to book the soda package as we have an 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. But my daughter doesnt drink "fizzy" drinks. She will have cordial etc but nothing with fizz. My son does drink fizzy drinks and my husband and i will if we need to. Its obviously worth it for my son, but if its useless for my daughter I dont know what to do? Because i cant buy it just for my son it has to be for us all so Im not sure?
Are there any free drinks served at lunch and dinner that the kids could have?
Thank you!

Unfortunately here in the UK the government have brought in a fining system for taking kids out of school. I agree totally he will learn more during a day in Venice than in his classroom (the reason for this entire trip is he is studying the Romans :)). But that one day would be a £120 fine and I refuse on principle to be subjected to it haha! Flights are already booked now so not a lot I can do.
I appreciate all your advice, Ive never been on a cruise ship before and I really dont know what to expect. My biggest fear is the charges on board. Everything seems to mean more money, tips, drinks etc.
I will use tripadvisors Venice forum. Im sure someone there can tell me the quickest way. Ive just discovered I could get off the airport bus at Mestre and its a short taxi ride from there to Piazza San Marco, that would buy us a full hour if its true. :)
17 year old cruising without parents?

Thanks, yes I am afraid not and the person he would be travelling with would also be 17 so I cannot use that one anyway 😄 thank you for the reply though, its appreciated. I couldnt get through to RCCL to ask, I will try calling them again. Maybe someone will have experience of something like this.
