  1. Hi

We are doing a 21 day cruise in which there will only be 8 sea days and 2 overnight calls. For our own reasons we don't want to spend much time off the ship on port days. What types of activities will be available on board on those days?  Do they cater for people like us who see the ship as the destination as much as any port or will there not be much to do?

How many formal nights might we expect on such an itinerary?

Also, can anybody advise what happens on board for Christmas and New Year's Eve?

    Thank you.

  2. Yes this is the message I get when trying to book the spa. Booked excursions but haven't managed anything else. I don't have an email but you will probably find it on their website under contact us.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Thanks for that. Interesting to know it's not just my booking.

Alas, no email address, only a phone number provided in the 'Contact Us' section of the web site.

  3. For some weeks we have been trying to use Voyage Personaliser to reserve a table at The Verandah for various nights during our February cruise, but keep getting the following message on screen:

"As you have crossed the International Date Line this date has been lost from the cruise calendar."

I am wondering if this is a problem encountered by others? Voyage Personaliser has allowed us to book shore excursions without difficulty.

I have searched for, but cannot find, an email address for Cunard so I can query the issue. I would prefer to email rather than use their call centre. Can anyone provide a customer service email address for Cunard?

Thanks for any insights others might have.

  4. Out of interest I wanted to know what you guys in the US are paying for cunard cruises.

The pre-xmas transatlantic is now £499 ($781) for an inside with a flight back for uk passengers. I understand that US passengers pay a lot less

I'm not intending for this thread to be an exercise to rub it in, but to be more informed.

Thought I'd offer an Australian perspective…

    1 Australian Dollar = (approx.) 86 US Cents & 55 British Pence.

15 December trans-Atlantic currently advertised on Cunard's Australian web site as cruise only fare from:

    $AU1,329 per person Inside

    $AU1,709 p.p. Ocean View

    $AU1,769 p.p. Balcony

    $AU2,559 p.p. Club Balcony

    $AU3,989 p.p. Princess

    $AU5,319 p.p. Queens

Could be cheaper from travel agencies but still seems like a whole lot more than in the USA or UK.

  5. Before leaving the topic of formal nights, subject to an earlier thread begun by me:

Cunard's FAQs encourage the wearing of military (and other) decorations on formal nights by those who've been awarded them.

I'm wondering how common it actually is for people to do so?

I'm used to wearing my medals on ceremonial occasions or in the confines of formal nights within the military but have never worn my decorations in such a setting as a cruise ship. Do others who've sailed regularly with Cunard have any insights as to how many people wear medals on formal nights and how that is perceived by other passengers? I just want to dress appropriately for the setting with the right amount of formality.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  6. The black and white theme applies to both in our experience although just a few ladies

turn up in colourful dresses probably because of the difficulty of finding the guidance on Cunard's website !

Reassuring to know it's not just me finding it difficult to obtain the right guidance, alanrow. We have a Cunard Ball at one end of our 22 night world cruise sector and a Black & White Ball at the other end.

  7. Cunard's own website doesn't help much. When typing in "what will the dress code be on board", it offers various suggestions and then up pops another question "do you have theme nights on board".

The answer regarding the Cunard ball appears to be the same as the Black/White ball which isn't really the case, so not really sure what it should be. This is exactly the same answer as appears to be in your link from 2013, so nothing has really changed and it doesn't tell you a lot.

Thanks for your insights Lynnewob. I'm pleased someone else is a little confused as well as me!

  8. Hi

There will be a "Cunard Ball" while we are cruising on board Queen Elizabeth.

The link - http://www.cunard.com/documents/attire.pdf - contains suggested attire for a wide range of balls but does not say exactly what the "Cunard Ball" is, or provide any suggestions for the type of formal dress to be worn.

Grateful for any guidance from anyone who has attended a "Cunard Ball".

    Thanks.

**********Er, upon closer reading I've noticed the "Cunard Ball" bundled under the same heading as the "Black & White Ball". The guide implies black and white accessories for both then? What might be the main differences between the themes of the two balls? ***************

  9. Hi there,

First post on Cruise Critic forum and first cruise booked next year on Queen Elizabeth.

Could somebody please tell me what the cost is of getting laundry done on board, say for a pair of trousers and a shirt? Not interested in using the self-service laundry.

Also what is the likely charge and turnaround time for having a suit dry cleaned?

    Thanks...
