  1. We've been to Costa Maya once before but can't remember doing anything fun or finding a good place to eat and people watch.  Anybody have any suggestions?  15 days to sailing.  Can't wait!!  Husband has been packed for 6 months.

We have booked an excursion to Misty Fjords (sea plane and boat).  It's about a 3.5 hour tour.

Thanks!  Not sure if can talk hubby into small plane ride...but it sounds awesome!  Have fun!

  3. Any advantage to using the PVP for Diamond members?

My PVP I've been using starting to take me for granted and

from talking to other people their PVP or travel agent does more

    and get s them more.

    Thanks

Almost Diamond... My husband usually does the booking for our cruises so I'm confused what is a PVP? Is this someone you are assigned when you become a diamond member to help you book cruises?

  4. Depends on where you want to go and what you like to do. I'm partial to Carnival since we are two cruise away from Diamond. My favorite place and cruise was to Hawaii on the Legend. I loved it! Other than that I can give you some ideas on places to go and things to do in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Haven't been on Carnival Vista but are booked to do it in January. At present it is listed as the second best ship of the top ten. Happy Crusing!

  5. St. Thomas is a beautiful place to visit. My husband and I like stopping at this cute open bar off Palm. It is situated between the buildings and the sign above the entrance says "Palm or Palm Passage". The open bar is concrete oval shaped. But the bartender is so much fun and you can even order appetizers. Ask for his special drink and if hungry ask for what is good to eat. It is a safe place to walk and shop in the cute local stores. As for jewelry, there are many of them and expensive. We always shop in Diamonds International. Ask your shopping director from the ship. They will give you a map telling you the best places to shop. And as always remember you are not in the states, so it is okay to bargain for lower prices.

  6. Everyone has been giving you correct information about the lobster. However, if you go to the steak house, the cost is a little extra ($35 pp), but the first night offers free wine, and the "surf and turf" meal has the lobster with steak. It is truly awesome. The lobster is sweet, plump, and totally different from the one during the formal night. And, don't forget to go and eat in the Italian restaurant. The cost is $15 pp at night, but you get a four course meal and way too much to eat. Bring a friend and share the dishes. That way you get more selections. The cheesecake is mouth watering and huge. Also, try the lasagna at lunch... it is free then and made with huge pieces of short ribs. Another great meal. Now, I'm hungry. Can't wait for the 26th to arrive.

  7. Not really a secret. Use the Lanai hot tubs. Do not go up to the Lido hot tubs. Many times the Lanai hot tubs are not crowded! Also, the first day when you get on the ship go to Cucina del Capitano for lunch, many people do not know about it on the first day. It is free for lunch and it will get crowded at the end of the cruise.

Totally agree about doing this for lunch. It's free every day. A great hidden secret. Try the lasagna for lunch--made with huge amounts of great roast pieces. Don't believe they serve this at night. But for $15 per person definitely try the night meal. You have to make reservations, but so good--- and so much food. Just fabulous and romantic! Can't wait until November lst.:)

  8. You can bring packaged food off but no fruits or veggies. I have never had a problem bringing food back on board nut most of the time it is packaged anyway.

Yes, you can bring food back on the ship (Carnival). My husband loves trying different local cuisine and we have brought back bar-b-que, etc back on the ship. Correct about no fruit and veggies being taken off. Also, no candles of any type are allowed on the ships. Stores from ports use to give them free with purchases.

A few things I add to our day backpack for excursions is hand cleaner (1.5 oz), suntan lotion (3 oz- Walmart), plastic water bottle filled from ship water dispenser, and a roll up hat (can buy on ship for $10- looks like small umbrella when rolled up). Husband wears caps.

BTW - disabled vets get free parking at airports!
