  1. Of course you get the same as everyone else in YC. Pre pay tipping is the easiest and then tip extra IF needed. Don't over complicate it. Enjoy your cruise.

The Butler does a lot, you just don't see him/her or the room stewards, that's there job really, when your out of your room they go in and do their stuff. I don't want them in my face but if I need them I'll call ANY butler and ask for whatever I need/want and it is done.

  2. Unfortunately...the secret about the Yacht Club cabins is out.....;p

That is the absolute best price for all inclusive luxury cruising at sea.

It is now getting very hard to find these cabins available. We used to be able to always get get a YC2 or YC3.

A few months ago, I felt fortunate to get the last YC1 on a February 2018 Seaside cruise. I Know that is a new ship but still....

If can can possibly do the Yacht Club on any ship, take it.

I am sure these cabin prices will sky rocket in the near future. They have been slowly inching up !

Yes the secret is out. YC will be the game changer for the US cruise market.

    Simply the best. [emoji4]

  3. Great info, thanks. I'm happy to know that we can go straight to the cruise terminal in Naples, after checking out from our B&B. Also good to know we can have a leisurely morning on the last day.

Yes we had the same. Checked out of Sorrento B&B and took the ferry across to Naples. Walked 50meters off the ferry and we were standing there looking at this beautiful Meraviglia. Absolutely mesmerising.

  4. Hi. We got to the terminal early 11.30am. The Meraviglia just arrived at 11 am so could not board yet. There is a white tent at the drop off area outside on the ground level, leave your bags with YC (not self bag drop area) and they will take care of it while you head up to check in on the 1st level.

When we arrived at the check in area it was too early as the process hadn't started yet. They took us aside to some tables and chairs reserved for YC guests. They provided drinks while we waited and spoke to us welcoming us to the ship. Once the check in process could be started at approx 1pm they checked our paperwork and passports, once that was done (2 min) we could be escorted to the ship by the butler and up to the YC concierge.

Concierge then welcomed us aboard and has our cruise cards and arm bands ready, a quick explanation of the YC areas etc. We then started our YC experience [emoji3].

At Naples you don't have to vacate your room until 10am. Your bags will have provided tags the night before and must be outside your door by 2am.

We stayed on the ship until approximately 12.30 pm, then was escorted with our carry on to collect our waiting luggage. It's where we say goodbye to our butler and head back to reality ☹️

Process was quick and efficient, no stress.

  5. And a couple more while I think about it.

Today is a sea day travelling from Malta to Barcelona. First time I have ever seen on msc yacht club, is every sun bed occupied and guests looking around hunting for somewhere to rest. I did a quick count of sunbeds, there are 90.

Also three cabanas on the starboard side, two reserved for the royal suite guests, and one normally being used for massages. I did notice today that a couple of 'special' guests were using the spa cabana.

Bar service on deck today very very patchy.

    Another thing - no library.

No YC library but a "everyone" library opp the champagne bar.

Bar service is very patchy. Agreed. I had to reprimand a server once for taking my order and glass from my now empty drink and didn't see him for 15 min. Have given him the benefit of the doubt but when questioned......totally forgot about me. No happy!

Very apologetic but clearly he was under the pump as he was the ONLY one serving drinks to loungers.

    Needs work.

Sea day needs two behind the bar and 3 servers minimum.

Was told by the champagne bar staff that the electronic tablets they use for a 8 -12 hour shift only has a battery life of 3-4 hours! Bad planning. No backup battery packs or tablets, put them on charge and then go the old paper version. Crazy [emoji12]

  6. Hope you don't mind some of my thoughts from last week while on board. Totally agree with the need for tables next to the sun loungers.

Also I found it odd that there was nowhere to put your towels when your done on the pool deck. A large basket of something so people can deposit them and free up the loungers, we found that because of this oversight people left them on the loungers and they looked like it was still being used, it also looked untidy. You had to ask the pool boys for extra towels and they weren't always around.

The pool grill, breakfast, food area needed a retractable awning on hot sunny days, the food was drying out very quickly and there was no reason for it. Sun and heat do not mix well with fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches etc. Also there were no signs whatsoever to tell you what was underneath the lids of soups, hot breakfast items, anything at all, you had to lift the hot large lids to look, and if you did wanted to take something there was no place really to rest it while choosing. Very weird.

No litter bids at all on deck, I like to clean up my mess, like the empty water bottles, paper straw wrappers, sugar/butter/jam packets, chip packets etc. They all floated around in the wind when not contained, why no litter bins? (Trash cans).

What I did notice also was the cheaper finishing of furniture in the lounge, and restaurant. It was 3 weeks old and there is no way those Lounge chairs and sofas in the lounge are going to withstand the use for another 12 months max, already chipped and the velour covered chairs where already stretched and looking worn, it will be a problem I can assure you. And really.......plastic green ferns that have had a silver spray can applied to them looks cheap in the "planter boxes", it's just bad. Have a look next time , real succulents could look much better and are very hardy.

I'm really going off here lol [emoji23]

The pool is salt water....and I mean VERY salty. The whirlpool is chlorinated. Why can't they fill both with chlorine? Or water the salt down a bit, I live on the beach and this pool is the saltiest I've ever encountered.

The safe comment is totally true, bad position.

We had pre booked a 20 piece laundry package. I would have thought you could get it?

Another couple I spoke to on deck 18 had the same problem with steam and smoke detector going off. That is a problem.

Newspaper printing was problematic, hopefully it gets sorted.

We had a great time believe me it's just a few things that I thought didn't sit well with us. The Meraviglia YC is completely different to Divina YC that's for sure.

We will be back and hope things get fine tuned for future cruises.

    My 2 cents.

    Cheers

  7. Ok. Let me explain again.

    1. you have a choice of the free band if you want. It's completely optional in YC or anywhere else, you can pay for a band in the "other" areas when you board (€6 I think?)

    2. Everyone gets a cruise card because you need it to exit and enter the ship. Don't know why but hey it's the current system, I'm sure it will evolve. (see below for my opinion as to why)

    3. The band work everything when on the ship (even the cabin doors, YC entry and priority lifts), except the gaming machines (for points and cabin credit)

    4. The MSC for me app works well in my opinion and it will only get better when a few bugs get sorted. You only have to connect to the ships Wi Fi (no cost) plus Bluetooth enabled and it's works perfectly. It is the same in the room, the TV has all your info as normal.

    5. I can see why the band Isn't used for exiting and boarding the ship as you would have to supply at least 10-15 people outside of the ship with scanners AT EACH PORT (that show photos and information) just to make sure you are who you are for security, going in the right direction, going on a excursion, finding the port bus, we had two MSC ships at dock today so a quick look at the card can let the MSC helpers and port staff/security know where you need to go once inside the port terminal (god knows why with all the signs in the world) and MSC Orchestra people wanting to come down our gangway and I'm sure vice versa for Meraviglia people, some people are plain dumb, simple as that.

  8. You can use the card as normal around the ship. The bracelet does exactly the same thing without carrying the card around, no lanyard.

Like I said the cruise card is only needed (if you choose to use the bracelet) when leaving the ship and to get back on. The other exception is using the gaming machines in the casino. You need the card for points as well as charging credit to your room. The machines also take cash.

Speaking of lanyards. 95% of the ship doesn't use a lanyard. I've hardly seen any. Bracelets for the kids are a good idea (tracking) to find where they are on the ship through the app.

  9. Thanks for the video! Looks nice enough. I have an interior Yacht Club on the SEASIDE in January. According to MSC it should be a bit larger, but you really can't go by anything MSC prints. It's usually wrong. Anyway it's a great value to get all the amenities of the Yacht Club and that is my primary objective.

I have two questions. I notice your cruise card doesn't say anything special about being in the Yacht Club. I'm surprised. I thought the Yacht Club might have completely different cards. Also, I'm surprised you have a card at all. I thought on the MERAVIGLIA they had the new "MSC for Me" technical platform, and they were using smart wristbands? Were you offered those or did you have the option? Just curious as SEASIDE is supposed to have them as well.

Yes the card is as shown. You also get the card as well as the bracelet. It works the same as the cruise card. You ONLY need your cruise card for getting off and back on the ship. 3b41232ab9d6b0dd6eb588c5e32d65a9.jpg03ae9175aacebe3abbbd7595e1e65c60.jpg

  10. No debates please just sharing the information. Deck 18 Sky Lounge has a small room for Cigar/Smoking. It has seating for approximately 16 people and plenty of standing room if needed. It comprises of a large double door humidor for Cigar purchases. There is also a fake fire place with a marble surround ect.

Nice spot to enjoy a smoke out of the daytime heat or after dark away from the wind.

While no "Bar" in the room it is served by staff every 5 min or so to take drink orders or pop out to the Sky Lounge Bar and get one if needed quicker. Great views from the full floor to ceiling angled glass overlooking the deck below.

Anyway, I've just lit up a 1 hour Macanudo, placed an order for a large beer and plan to enjoy this in total privacy (at the moment [emoji6]), just the afternoon I needed after a big day in Marseille.

    Ciao

  11. Indeed, the drawing looks good. We booked for next March, but I do know that drawing are only conceptual until they are replaced by real photos. While I am optimistic, I did note that the Meraviglia YC interior drawings still show two chairs in the room and that was not the OP's reality.

I'll cope, no matter what. I'm steps away from the bar and what looks like a forward outdoor deck. I will survive.:D

Spot on JAGR. It's hard not to look. What a restaurant view! [emoji4] bb2c15233d79fe70da4fcfd52afc032b.jpg

  12. I can confirm that there is a Nespresso Machine in the YC cabins:)

Today er are in Malta an in 35 minutes we set sail for Barcelona :)Welcome onboard Bea:) MSC MERAVIGLIA awaits you:)

I've used them for the last two mornings and they pull a decent brew. Needed to get a small jug of milk for the fridge as I like a little in a double espresso. Gets me going before I head to breakfast [emoji4]

  13. The Swedish version of their brochure has the information that all YC suites has marble bathroom.

As I said I don't care about it but the information is there so someone might be disappointed about it.

Someone might be disappointed that there is only one whirlpools too.

Agreed the info is not up to date. They really need to now do real time photos of ALL cabins to show the layout of each type, from Bella through to YC Royal Suits. MSC. If your reading this, do it!

Yeah right they'll listen to me. Lol.

Cheers from the YC sundeck and bar (that's what they call it now) [emoji849]dbad1b540587485057d1faa8e19bc5e0.jpg

PS. Bea, come say hi. I don't know who you are. Cheers [emoji482]

Thanks in advance and have an amazing cruise -

    kr

    Sandra
