Just received a new message from Celebrity -
Dear Guest,
We look forward to welcoming you aboard for your upcoming Celebrity Cruises vacation. Before you embark on this exciting journey, we would like to provide some important information regarding your travel plans.
As we monitor global developments related to the coronavirus, our priority remains the health and safety of our guests and crew, as well as providing you an amazing vacation experience. To comply with guidance from CDC, WHO, public health authorities around the world, and the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), we are enhancing our temporary travel restrictions, as well as global boarding and screening measures, to protect our guests and crew. These safety precautions will remain in place for a projected period of 30 days and will be reviewed daily.
Today, it is apparent that COVID-19 presents the most serious health risks to older individuals, the immunocompromised, and those with serious, underlying medical conditions. Therefore, effective Monday, March 16th, boarding will be denied to any person age 70 or older, at the time of embarkation, unless the guest provides written verification from a qualified treating physician that certifies the person has no severe, chronic medical condition and is fit to travel. You may utilize the fit to travel letter on the Travel Advisory page of our website for presentation to your physician. https://www.celebritycruises.com/travel-alert
Boarding will be denied to any person with a severe, chronic medical condition, including those specified by the CDC. Guests of all ages will be screened prior to boarding, regarding underlying health issues that may prevent them from sailing.
Additionally, mandatory, temperature screenings using digital, non-touch scanners will be conducted with guests, crewmembers, and visitors on embarkation day prior to boarding any vessel. If temperature registers about 100.4°F (38°C), the person and his/her travel companions will be referred to a secondary health screening. Secondary health screenings will be performed by medical professionals who will check for flu-like symptoms and pulse oximetry readings.
Until further notice for all Caribbean voyages, any person, regardless of nationality, who has travelled from, visited or transited via airports through mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Europe (not including the United Kingdom,) Iran, Japan, Singapore, South Korea or Taiwan, 21 days prior to embarkation, will be unable to board our ships. This includes coming in to contact with people who have travelled from, visited or transited via airports through these same countries. The CDC characterizes contact with an individual as coming within six feet (2M) of a person. A full list of restricted European countries may be found at the following link https://presscenter.rclcorporate.com/press-release/80/schengen-area-countries/
As a result, it is imperative that you review your air travel itinerary closely to ensure you do not transit through any gateway in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Europe, Iran, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, or Taiwan. Guests who have air travel booked through Flights by Celebrity will be re-accommodated on alternate routes and receive new flight information automatically. Guests with independent air travel arrangements need to contact their air carriers directly to make all required adjustments and changes to their air travel.
Boarding will also be denied for any person who within 21 days prior to embarkation, has had contact with, or helped care for, anyone suspected or diagnosed as having COVID-19, or who are currently subject to health monitoring for possible exposure to COVID-19.
We have also increased secondary health screening requirements. The following guests will need to undergo extra screenings at the cruise terminal:
- Any person who reports feeling unwell or displays flu-like symptoms.
-
Any person who has traveled to, from, or through Thailand in the 21 days prior to embarkation
-
Any person who is uncertain about contact with individuals who have traveled in the 21 days prior to embarkation to, from, or through mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Europe, Iran, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, or Thailand.
In some cases, guests presenting certain symptoms in the specialized health screenings may be denied boarding. All guests who are denied boarding due to these restrictions will receive full refunds in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. Additional restrictions may be imposed based on local circumstances. For example, certain countries may deny visas or prohibit entry based on travel history or nationality.
We have rigorous medical protocols in place to help passengers and crew members who feel unwell while sailing. Our protocols include:
- Professional medical treatment
-
Isolation of unwell individuals from the general ship population
-
Intensified ship cleaning, air filtration, and sanitization procedures
We are assessing developments constantly and will update these measures as needed.
Finally, you can contribute to a healthy onboard environment by taking a few simple steps that will help prevent colds, flus and stomach viruses – both onboard and on land.
- Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds after using the restroom and before any meal or snack.
-
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue (or with your upper sleeve) if you happen to sneeze. Avoid sneezing or coughing into your hands or without covering your nose and mouth.
-
Use hand sanitizer as often as possible. Rub the gel thoroughly, and in-between your fingers, until your hands are dry.
If you don’t feel well while onboard, it’s imperative that you visit our onboard medical facility immediately for a complimentary checkup. Our onboard doctors and nurses are always available and ready to assist.
If you or someone in your stateroom has traveled to, from, or through, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Europe, Iran, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, or Taiwan, please contact your Travel Advisor immediately or contact us at 1-844-418-6824 in North America or (316) 554-5961 worldwide. You can also visit www.celebritycruises.com/contact-us for a complete list of global contact information.
We have elected to take these precautionary steps due to the recent increase in coronavirus cases around the world, to help avoid the spread of the virus and to ensure the continued safety of our guests and crew. While vacations are our passion, our primary responsibility is to maintain a safe and healthy environment onboard our ships, as well as in the ports we visit. We look forward to welcoming you aboard for a truly incredible vacation.
Sincerely,Celebrity Cruises

Is anyone that canceled this week continuing to receive boarding emails?
Yes we are too.

We’re looking forward to sailing on the Silhouette in a few weeks. Does anyone know who will be the cruise director? Thank you in advance.
-
Oh my oh my!!! I just found your blog and it is awesome. Thank you!

In 20 cruises we used a TA for the very first time. Will the OBC magically appear on our account once We board the ship?
-
Thanks. I was hoping it was by the balcony.

Unfortunately it’s only a C1. We usually book Aqua Class, but I was wanting an aft cabin so we’re booking this C1 and using our OBC for specialty restaurants.
-
Does anyone know where the bed is located for aft cabin 2154? I have searched the cabin spreadsheet already but there isn’t an entry. Thanks in advance.

We recently stayed at the Hive. Brand new with excellent accommodations. Within walking distance to transportation, great restaurants and high end shopping. We did an afternoon of hop on hop off Type of tour. Skip the line tour for the Vatican museum and Scavi tours for Vatican if interested.
-
We were in Aqua class for a June sailing. All new carpet, bedding, drapery... loved it! Also, besides what everyone else has mentioned, there was some new deck furniture. Big lounges for couples and a few sofa like chairs.
-
YAY! We love reading your blogs. I’m quite interested in the weather from Canada to Japan. Keep us informed on those Glorious sea days.

We used to routinely book Aqua Class and it was fine. Then we started to realize that the quality of the food in Blu was not nearly as good as in some of the alternative restaurants or even the MDR, but we still booked Aqua and would sometimes order from the "secret" Blu menu of certain MDR items. Then they took away the free bottled water in Aqua and we also got tired of having to deal with the lousy location of Aqua Cabins (many are directly under the pool deck with that ugly overhang). So we started booking lower priced regular balcony cabins (which we sometimes got upgraded to Concierge for free) which were in better locations then the more expensive Aqua. The money we saved by not booking Aqua bought us dining packages so that we could have most of our meals in Murano, Qsine or the Lawn. But then they increased the prices in the alternative restaurants. So on our most recent cruise we booked the lowest price balcony cabin (which was fine) and ate in the MDR (which seemed to have a better menu then Blu). But now, we have no more bookings on Celebrity although we do have 6 cruises (over 100 days) booked for the next year. We get the message :(.
One irony about the price increases in alternate restaurants. Our most recent cruise was on the Summit where there is no Murano. But that ship still has the old Qsine format (which will soon change) so we did inquire about having a meal in Qsine. We told the Maitre'd we would love to dine in Qsine (which seemed to be near empty on most nights) if we could get a 2 for 1 deal (half price). We were offered 30% off (we would get 15% off just because we are Elite Plus) but rejected the offer telling the Maitre'd we would only be interested at 2 for 1. He said he could not give us that deal and we thanked him for his time. A few days before the end of our 10 day cruise we ran into the Maitre'd and he quickly offered us 2 for 1 in Qsine for the last night of the cruise. We accepted the deal, the food was very good, and the restaurant was near empty with only 3 other tables. We talked to the table next to us and they had also been lured by the half price deal and, like us, said there was no way they would dine at the venue for anything near the full price.

May I ask what cruise line you are sailing for your 100 days?

Celebrity responded to my inquiry:
“Hi Mari, sorry for the delay in responding. We have gotten confirmation that the ship is going to Cadiz for the renovations because of the damages to the Grand Bahama dry dock. If you send us your booking number along with your email and tel, we will send updates as we receive them.”
Keep us informed if you will! Thank you Mari

Yes my thoughts as well. We are on the June 8th sailing. I am going to wait and see but I’m prepping for a cancellation.

If I have paid for upgrade to premium drink pkg and my move up bid from Aqua to Suite is accepted, do I lose what I paid to upgrade drinks? I am assuming that premium package is an auto perk for suites.
Thanks and if this has been fully answered already thanks for your patience.

As we are half way through the cruise I figure I should give a mini cruise update.
Cabin 10107 Sky Suite - Storage is excellent. I live the bed facing the window. The mattress is firm. Very firm. Personally I love that but I realize it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
The temperature only goes down to 66. It doesn’t really feel like 66, feels like it should be a bit colder but it’s not uncomfortable by any means. I just prefer ice cold when I sleep. Even in cold Chicago our A/C turns on at night to keep it around 63 so I’m an anomaly with regard to that.
Cleanliness of Cabin. Ship is brand new so obviously the room is clean. The shower provides some cleaning challenges. There is a soap dish of sorts that is fixed to the tub. It fills up with water with no where to drain. Cabin attendant always has it dry after cleaning but is just a design flaw. Also the shower current material is starting to discolor already at the base. I suspect they’ll be changing these out a lot.
I love the separate door for the toilet in the bathroom. The long vanity is beautiful.
I hate how the mirror fogs up so quickly. Really wish they had fog free mirrors or better ventilation. There is also no place to hang your towel within easy reach of the shower. Though the bathroom isn’t all that big so it’s not like you’re running across a room for a towel, it is noticeable.
I love the vanity area. While I’m not putting on make up haha, it makes for a great space to place my watch, clothes, etc as I’m getting ready.
The storage on both sides of the sink is wonderful. Products are easily displayed so you know where everything is and the shelf heights are perfect for bathroom products.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkWill you please share a video of your room? Happy birthday!

In Bonaire we rented golf carts and drove around the island. Go to trip advisor and search for Bonaire Cruisers Golf Cart rental. I want to say it was $99 for the entire day. They give you a map to follow with sightseeing places marked. Flamingos, salt mines etc. BEST excursion in many years. We will definitely be doing it again.

Thank you all for taking time to respond. I have checked out the videos and the Yacht Club is exactly what I am looking for. We cruise in the Aqua class on X for the use of the Persian Garden and Blu. The Yacht club offers the smaller dining venue. We also love sitting by the pool for a few hours each day and then reading on the balcony. And yes, I enjoy of week of being pampered!
Enjoy your adventures! Appreciate input.

We are avid cruisers who love Celebrity S class ships. I have recently been reading where Celebrity cruisers are moving to MSC. What do you love about MSC?

As well as Blu Manager please!

Would someone be able to let me know if Anitsa will be the Blu Manager for the June 8th sailing? Thanks!

Apologies if this topic is “redundant” but I’ve been off the board for quite awhile. We finally booked our first post 2020 cruise.
What level of drink package is included in the all inclusive reservation ?
