  1. So I started uploading all the requested information via the app and I have had nothing but issues.  Some how my crown and anchor got assigned to my husband.  I called to try and figure out why it wouldn’t take my account number bad the rep said “oh that’s because it’s Christopher number”

umm no those sailings are all mine he’s never been on a Royal Caribbean ship.  He couldn’t help me and said I had to call back to see if crown and anchor reps cans fix it.  I would love to know how that happened.  When I log into crown and anchor with my account number it’s all my information.

Then I entered the credit card we want to use for room charges I enter all the information including the expiration date of 12/24. I review all the information, save it and then once saved it changes the expiration date to 12/25.

I’m assuming they check all this again when we get to the pier on boarding day but I feel like I wasted my night entering everything.

My set sail pass currently shows no loyalty program but my husband has platinum on his lol. I know someone said after sailing it might update to give him the same status as me but I didn’t think it would take mine and give it to him 😂

The representative on the phone said the app is known to have glitches, is this common?

You can open it on the APP and just pick the time you want to fill in the rest later. You have 45 days. Once it opens it's really quite user friendly (as far a picking the time or what ever you want to upload).  You will eventually need: the passports, vaxx cards, credit card, a phone photo to finish the check in. I'm not sure about other linked reservations. Also, you have to wait for them to approve your vaxx card. We're still waiting and I've read some take a few weeks.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you.   Our check in day is  Wednesday morning

  3. what items are needed to check in.  I will be checking in for myself, husband and two kids. we are linked with another reservation can I check everyone in, or just my reservation.  Do I need credit card/vaccination cards etc?  I saw some people say they skipped over most things and just picked a time how do you skip past that information?

They will provide you with a sharps container.  You can request the distilled water and extension cord from your room steward once on board.  Just notify special needs department of all of your needs before you sail.  They have a form you can fill out.  The medicine probably won't stay cool enough in their mini-fridge, but you can get ice from the room steward and keep it cool that way.

    Happy sailing!

Thank you for the quick response.  I will have to do that with the special needs department.  The medicine always stayed well in the mini fridge at Disney, but I kept it in its insulated pouch as well while in the fridge

  5. I am currently on a weekly medicine for my RA and the injection medicine needs to be refrigerated. It is pen style and I have a travel bag for it that comes with a freezer pack.  When I fly I have no issues I just let them know that I have it and that it has to remain cold and I bring it in my carry on, I would assume the ship is the same but figured I would check.  If my memory serves me right, the rooms have a mini fridge that I can put the medicine in, or does that need to be requested.   Also is there a sharps container somewhere on board where I can dispose of the injection pen?

We will be on Oasis of the seas in July and my husband will have his C-Pap machine as well.  Form what I have read the plugs are limited especially when you factor in charging phones, tablets and plugging in the C-pap.  Can we bring our own extension cord/extra plugs or can we only request it from the cabin steward, can we still request the distilled water?

That’s why you bring your own water bottle. Or a yeti container.
I use a yeti and fill it with ice . And bring extra water with me in the back pack.
yeti fits in my side pocket of the backpack.
And I had cans in the explorer out of PR in feb.

Is there any place on the ship to fill a bottle like this? I am drinking mostly water these days.  A bottle fill station or some soda machines have a water button.

Has anyone gotten results from Labcorp with the clia # not in the report? What did you do?

I wonder about this too.  Even my results from my state testing labs, both rapid and PCR never had a lab CLIA number so I'm confused by this.   We are sailing out of Cape Liberty, has anyone recently boarded a cruise from this terminal without this information on their results?  Royals website states that the lab information needs to be on it but I have yet to have any tests showing this information.  Especially when it is a rapid because it is not processed through a lab.

I am hoping someone can answer that question !!  I am really not sure!  Remember during the summer months, Adventure of the Seas and Celebrity Summit also sail out of Cape Liberty.  Adventure will be in town on 5/12 and Summit is here on 5/2!

I hadnt even thought about it but now I have to wonder.  Our cruise is July 29th, which is a Friday so if the other ships are on a Saturday rotation will there be anything left?  I wonder is it 1st come 1st served?

Got to the port, dropped off the luggage, saw the crowd, parking garage full,

I’m at the Costco food court having a $1.50 hot dog.

    it’s going to be a while….

still working on overcoming the disappointment of Aqua80.

Reading this makes me wonder does the garage ever get full to the point they turn people away?  I just want to know if I have to have a backup plan.

  10. This will be mine and my husbands first time cruising with the kids.  My son will be 8 and my daughter 12. We are traveling with my sons friends family so I’m sure they will be together most of the time. My daughter makes friends very easily and I suspect she will have a new bestie quickly. I am just hoping for some insight into the kids club. Both of my kids are used to going to summer camps and such so I think they’ll both like going to club.  Obviously I don’t think they’ll be there all the time though.  How did you work it when you wanted to see a show at night with your spouse?  Any suggestions, tips, hints would be greatly appreciated.  I’m looking forward to hopefully having some time with my husband on a vacation. It’s been a long time.

Here's what I recommend. There are two Marriott properties, a Courtyard and a Residence Inn that are part of a cluster of hotels on International Blvd. in Elizabeth.  They are adjacent to The Mills at Jersey Gardens outlet mall, which has two chain restaurants on its property near the hotels, a Ruby Tuesday and an IHOP. Given the age of the children those hotels and restaurants may be very appropriate.

To get to either hotel take the Amtrak train  to the Newark Airport station. Then transfer to the Newark Airport AirTrain and take it to the first stop, P4, which is the pick up point for hotel courtesy shuttles. Note: call the hotel before you make your trip to ensure that they are picking up at P4 and to ask if they have a courtesy phone there or if you have to call them from your own phone to make the pick up.

You'll have to make some arrangement for transportation from your hotel to the cruise port. With 9 people you may need to get a van or a couple of UBER XLs or Uber Black SUVs,  or perhaps get a van through a car service such as Carmel Limo.

For the return trip you should board your Amtrak train at Newark Penn Station because the Newark Airport station is not accessible to ground transportation as it only serves as a connection point for the AirTrain that takes passengers to and from the airport. Obviously you'll also need transportation from the cruise terminal to the train station for the return trip. Alternatively I guess you could buy transfers from the cruise line to Newark Airport and then take the AirTrain to the Newark Airport station and board your Amtrak train there rather than Newark Penn Station.

Regardless of how you slice this you're going to be laying out a significant amount for ground transportation to and from the cruise terminal.

Perhaps you might want to drive instead of taking the train.

Thanks. This is basically what I had interpreted. I said to my husband last night the convenience of having the car might be worth it in the end.  I really appreciate your response. Thank you.

  13. Hi All,

I have been trying to do some research and I am a little clueless when it comes to trains and such.  We are coming form RI and thinking about taking the train from RI to either Newark Penn Station or Newark airport.   We want to arrive the day before and stay at a hotel but not sure which location would be better.   It will be two families.  One with 2 kids 8 & 12 the other with 3 kids 8, 5, 2.   I have read the area around Newark Penn Station isnt the greatest.  Does anyone have any first hand experience of what it is like to arrive into the train station at the airport.  How does one then get to the area for hotel shuttles.  Is it walking, another train/tram etc.

If you were in the same scenario would you choose to stay near the airport or go closer to the terminal for the cruise? We are trying to stay at a Marriot because we have free night and points to use.  If picking a hotel near the cruise terminal seems like a better choice would taking the train to the airport or Penn station still be the smartest spot or is there another train station I am missing.

Finally do you need to provide the cruise with the train information for the day the cruise returns like you would a plane ticket or would it be like someone who drove to the terminal. It has been a good 10 years since we have cruised and I know so much has changed.

For a rapid test, the key pieces of information they're looking for are

    1) Location administering the test (name address phone)

    2) Type of test

    3) Date administered

    4) Results

If it's a nationally recognized chain or a government health agency, that's likely about as far as the details need to go based on the thousands of posts here on the topic.....

If it's from your local primary care doc, they might want the CLIA details.

That’s what I figured but wasn’t sure.  Especially since none of that was on there. Things change so quickly who knows what will be required when we travel.

    Sort of...

The main page shows testing options as being either arranged by you or tele test through Royal provider.  But if you follow the "types of tests accepted" link on the same page, you see that any test supervised by a medical person is fine.. Doesn't need to be from them.  Basically they look for an official printed report from a lab when you check in at the pier.

Accepted Types of Tests and Results

    • There are two common types of diagnostic COVID-19 tests
      • A molecular test, also called a PCR test or NAAT test – our testing requirements call this a “PCR test”
      • An antigen test, also called a rapid antigen test – our testing requirements call this an “antigen test"
    • The test must be supervised by a health professional, such as a doctor, pharmacy technician, public health worker, or telehealth professional. Telehealth testing at home is only accepted for vaccinated guests, and only when it is conducted under live video supervision. Learn more about acceptable telehealth tests including our home test kit.
    • You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.

Note that telehealth testing isn't allowed for sailings from Barbados.  This all assumes US sailing and vaccinated guest.

Don't overthink this one.  They spend about 15 seconds looking at your test paperwork as you enter the terminal.  As long as they see some kind of lab-like form with NEGATIVE, PCR or NAAT or antigen, "nasal" and two days or less from that date you won't have an issue.  No evidence that I can see of them picking and choosing test providers.  They do prefer printouts since they don't like scrolling around on a tiny page on a phone is a pain.

I’m confused by the wording that says the document has to have the lab name, clia lab number and address.  I referred back to my sons test results from when he tested positive and none of that was on either of his rapid or pcr and these were administered by the Department of Health in my state.  I also looked at a negative results we had obtained as well. Not only that but a rapid isn’t processed by a lab or do the mean the person/facility administering the test is the lab.

  16. i still find the funiest thing i have seen was on my first cruise with royal caribbean. Been on two more since, well anyway, we went to the quest game show, and if any of you out there have been to this you know what its like. Well we were sitting there, there was 35 in my party including aunts and uncles , and my parents. the staff asked for the first person to come up with 3 pairs of mens pants, well ill tell you i have NEVER!! seen so many man drop there pants so fast. including my father and sisters boyfriend, who were in tighty whities. I thought my mom was going to have a heart attack!! any way the night was nicly rounded out with my very macho 19 year old cousin, dressing in his sister clothing to win the best looking mail dressed up like female.(i would post the pictures, because they are that good but he would kill me) It was hillarious seeing these guys running around, so they could win, and mind you they knew in advance that the prices were only KEY CHAINS, AND LANYARDS:D ill tell you what a hoot!!
