  1. Saw this yesterday as well.  We were in a dilemma as to whether we cancelled our cruise for 9th May before our final payment which was due at the end of February.  After much deliberation we cancelled, just before Celebrity's offer to be able to rebook at a future date.  We  had booked this cruise on board Equinox in October at a good price with perks etc and with a low deposit, so it was a hard decision to make.  But we did receive an email a couple of days ago offering FCC for the amount of our deposit.  We thought that was pretty fair.  We are of course disappointed about cancelling and missing our first cruise to the Fjords, but fingers crossed for another opportunity in the future.

I'm pretty sure the surcharge was a line item on the Celebrity Guest Invoice and never included in the "Cruise Fare" line item.    I believe that if you don't have a line item charge for the surcharge you weren't charged.   Maybe someone else in this "boat" can confirm.

Thank you for your reply wrk2cruise.  Doesn't seem like an upgrade to PDP is on the cards.  Probably just as well.😊

  3. In October 2019 we booked a one week Norwegian Fjords cruise in May 2020 whilst on board the Equinox.  One of the perks included the Classic Drinks Package and we were told by lady who made the booking that the CDP surcharge of $14 pp per day was included in the cruise price.

We transferred our booking over to a local TA and we have just enquired as to whether we have been upgraded to the PDP.  On checking with Celebrity the TA was informed that the surcharge had not been applied to our booking and that it had only been applied to some US customer bookings - we are British customers by the way.  We can't see the surcharge separately on our booking details - which always seem overly complicated to interpret anyway.  Has anyone else had this response?  Many thanks.

We had a aft cabin on Equinox and I definitely noticed the vibrations. Lucky for us, we don't get seasick, but I think it would bother someone who is.

We have also experienced vibration issues - in an aft Aqua Class cabin on Eclipse last November and whilst we did not feel seasick, the continual vibration did become very irritating.

    Laughed at this one!

During a typical cruise we may go to an odd trivia, an odd lecture, an occasional show or activity but if we wanted more entertainment we would cruise on Royal Caribbean.

The highlights for us of cruising are....

Some nice relaxing lying by the pool in the sun,

Some nice relaxing star gazing late at night,

    Some nice relaxing quality meals,

Some nice relaxing quality family time,

Some nice relaxing time reading, doing crosswords or sudoku....

SNAP!  Or could this be considered as an activity?😁

  6. Just recently returned from a 12-day Western Med Cruise on the Eclipse.  Had cabin #1625 (Port/Aft) which noticeably  vibrated continually (whether sailing or berthed) for the duration of the cruise.  After a few days it did get on our nerves - and despite calm seas it made my husband feel slightly nauseous on waking in the mornings - and we are used to sailing in the rough Irish Sea:classic_laugh:.  We felt there was little point in complaining as the ship was pretty full.  Other than that though we had a fabulous time.😊

Is the food at the Elite breakfast plated or buffet style.

Its always been buffet when we’ve been on Eclipse, but it was plated on Silhouette in the summer.

i choose the Ultimate platter, as it had variety. The picture shows half, as my husband and I shared. Mine was minus the cheese, as I am Dairy Intolerant. They also did a fruit platter.

I was on the cruise previous to this one and the Elite Breakfasts in Tuscany were all plated, but I see from a previous post, it is buffet style on this one.😁

  8. Hope this is not too late for you.

The electric tram leaves the north end of Douglas Promenade to Laxey and onwards to Ramsey - this trip has some lovely views. In Laxey you can visit the Lady Isabella - the old waterwheel which used to pump water from the old lead mines. Also in Laxey you can transfer to a Snaefell Summit tram, the views from the top of our only official mountain are spectacular, but you really need a fine day to get the most of the views.

The Steam Railway leaves from North Quay in Douglas and goes to Castletown, where you can visit the medieval Castle Rushen (10/15 minutes stroll from the Station). The train also goes onto Port Erin, which has a beautiful sandy beach.

Feel free to ask any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them for you - I have lived on the Isle of Man all of my life.

    Have a wonderful cruise.

  9. Isle of Man?? The country of my heritage!! I SO want to visit!!

    Hi J&G

Do it - you would love it - though I could be biased.😁 Born, bred and still live on the Island. (In fact I lived just down the road from Captain Carl's family back in the day.) Azamara has, of course, visited a number of times with Captain Carl's at the helm.

There are some great IOM related pages on Facebook - including a Family History page - just have send a join request. That's if Facebook isn't a 'dirty' word at the moment.:o

  10. Thank you for your interesting review. My husband and I shall be joining the Millennium a week on Sunday for the Malaysia and Indonesia cruise, and are hoping the majority of the issues you encountered are ironed out by then. We shall also be sailing Aqua Class (for the first time), so I shall be comparing notes. Forewarned is forearmed.:)

We have sailed with Celebrity a number of times and have always enjoyed the experience. This will be our second cruise on Millennium, chosen this time for the itinerary.

I hope your next cruise (with whomever that might be) meets your expectations - which is all most customers would wish for - including me.:)

  11. We like the S class ships...

Enjoy expansion of non smoking policy...

Canyon Ranch spa better than prior company

Nice to have Specialty Restaurants...hope they adjust pricing down, elim a la carte and put in something like Bistro on 5..for lunch, brunch, crepes and paninis..maybe at the Porch

AQ class and BLU keep us cruising on X.. we would like our daily delivered water back!

Sailing AQ for the first time in November and I was disappointed to see that daily bottled water has been discontinued bar day 1. Seems a bit penny pinching to dispense with this 'benefit'.

No beverage perks or OBC included on our cruise - unfortunately.:(

Looking forward to experiencing Blu though.:)

  12. I'm a long time Celebrity traveller. I like Celebrity, but one thing keeps me from booking more cruises next year. The early breakfast closings in Blu and Luminae.

No other supposedly " premium " cruise line does this. Oceania and Seabourn are open until 10 am.

This draconian policy is especially frustrating on sea days, where one hopes to sleep in a little before getting ready for breakfast. Yet they close the doors at 9:00. 8:30 on port days, so those that stay on the ship are penalized.

Nothing " Modern Luxury " about that.

I once complained to a Food and beverage officer on the Silhouette about it. Luminae was new and he kept the restaurant open until 9:30 am ....

Yes I've heard the excuses about staffing etc..they are excuses not legitimate reasons.

I'm hoping that if others voice their displeasure, the Celebrity " official " cruise critic lurker might alert the management that this policy is really unpopular.

My husband and I are sailing in Aqua Class for the first time on our forthcoming cruise on

the Millennium in November, so are a bit disappointed to read about the breakfast closing times in Blu.:(

I wouldn't describe ourselves as 'lie a beds', but it is nice to be able to to be a bit more leisurely in the mornings when on holiday. Still, we shall see how we cope soon enough.:)

  13. Definitely Azamara in June. Hopefully the weather will be better and Azamara cruises are great - smaller ships, drinks included etc - which makes a huge difference as we are discovering re a forthcoming cruise with Celebrity in November with no drink package or OBC 'perks. Not that we are huge drinkers - we enjoy a tipple or two in the evening and sometimes during the day as well:D but just knowing you have paid for this in advance makes a world of difference. We think the Celebrity alcohol packages are quite expensive and I suspect we won't be purchasing any on top of what we are already paying.:(

We would cruise with Azamara every time if we could.

    Hope this helps.:)

  14. Cabin No.: 6050

    Ship: Journey

    Month/Year sailed: January 2014

Would you choose this room again? Yes - booked balcony guarantee and felt we couldn't have chosen much better to be honest.

Is noise an issue: Not at all

    Balcony size: Normal

Any other comments: well situated - very handy for lifts and staircase - also midship if sea sickness is an issue.
