It is time that Celebrity gives cash refund for customers who are over 80 My husband is 93 & I am 82. What use is FCC.

Now the canadian govt has a travel advisory for cruiselines. I am going to cancel but waiting to see if they cancel our April 25th Infinity crossing and if they give cash refund.

The industry is already being tremendously generous in their cancellation policies. They are about to be hit hard and have their own people to worry about. It is too bad that things are not going to pan out for you but the line does not owe you anything.

I hope those islands that were helped by the cruise lines when severely damaged by hurricanes don't forget that fact when considering ship calls. The cruise lines came to their aid with urgently needed medical supplies etc

These islands are poorly equipped to deal with a health crisis. They have no other choice.

All speculation on your part based on the little knowledge of the exact numbers known.

Exactly the alarmist information the media has put out.

Not really convinced you are knowledgable about epidemiology; the statistics are inferential and therefore not considered significant, too many variables that bring bias to any determination of the numbers.

    Are you even in healthcare?

How many cruise ships have been quarantined for influenza this year? How many people? How many regions of Italy?

Older people with no underlying health risk are more likely to have a mild case of this virus due to the fact that we've been exposed to viruses for a longer period of time, and had flu shots for upwards of 2 decades (my first one was 1995). We've had longer to build up immunities.

But, I'm not one to want to prove my theory.

    Not sure if serious.

This is an entirely baseless position. Older people have ALWAYS been more vulnerable to pretty much all communicable illnesses.

    That holds true with COVID-19

Does the government have to step in?

I am starting to lean towards yes, they do.

Infected, or potentially infected cruises are going to put a major burden on local health services right as they need to be preparing for this crisis. Thousands of people to quarantine and manage.

The cruise industry will be weakening communities ability to respond as the spread within the US begins. The entitled attitude being presented by some cruisers on twitter about todays cancelled cruise is way out of touch.

  6. Just pulling into Canaveral - the weather was rough last night. People are angry and disappointed. The chocolate covered strawberries were flowing last night. Bahamas is going to be a bust - no excursions and shops close at 5.

Cloudy and raining so no sun time.

I really hate to say it, but I think I would rather be home.

Speak for yourself. The rest of us are up on the pool deck having a good time.

  7. Both my wife and I are disappointed and upset. We both know that NCL doesn't control the weather but that doesn't change the fact that fact that months of planning and thousands of dollars have now been spent on what may turn out to be an incredibly disappointing trip. Are we going to try and make the best of it? Absolutely, but at this point we don't know anything about what the future holds for our trip. We haven't gone down to Guest Services, we haven't yelled and screamed at anyone. Currently we're sitting in our cabin licking our wounds.

To those that are saying, "this is what you get when you book during hurricane season" please take a moment to realize what a jerk you sound like. The cruise lines obviously offer itineraries during times of the year that they feel they can safely sail. I'm sure most of realize that nothing is certain, weather is unpredictable but to essentially say, "you're getting what you deserve" is pretty tactless. None of us asked for this to happen, we picked a sailing date that was offered to us, we didn't force NCL to offer October Bermuda dates.

My wife and I booked this trip ten months ago. Since then she's been laid off from her job, gone on unemployment and found a new job. Somehow we've still managed to make this trip happen despite her not having any vacation days at her new job, this entire week off for her is unpaid. We scrapped every penny we had and fought hard for months for this one week of fun in Bermuda and a few expensive days in NYC.

So yeah, it's a lot easier said than done to be super happy about the possibility of heading to Florida and the Bahamas at this point. I could have planned that trip on my own with a lot less effort and expense.

I am on the boat with you... this is what you get when booking during hurricane season. Deal with it or don't book during this time of year

  8. Eh, I don't hate my job, I have control of my schedule, and no one else does my work when I'm away. I would just as soon disembark with credit and try again another day.

Yes, I understand that some folks feel that you should just swallow and be happy, but this is a business built on loyalty, customer service, and good will. NCL is making a bad situation worse. Does it have to make it better ... no. Should it make it better ... yes. And, I say this as a shareholder as well as a passenger.

What do you expect them to do exactly?

  9. Thanks.

Is one beach preferred over the other(s)? The map was kind of confusing.

If I were you I would lean towards being near or at the lagoon. The further from the main area you get the fewer people, the area right next to the tenders was far to crowded for my tastes. We had the lagoon to ourselves when we visited GSC in the Dawn.

Of course if you have mobility issues that may be a challenge.
