You should screenshot the OBC on your phone incase you need it on the ship if it doesn't show up on your web browser booking.

Have your friend email   MSCExistingReservations@msccruisesusa.com to get his information straightened out. You could try that as well and explain the discrepancy between App & Web. I keep any email pretaining to any issues incase I need to show it on board.

Bilge has been XXXX_______!   Echo Moon

  2. Unique! This ship may show you (maybe last chance) before refit updates. Deck 6: large bars of the past, Deck 8: old to new, O'Sheehans & Deck 13: Star bar no more. Compare deck plans NCL Star (newer updated) to Jade being older (Jewel class). I liked deck 6 layout without smoke room. Prefer larger bar area! Champagne bubbles bar. PS: RMS are you watching webcam today (yesterday) LOL. Can see sail away as it sails down channel about 4-5PM, Look at bottom for area map (may help others). I can see it's not at my favorite berth, (longer walk to parking). See you next week. Have you watched slideshow of HC yet?

  3. I do not know where & when you woke up. FYI: When there is fog, not only is the Skyway bridge closed, the port of Tampa is also closed. At 12MN the port of Tampa web cam showed NO fog!

The reason for concern: Last year after a TA crossing, the NCl Star was plagued with propulsion ipod problems for more than a month (30 days). 3 weeks in a row ships schedules were interrupted. Replacement bearings required. Can be done at the dock, takes 36 hours. Mechanical issue, or ipod problem?

  4. Since you want an explanation from Bilge Rat, Nexttimeclub will translate.

Family's live in Tampa Bay area for more than 100 years.

NO FOG here nor on web cam at Tampa port.

Still no answer to what was the problem for 19-1/2 hours. Reputation control?

Actually, RMS nickname is not mr. bubbles, it is Bertha. Mr. Bubbles is another roll call member on the Jade 11/27.

It was his DJ nickname in a lounge in DC for 10 years.

So far we are the 3 fun people on the roll call. Bilge Rat kidds Bertha. Ask him about my psychic powers.

If you are really curious, read roll call for above date & Bilge Rats past posts (130 + cruises & 1200 + dives). Some have underwater pics.

Bilge Rat tries to educate as well as be humorous. It is NOT about my room. "All cabins arrive at the dock & depart at the same time."

  5. You made me think of the Costa book. Have not dug it out. Do have list of Costa cruises:Carla C '87, Rivera '88, Classica '92, Victoria '98 & '01, Magic '06, & Mediterranea '06.

Remember the Pony glasses of Vodka served with the Cavier? The section waiter who prepared dessert at each of his tables during cruise. Pygmy nuggets, yum.

On Carla C, pull cord in tub. Accidentally touch & the room stewardess would fly into the room, each time. Don't forget the toga parties. Sitting at the bar, one could hear bingo being called in how many languages.

  6. So you were on the Flavia.....I have oh so many questions....be prepared to tell all. As for the Bianca, I thought she was stunning externally...forward superstructure to die for. Oh so much to ask.

Look forward to meeting you on the Jade aka Hawaian 5-O👹

    Tom aka Bertha

This is nexttimeclub. We dove the Bianca C 2 times. We sailed on Classica '92, Victoria '98 & 2001. I have a souvenir tile from the pool - don't tell. Small story from Flavia. I was given an ash tray on the Carla C, in memory of Bilge's old girlfriend. Crew laughed about it all week!

PS from Bilge - We can compare life's geography. You have already received samples. Probably take more than a 7 day cruise to get through all of it. Limited to what we can say on site, plus the while world doesn't need to know.

I think it's going to be fun meeting you. Removed myself from the roll call.

    Your 4 legged friend, Bilge

  7. I just returned from my annual week-long scuba diving trip in Southern Belize. One of the locals who has worked on HC says NCL of course wants to keep people on HC, spending money, rather than offer a lot of chances to leave the island. As of last week, they were not even planning to offer boat rides to the mainland 9 miles away.

They cut through the reef to build this private island, and the marine life appears to be quite shell-shocked as a result. (That's first hand, not hearsay) The whale sharks which have been feeding in the area for many years, near Gladden Spit, have disappeared.

Like Royal Caribbean's "snorkeling and scuba trail" at their private islands, they will probably have a largely man-made area that will host a few small fish, but I doubt it will be very interesting. Snorkel in Roatan and it will be much better.

We are also scuba divers & not happy about NCL's NOT going to Belize City. They are losing my loyalty. New this week,Carnival bringing Miracle (7 day) to Tampa, Belize City included. A better alternative for scuba divers. 25 years diving in Belize. Thank you very much for passing on information. December 2nd will be in HC 7a to 1p, another bummer.

Meet & Mingle 09/24/2016 Carnival Glory

    From: Nexttimeclub

    To: meet_and_mingle <meet_and_mingle@cruisecritic.com>

    Date: Mon, Sep 19, 2016 3:47 pm

Received 2 e-mails today (9/19/2016) re: meet & mingles. The people state they gave room numbers & registered online as directed.

They state that NONE of them received an invitation, nor was it posted in the Fun Times on the respective ships.

Laura S. - There still remains a glitch, or cruise critic is NOT communicating with the Carnival ships.

Note: Other cruise lines do the meet & mingles with passengers on roll call with making their own lists, & reconfirmed on roll call.

How do I reconfirm what I have sent to so far? I have NEVER received a response to confirm anything.

Sounds like you need to hire a passenger to do this job.

Give me the name of the person in charge on Cruise Critic & the Carnival ship Glory, for meet & mingles.

Requested more than a month ago: How do I take my name off the list. So far NO response

    Respectively sent,

October 2, 2016 Awaiting for reply for 2 weeks.

It was posted in the FunTimes a 5PM Ivory Club Grand Bar, 4 Aft. No personal invitation received in stateroom.

As for you who can’t read; Sunday 9/25/16. I went to Guest Services & was told the M&M would be Monday 9/26/16 at 5PM. “Learn from the more experienced”

Proceeded there at correct time, saw 2 couples sitting in the Ivory Club (large bar, entrance to dining room). No CC sign, nor cruise ship representative to greet guest. Asked bartender about M&M. She said, “It’s not here”.

Circled the M&M in Fun Times. She left & returned stating, “Someone will be here shortly”. Waited 1 hour, NO one from ship showed up.

This is okay? 5 months later: NO problems.

Note: 50 plus on M&M sign up sheet.

  9. Great idea: Mismanaged. How to remove (unjoin)? Last months post about problems removed, reputation control, maybe? I do show up if signed up but not knowing time, place, sea or port day I can not and will not. The notice the night before maybe... lol. This is a big complex problem others have solved a long time ago. So the unjoin button, Please. Thank You.

Monthly update: Received same email last night at 7:01PM. I am hoping something positive, not another hurtle, fence to jump over, or weasel clause. Sailing on the Glory next month. Originally have to sign up 2 weeks before sailing. Now, have to register 3 weeks before sailing. Dynamics of meet & mingle - moving target? The positive part is asking for room number. Already have my name, email address, & roll call handle. Does NOT show up on roll call. Have to go to Community, or boards to register. There they ask for a booking number.

What do you think? 130 plus cruises, less than 2 years on Cruise Critic, disappointed! I'll keep depending on myself. Update next month after cruise.

  10. We've been scheduled to go to Harvest Cay for more than a year. Promises, promises. 3 times plus on NCL. Going on the Glory next month. I know it goes to Belize City. That's where I go scuba diving (20 years). 130 + cruises. 1st time having a morning beach day. Breakfast on the beach? It will be a first. Read all past post for divers.

  11. We were on the Paradise (April 30, 2016). We have found Carnival diving excursions as reasonable as on shore. Dove the Kittiwake & a reef off ship for $129.99. It included equipment which we do not use, as we carry own. The ship told us it would be with Don Foster. The dive operation was actually Cayman Diving. The DM (Manny Tellez) gave an excellent briefing. He had a card & showed us where we would enter & go deck to deck. I even went up in the rescue bell. The ship has 2 decompression chambers. Kitchen had pots welded to floor. Look at "diving on Paradise" May 25th,2016 has pictures. Nexttimeclub

Also look at past posts (nexttimeclub) for other underwater pictures.

  12. Dive Mule, Booked off the ship because of tender & time restraints. Was told by excursion person, diving would be with Don Foster. Not true. Made it back with 20 minutes to spare. We dove with Cayman Diving. They picked us up, long ride to boat dock. Boat is only set up for 6 divers. There were 2 other experienced divers, which was nice. Dove Mitch Miller reef & the USS Kittiwake. Manny Tellez DM, gave a through dive briefing, deck by deck on how we were going to dive the wreck. No discount for own equipment. People that may be doing this wreck should read up on history. Very interesting, & well worth money spent. The ship also used SandDollar Sports in Cozumel. We have dove with them for more than 15 years. Big boat this time.

  13. Yesterday 5/6/2016, after posting, checked & the post was online in roll call NCL Jade 11/27/2016. Information & pictures on roll call. Today 5/7/2016 post is no where to be found. This post is NOT on all posts of nexttimeclub.

    WHERE IS MY MISSING POST?

TITLE: 1st time on Carnival Paradise - newest scuba taxi

Also on roll call able to see page 1 messages 1-19. NOT able to see pages 2-4.

    Cruise Critic IT problem?

  14. We will be on the Carnival Paradise next week (April 30th). Am looking into maybe using scuba tours off ship. Have done EdenRock many times. Does Carnival still use Don Foster? Please share experiences of late. In Cozumel, Carnival has been using SandDollarSports. I agree this shop is good for cruise ships. 1000+ logged dives. Maybe others dives on the ship this week?

  15. Hi, folks. I don't know if we're going to get to Harvest Caye or not, we're booked on the Norwegian Jade for Dec. 4-11 and there have been plenty of delays in getting the island ready. Pretty contentious with the locals, too, lots of concern about environmental impact.

That being said, I've been trying to figure out if there will be any decent off-the-beach snorkeling on the island, haven't been able to find any info, and looking at the satellite view with Google Maps, it doesn't look too promising. Does anyone have any information about this?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you read or joined the roll call for NCL Jade? From nexttimeclub & BilgeRat. We are on the Jade the week before you.

  16. Wondering if Vision from Tampa stays on Eastern time, or changes to Central time (island time). Hoping somebody on her recently can confirm.

Also if anyone has compasses from recent sailings, that would be great too!

On Vision 11/29/14. I asked the same question. "Diamonds" did not know, or said "ship stays on ship time". Untrue the week we we on the Vision. They changed time before Honduras & after Cozumel changed back.
