I go straight to the highest deck and start a methodical tour of the ship deck by deck. Even if I have been on the ship before I like to meet the staff and see any changes that may have occurred since I last sailed. I'll of course grab drinks at the first bar I come to and refill along the way.

I love this, because my answer is the exact opposite. I start at the lowest deck and work my way up, primarily because I can sign my little guy up for the kids stuff on 5 on the last cruise and my next one, and then work my way up to the buffet, which is usually slightly emptier at that point.

  2. The one cruise we took with our little guy when he was 19 months old we did the Escape to Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup and Nassau from NYC. Obviously, a different itinerary than yours, but still some island hopping. We didn't bring the car seat and were okay. Navigating getting on and off the ship with just the stroller was hard enough, I couldn't imagine doing it with the car seat and base.

We took the shuttle bus to Cocoa Beach and he sat on our laps for that trip, it was a little tough but not so bad. We did a cab to Atlantis from the port in Nassau and that was a little more harrowing, but we got through just fine without the car seat. The thing is, those were all 10-15 minute rides. I haven't done any of the ports that the Escape is going to in November, but if you are thinking of taking longer trips, that might be a different story.

Good Luck, we had a blast on the Escape with our little dude. The Guppies program was great!! Enjoy.

  3. I did it for my honeymoon in the summer of 2016, so I can't speak about more recent sailings. But my wife and I found it worth every penny.

We sailed out of Rome (I am never going to spell the actual town right, so I am calling it Rome) and we did feel a little left out having joined the Barcelona people mid-cruise and it was weird leaving the ship to spend the day in Barcelona and being told goodbye, only to have them realize we would be back in a few hours. I will say the chair hogging was much worse on that cruise than any other I have taken. But honestly, the ship was great, the food even better than American based cruises since we could get more food every day in port (my wife still hasn't stopped talking about the tomatoes), and overall we had a blast

Those problems were the tiniest of inconveniences though, and we had the time of our lives. Like I said above, it was worth every penny.
