  1. Yep. I don't think any cruise line has actually banned the use of plastic straws, they are limiting their use of them. I doubt they'd say anything if you brought your own. I am pretty sure that Carnival said they would still give out straws with the frozen drinks which is good because I can't imagine drinking them without one (although I'm sure I'd adjust if I had to).
We were on the NCL Escape in July and they wouldn't give straws even when asked. We didn't order frozen drinks since it was such a pain to try to drink it without a straw.

We will be bringing our own straws on board now. ;)

  2. My husband and I have a cruise scheduled in Jan 2017 that goes to these ports and others. As well as spending a few nights in Barcelona. Is there anyone that has been in January that could give me a good idea of what they wore and if the weather was cold. We are from NC and I hate being cold. :)

    Thanks in advanced.

  5. Rachael,

Are you going on the NCL Spirit? We're booked (18 of us and the group is growing). I've also started research. It'll be here before we know it! Maybe we can share info

    Hi Maryann,

We are going on the Spirit leaving Barcelona on Jan 6th. Is that the same as you? Sorry it took a little bit to get back to you.

  6. I think I am one of the rare ones, but I like Nassau. We tend to walk around. If you guys are into forts, Fort Charlotte is pretty cool. Fort Fincastle is neat but Fort Charlotte is much better. Of course, if you have never been before, you need to go to the Queen's Staircase. I tend to see it each time we go anyway just because I enjoy it. Before we get back on board there is a pub on land that is called the Pirate's Republic that brews beer onsite. They have drinks and free popcorn and allow kids. Like I said, I enjoy the town and allows find something interesting.

    Have a great trip,

    Rachel

  7. My husband and I are on a 10 day roundtrip Barcelona in Jan 2017. Yes, it is a long way away, but I am one of those that starts planning the minute a cruise is booked. :)

For anyone that has traveled around Italy and Rome in January, could you help me out here. I am a fairly cold natured person and I am trying to figure out what to bring and not over pack.

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks,

    Rachel

  8. IMO, the decor and amenities are better on RC, but in regards to service and relaxation, etc, RC and Carnival for us has always been the same.

You will get so many opinions on right better feel, but if it were me, I look at the boats and decide on one for this trip and the other for another.

We do tend to sail more with Carnival personally. Have fun and whichever you choose, you will have a great time.

  9. If I remember correctly, it is based on what the cruise itself is. For example, we were looking into a 8 day cruise and when I asked, they said it would be the cost per day for 8 days. If others have been told or charged different, please let us know.

For us, that is almost $800 for husband and myself. We like to drink, but we are beer drinkers. I enjoy gin and tonics, but not frozen drinks, so for us, it isn't worth the cost.

  10. If there is anyone on the boards that has stayed in V23 on the Fascination, could you tell me about the view or suite. It is a Junior Suite with an obstructed view. I have looked at the deck plans and it seems like the life boat that is near it is one of the smaller onees.

So, if you have stayed, can you tell me how obstructed it is or if you have pictures that would be great.

    Thanks.

  11. Does anyone know the cost if you book a spa package on board the first day. When I called to see about upgrading to a spa balcony, it was going to be @ $600 more. Nope, not an option.

I would be the one indulging in the spa, not the hubby as much.

  12. Not to us, we like Nassua a lot. It is just small enough that you are able to get off the boat and walk around. You can almost see everything on your own or in walking distance.

I have a walking tour of nassua in another post. I will look for it and repost.

Get off the boat and do some nice and leisurely exploring.
