We did the Book of Kells experience but were quite underwhelmed. However, the library is quite something BUT was going through a refurbishment in the fall.  So was not the best use of time for us.

I would take a taxi as well which is what we did when we visited in September.  We did the tour that included how to properly pour a glass of Guiness.  Great fun!!  We did have a bowl of chowder in the restaurant at the end - very delicious.

We stayed at the Moxy & were very pleased with it.  Rooms are small but were sufficient for the two of us. We also liked the breakfast & the folks working there.  Very close to many restaurants in the very large mall.

JB, Thanks so much for the above detailed information.  All very useful.  I did not know we could go on one ferry & take the other one back.  And yes, I expect we will need a 'day off' after these 2 days!

rtdiva, Thanks so much for your speedy reply!  Lots of good information & yes, we will take the bus to Osborne House!  We are good walkers as well but do want to have energy to see Osborne once we get there.

Our other day out in Southampton will be to Portsmouth.  Will be a first time for us at both of these locations so are really looking forward to all.

DH got some balsamic salad dressing on his white jacket.  Laundry did a perfect job in getting it out.

Can anyone suggest some other day trips from Southampton by train or bus.  We will have 3 days there next fall after a trip to Ireland & before our transatlantic.  Thanks.

Where does one purchase an eSIM card?

We stayed at the Renaissance again in February 2022 & had a good stay.  It is clean, close to the port & has good staff.  We have it booked again for next January.

We have also stayed at Embassy Suites but found it old & dreary.  Only bonus was that we were given a rom with a balcony.

We are doing an Emerald land tour & river cruise in September & I had some questions.  I realized it would  be a very long wait to call so used their online chat.  Had an answer very quickly that they would get back to me in 1-2 weeks as they were dealing with clients that were sailing in the next couple of weeks.  One week later I  received a personal message from Emerald that took care of all of my concerns.

Just wanted to let folks know that Emerald is taking care of its clients!!

Thanks for sharing.  We were fortunate to see a couple of the pink flamingos when we visited the Galapagos.  Hopefully they will survive this eruption.
