  1. Does anyone think that this would be a viable option for people who have a 12:30pm flight? I was thinking of getting in a shuttle / taxi but I was worried about rush hour traffic since I'm expecting to travel to the airport around 8 - 9 A.M. Any thoughts on whether or not this would work would be greatly appreciated.

  2. go to doctors office on the ship, you can get crutches or a walker for a fee on sign and sail and as long as you return it the day before cruise ends, no charge. I had to do this as my knee went out on me my last 2 sea days.

    Thanks for the tip rooster.

Side note: I should have said this in the OP. He has the crutches already. Walmart had some collapsible one for cheap. Sh we are good there, however we don't know if we would qualify for special assistant for embark and debark.

  3. My fiance and I are getting on the Victory later today.

Long story short he has a strain in his calf and he is currently unable to walk without crutches.

Can any one give me some tips on who to talk to in the Miami terminal? Or what to do/request from quest services while on ship?

  4. Wondering about the spa. What is the pp or couple cost for a day or a week?

Also, if we do not buy anything, what areas of the spa are open to us as just plain passengers. For instance, can we use a spa hot tub, or steam room. I know we can use the gym and change/.showerrooms.

would love to know what movies are being shown out side and what that experience is like if you do it. Thx

The splendor charges to use certain things. A small sauna and shower/change area along with the gym are available to you as a passenger for free. Some other things are available for a fee.

  5. You're probably better off waiting for a big sale. Anymore, it doesn't really pay to book on board but I guess it all depends on circumstances. I'm usually a solo traveler and can get a better deal through a big sale or a TA that throws in some extra perks.

What perks do you get when with a TA?

  6. My wife and I are sailing on the Sensation on Jan. 29. It's our first cruise. It's also a total surprise to her. She has no idea that we're doing anything that weekend...let alone a cruise!

I wanted to surprise her for her birthday with a weekend with no kids, just to relax and I thought this was perfect. It's been fun sneaking around talking to her boss about being away from work and to her parents about keeping the kids while we're gone. My plan is to tell her the day before we leave to pack a 4-day bag for someplace warm. She'll never suspect a cruise and the thought won't cross her mind until we pull into the port. We're only a few hours drive from Port Canaveral, so getting there is pretty easy.

Any suggestions on telling her what to pack or bring without giving it away?

I recommend bringing a jacket because the ship can get pretty cold. I've sailed on the sensation a couple times and I always end up wandering around in my bathrobe because of the temperature. The Bahamas can get pretty cold during this time of year.

    * tip - prepay your gratuities.

  7. Obc is based on the number of days that you are sailing. And carnival doesn't really have 'perks'. Most perks are for repeat cruisers.

    2-5 days=$25 pp for a total of $50

    6= a total of $75

    7-10 or 11 days = $50 pp for a total of $100

    12+ days = $100 pp for a totally of $200.

All of this obc is based on double occupancy.

  8. You get price drops if and only if the rate that you booked under is located as early saver.

    - you can get price drops if your category room, or one above it is cheaper than the rate at which you booked.

(This means that if you book a 4b interior and the price drops $20, you must go online or call carnival to submit a price drop form.

If that form is approved you will get that price difference as non refundable onboard credit.

If the price drops on a room in a higher category, like a 4j or a 4h, you should be able to take the upgrade if you want it or the on board credit.

    - keep an eye out on the website for sales.

  10. A 7 day cruise will always have 2 semi-formal dinners in the main dining room. You might want to consider taking another formal outfit and depending on your cabin you could have a maximum of 2 power outlets ( not sure how many devices you plan to bring so the multi plug is a good thing to bring.

  11. My mom is 70 - and this is not her first -

this cruise was a gift to her for her 70th and she invited me :) to go with her !

Since she is treating me for the cruise - I decided to pre book some things to surprise her - I did book a cabana at half moon cay and faster to the fun.

I also moved us from a balcony cabin to a spa balcony.

Lastly, I wanted to try and do one of those dinners - just trying to decide which one.

The chefs table is $75 per person. The steak house is $35 per person.

Chef Rakesh is a wonderful cook who made my chefs table experience on the splendor 2 weeks ago just amazing.

Reservations for the steak house can be made before booking the trip while reservations for the chef's table cannot.

  12. Aw. That sucks the menu was different each week. Guess preplanning to eat at the steakhouse is rather hard

The menus were the same both weeks. They were just given to us in a different order.

I ate at the steakhouse the first night of my first cruise, and my reservation was made before I got on the boat.

You can always ask the dining staff for the menus of the week and inquire as to what order they will be given during the "restaurant inquiries" on embarkation day.
