  1. I can't find this info anywhere on the website.

Anyone know what the teen/children's rates are?  ie what % of adult rates?  I am assuming they should be less due to the no alcohol.

Looking at the Mediterranean cruises with a 12 and 14 year old.

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hi,

Has anyone ever seen or done a shore excursion to Saranda, Albania from Corfu?  Is it possible, or is the timing too tight?

We are looking at Adriatic/Mediterranean cruises for next summer.  My youngest son really wants to do a day trip to Albania.  Unfortunately there are no cruises with an actual stop in Saranda within our dates and price range.  So I am wondering if stopping in Corfu and doing it as a day trip would be a feasible option?  It looks like we would have 10 hours in port.  Most of the day tours I have seen by Googling say 10 hours, so too tight.

    Has anyone done this?

    Thanks in advance

  3. How can we find out if any ships have made it to Tracy Arm?

I'm going on the Disney Wonder, supposed to be in Tracy Arm on Aug 17th. I want to keep checking to see if any cruise ships make it down before my departure.

Anyone know where to get that info?

  4. Thanks for your review! We are going on the Disney Wonder next month with our boys who are 4 and 6 - so similar ages to yours.

    A couple of questions:

    - where exactly was that great playground in Juneau? Or do you remember what it was called? We are also renting a car and driving to Mendenhall Glacier, and a finding a good playground would be fantatsic

    - Was the nugget falls trail easy for kids to do? How long did it take you to hike it with them?

    - Did you stop anywhere else in Skagway? Dog cart, Carcross?

    Thanks!

  5. We are on the Disney Wonder, disembarking Monday Aug 22. We are then planning to pick up a rental car from Thrifty on Seymour St and take the ferry over to Victoria.

    Questions:

    - on a Monday morning in August, do you think we need to pre-book the ferry to Victoria? Or if we just show up, are we likely to get a spot?

    - Which ferry (ie what time) do you think we might reasonably be able to make? Assuming we walk off the ship around 7:45 am, clear customs, get rental car and drive in Monday morning traffic.

    Thanks!

  6. Our plan for Skagway is to rent a car and drive ourselves to Emerald Lake with stops along the way. We are 2 families with kids aged 4, 6, 10, 11.

We plan to stop at one of the dog sled/cart camps. I'm debating going to the one at Caribou Crossing, vs the one at Tagish Lake run by Michelle Phillips, which i think is new this year.

Has anyone done both/either? I would love to hear opinions on which one we should do.

    Thanks!

  7. I took my kids when they were 18 months and 3 years, and again when they were 2 1/2 and 4 years. They both still talk about it and are so excited to go again in a few months. My kids didn't know most of the characters, and didn't spend much time in the kids club, but they still loved it.

I would say it's NOT worth it for the under 3 year olds, and those who aren't potty trained (it was really difficult telling youngest DS that he couldn't go in the pool or the kids clubs).

  8. We're on the Aug 15th Disney Wonder cruise. I also have the Tracy Arm excursion booked for all of us - my kids are 4 and 6. I was waiting to hear others' reviews in June and July before deciding if we'll all go, or just DH and I. Ideally I'd like to bring my kids, but it's a lot of money to spend if they are just going to whine and be bored. So if you do it, please post your review!

  9. I didn't read everyone else's answers but want to share what we decided. We are on going on Disney wonder with 3 yr old and 17 month old. For Juneau we will do "best of Juneau" with whale watching, salmon bake, and glacier visit. Since we haven't actually gone yet - I can't say how it worked out but based on our situation this is what we think will work best.

I am also on the Disney Wonder this August, and travelling with a 4 year old and a 6 year old. I find with young children, it is easiest NOT to take an organized tour, so that there is flexibility with eating times, bathrooms, change of plans for tantrums/crankiness etc.

We have rented a car through Juneau Car Rental ($65, car seats are free), and we will drive to Mendenhall Glacier and let the kids walk/run around there. We will then drive to the Gold Creek Salmon Bake for lunch. There is an outdoor area so the kids can run around, and there is a campfire with roasting marshmallows. Much easier than a sit-down restaurant. then we will drive to the Macaulay Hatchery to watch the salmon running up the ladder. they have touch tanks there. My kids are interested in fish/sea life so I think they will enjoy that. If we have time after that, we will try to find a playground somewhere in Juneau and let them just play.

  10. I would like someone's opinion about our best transportation options. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). We would like to visit Mendenhall Glacier as well as the Salmon Hatchery, preferably on our own and not on a set tour. Possibly go to the salmon bake too.

I know there are shuttles to Mendenhall, and I have read that the Blue Bus is $20 per person. it seems as though the White Bus is now $30 per person starting this year (which makes me think the Blue Bus may raise it's prices too).

Does anyone know if children pay the same rate? Or are they free?

If the fee is indeed per person, then we are looking at $80-$120 just to get to Mendenhall, plus however much a cab would be to get to the Salmon Hatchery. I'm trying to decide if we should just rent a car ($94 from Avis in downtown Juneau) and have more freedom for roughly the same price? Or just take taxis or a combo of taxis and public transportation?

    Any thoughts?

  11. Has anyone done this excursion with young children?

DCL lists the minimum requirements as 36 " tall and 4 years old. the submarine website only lists the height requirement, not age.

DS is already over 36" tall, but he will be only 2 years 10 months at the time we are there. Are we likely going to be allowed to do it?

Is it a good excursion for young kids? (My other DS is 5 years old and is into submarines)
