  1. I did Dive Fair Helen in April and it was amazing. We booked a discover scuba because my bf isn’t certified so it was a shallow dive, but it was amazing. Tons of fish, corals, so many eels, a few lobsters. It was great. Crew was also awesome and the provided lunch was delicious. They do have snorkelers and divers on the same boat but that was no issue. They let the snorkelers off in one spot with a guide and take the divers to another spot close by. My favorite dive trip far.

  2. Ti Kaye would not take my bf and I out back in April because they said they did not have enough time for the trip with the ship schedule. Sounds like we didn’t miss much. We ended up going with Dive Fair Helen and it was phenomenal. We did a discover scuba because my bf isn’t certified, so we stayed shallow along the shore. Soooo many fish, corals, crazy amount of eels, a few lobsters. It’s my favorite dive I’ve ever done. I’d recommend looking them up if you make it back to St Lucia.

  3. I see you haven't posted since last month but just wanted to say Thank you for posting this info.

I never considered flying from BWI until I saw your post. Southwest just opened bookings today for December when we are going and got flights for $122 each way about 1/2 of what it would cost on AA out of Philly.

Yayyy! I’m so glad my post was able to help someone! Enjoy your cruise!

  4. I went all out during The Quest. If you've participated or attended, you have a good idea of what that means :o:o:o:o:0

I also was on a team that won Quest. On the same cruise on the Glory they did a singles game while waiting for the late 18+ comedy show. I was recently separated and my cousin volunteered me for the game. It was down to myself and one other girl and we were basically playing musical chairs with a guy instead of a chair. When the music stopped the girl with the most body parts touching the guy won. I basically planked on him and the other girl had no where to go :D:p Two ships on a stick that trip!

  5. Just got off the Fascination and I guess we must have sailed on a different ship. Crowded would be an understatement to us. Food is a subjective matter but in our opinion we found it to be below par at best. Can't complain about the crew, they were great, especially Jomar, our cabin steward and Paul, waiter at the Blue Iguana Bar.

The window in our OV was ok for letting in light but so crusted over on the outside that there was no way to see very clearly. Yes, I realize it's a seagoing vessel and the salt accumulates but at every port they were cleaning one side of the ship however they never docked in such a way that there would be an opportunity to clean our side.

Any cruise is better than nothing but we will avoid this class of ships in the future. Everyone has their own tastes and opinions which is great, and if you like these ships have a blast but for us, we're looking forward to being on a Conquest class ship again in December.

    JMHO YMMV

Your cabin must have been very close to ours because we also had Jomar. He was great! I however did not have the same experience with the crowds. There were a few days at breakfast that seemed crowded but the only other time we noticed was leaving the shows in the Palace Theater.

I was on the last sailing before the FEMA contract so it was cool to see the upgrades. The only place that felt “dingy” to me was the theater. I actually commented on the October sailing that it was a good thing the ship was going to dry dock because the theater seats needed upgrading. This wasn’t done. All of the other upgrades were great! I had Guys burgers three times I believe. I even went once when returning from the ship when only Guys, pizza, and the deli were open and had no line. One weird thing I noticed though, no new menu in the deli.

  6. For those that say this is over priced, what price did you pay? I am seeing $ 119 pp on the website. That is less than the catamaran excursions we did in Roatan and Barbados ($ 129 pp). Those were only 5 hours total and the one in Roatan was less than 3 hours on the water.

I paid the price on the website. For comparison I did a full day tour in St Kitts for $45pp. This tour was an hour longer than Bobs and also included a delicious lunch. This was a land based tour so that accounts for some of the difference. In St Lucia I did a discover scuba course for $129pp. This included two dives, all scuba equipment, and a very thorough discover scuba course. Also included another lunch that was very comparable to what was provided on Bobs tour. When compared with the value of the dive trip, Bobs tour is not as good of a value.

  7. I went out on this tour yesterday (and now I’m sad on my couch at home). We received an email 2 weeks-ish ago explaining about the restaurant and that we would be having sandwiches. When we got there yesterday morning they let us know that we would be going to a different restaurant. It was a delicious bbq joint so hopefully they will be using this stop regularly. Our tour guide was Sam and I believe Yanis, and both were great. We only got to see the Caribbean side of the island because the water was very rough but that was okay with all of us on the boat. Sam showed us a lot of areas that were hard hit and was telling us about the hotels and how long it will take before they start opening back up. The tour was very good but was a little over priced compared to the other island tour prices. It does seem like a one time trip for me but I am glad we did it.

  8. WE are scheduled to board between 1:00 and 1:30 on April 8th, Does anyone kn ow if it is possible to board, put stuff in our cabin and then get off again? Also does anyone know if there are fridges in ocean view cabins?

    Thanks

You can definitely get back off. We’ve got the same boarding time and we’ll be grabbing some lunch and then heading out to see the forts.

  9. Last week so price is current. Next door to Boatyard. No water toys If that’s what you’re looking for

Does Lobster Alive include the turtle swim or transportation back to the ship? I’m not concerned with water toys. I checked their website but it doesn’t include much information. Thanks!

  10. That’s ridiculously high! I’m not flying during a holiday, heading down in 17 days actually, but the flight down is $122 and the flight home is $129. Both are direct flights into BWI on Southwest.

  11. The ride last night all the way til we rounded st Thomas was 12-81 foot seas - so we slept like babies. It was great! Watching the huge waves roll in and crash at the San Juan old city gate was cool!

The only other thing I can add at this point is the MDR is just not as smooth as it should be. In addition to what I reported last night, today they forgot my hot tea, never offered the breakfast breads, are out of bananas (how is this possible -especially since my son had 2 banana splits last night for dessert), forgot my homemade granola (which is very delicious) etc. The head water was about to lose his mind at his staff. But a simply reminder for each thing fixed the problem with a smile so no complaints here.

Just dumping in to say that I love your attitude about things not being perfect. Some people would have lost their minds. Just over a month left until I’m on board!

  12. I've got to get your secret on how you only spend a second to check prices. Takes more than that for me to just to get filter applied to get to month and ship. Then stepping through the selections for number of passengers, # of rooms, then choosing type of plan, type of room, section on ship and then the desired floor. What do you do differently?

Click on “previous searches” and it will drop down your last 3 searches. Doesn’t save to much time, but it’s something.

I literally just timed myself doing a mock booking and it took 33 seconds. I went from a blank internet page to the page where you select “garauntee” vs “let me choose my room”. I usually stop at the page previous to that when checking for price drops. That’s worth it to me to save some money.

  13.

I also am eager to hear about the condition of the islands, particularly Dominica.

I was just doing a mock booking and the trip at the end of April has Antigua now instead of Dominica. I think the first trip to Dominica is now in July. Hopefully the island is ready by then so they can get the benefit of the tourism dollars.

  14. Just received a letter from Carnival for our upcoming cruise on the Fascination on November 4th that we will not be having any sea days. Super port intensive. Plus a nice price drop using early saver.

San Juan, PR - St. Thomas, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, St. Marteen, Barbados - San Juan, PR

Jealous! That itinerary is available a few weeks after my trip but at the time of booking was priced much higher than the sailings that skip Dominica. Now they are almost the same price!

  15. I'm sorry if I sound stupid and/or nosy, but lst, HOW do you get a $450 OBC? Is that for price drops? And how do you know you would lose it?

I was supposed to be on a cancelled Fascination cruise back in October. Our cancellation offer was $200 in OBC if we rebooked on the same ship. I received a price drop the other day that got me the other $237.

I guess that is why they call it OBC- On Board Credit:confused:....LoL

With an ES booking I have read that if a category above the one you are currently booked on becomes cheaper than what you paid then you can upgrade to that room. Half of my credit is due to a price drop so I thought maybe I could put it towards an upgrade. Thanks for your helpful response though (y)
