  1. We just got off her on Monday after doing a 2 week cruise from Sydney to Auckland.  I love this ship, yes it is small and an older ship but she is lovely and the staff are wonderful.  This is our second time on her and we have just booked again for 30 days in October.  First time we had a lanai which we loved, this time we had cabin 418 right at the back on deck 6.  We loved the access to the promenade right outside our door, but beware the ship plan doesn't show it but there is an air conditioning unit right next door and the noise bothered my husband.  We had issues with the air con, guest services gave us a fan and that helped, my parents were in 420 and their air con was fine.  We have booked 420 for our next cruise.  Not a ship with huge amounts of entertainment but we love the little nooks and crannies that seem to exist more on older ships makes it very cosy,  it is like what I imagine the old days of cruising are.  The food is amazing!!!

    It's a very strict no-no on MSC

Any you bring on board will be kept safe for you and returned on the last night of your cruise

    Pete

Thanks for that will leave it at home 🙂

  3. I have sailed with Princess, RCI and Celebrity and you are allowed to bring onboard 2 bottles of wine for in your cabin.  This will be our first time with MSC, is their rule the same.  We are doing the Durban to Venice on Musica 24 day cruise and would like to bring some wine onboard.

Thanks for you help with this.

Lucky you! We were offered a move over offer on our first cruise with Princess but at the time we both were working and DH couldn't easily adjust his vacation time so we had to reluctantly refuse. Now that we are retired we are hoping for another offer. Enjoy your free cruise!

We are lucky we are retired so very flexible.  Sad to not be going on Majestic but will be fun finding something else.

  5. I have just accepted a move over offer on the Majestic Princess cruise.  We were travelling with our parents both in balcony cabins, and today received a move over for both our cabins.  Full refund of cruise fare  in refundable on board credit, a free cruise of 13 days and $250 towards air fare changes.

We were all really looking forward to the cruise but that was just too good an offer to refuse.

Hope you all have a great time!

  6. If all else fails use the garbage bin. We bought some and they lasted ages even without the chemical stuff. Nearly got accosted on numerous occasions getting on the ship with people trying to take my gorgeous flowers. :D

  7. I have never heard of an 'upsell offer' to Aussies, have you?

We got one once on Diamond Princess repositioning from Tokyo to Sydney. It was from oceanview to balcony for $190pp. We took it cause we thought it was great. Really enjoyed the balcony. Haven't received anymore since. Am hoping for one on our Baltic cruise that we have just booked. :D

  8. I just came back from a 15 day Panama canal cruise and I am 18 months post op from a VSG. I have lost about 100 pounds and I love cruising. I find that the buffet is not really my friend and prefer to eat dinner in the main dining room. I just order and eat what I can, and then my husband will finish off what I can't eat. I love the dining room because the portions are not huge. In the buffet I tend to choose too much, and then feel bad that I can't eat it all (old habits die hard) even all this time after surgery I can still fall into the trap of taking too much on a plate. We have breakfast in the buffet and I have what I would have at home granola with yoghurt and fruit. And lunch in the buffet but just choose really carefully. I also take a stack of protein bars with me wherever I am and have them as a great back up.

When we are on a ship now, we never use the lift, always take the stairs and either walk the decks on sea days or use the walking machine in the gym. On port days, I now have the energy to walk forever!

It is really funny how my life and focus has changed from being all about food, to now it is really just something that fuels my body and doesn't hold the attraction that it used to. The waiters do worry that you are not enjoying it. but I just smile and say that I loved it but I just can't eat anymore. They get used to me and it has never been a problem.

Loving my new lease on life.

  9. We are doing Tokyo to Vancouver in May on Millie. We are really looking forward to it. We have one of the sweet 16 cabins. My question to anyone who has done this cruise, is what is the weather like. Wondering what to pack. It will be summer in Vancouver and Las Vegas (we have 3 nights in Vegas on the way home) and I am wondering what to pack. Shorts and t-shirts or jeans and jumpers?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  10. I know I was the same - very happy I got mine so quickly!

I also got an email this afternoon from Celebrity advising my cabin allocation. I booked direct with them and not through a TA though.

Looks very official so hopefully that means they won't change it!

I had to book through cruise1st because it was the only way we could get a cabin. Celebrity was sold out. Am regretting doing it through them because no one will help me at Celebrity. I usually book everything myself direct, because I like to be in control. Oh well I know for next time. Keep my fingers crossed that we get something nice.

    :)

  11. Niqian - I don't think its the express pass you need to look at, as I don't have that yet. I just logged into my Celebrity account - click 'Manage Booking', and where before it said 'You booked #Balcony Gty' it now says the cabin number and deck. It was easy to get into the site every time I checked. Good luck with your allocation!

Awhfy - based on our experience maybe you do stand a good chance of an upgrade if there is no Concierge or Aqua availability. Come back and let us know what happens!

Thanks. Hoping for a good result too.

Every time I try to get in, it tells me come back in 20 mins or can't handle the request at the moment. So frustrating! So excited to see what we are going to get.

  12. I just checked my Celebrity account this morning, and lo and behold, we have been allocated. and it's still 5 months out!

I am over the moon - we booked a 2D balcony guarantee, and got a 1B - deck 8 midship on the hump!! Really never expected that - I was just hoping to be lucky and not get a 2D, and maybe get a 2C, so I am totally thrilled.

Now the question is - what is the likelihood of it being changed/downgraded? Is there anything I can do to prevent this - ie call Celebrity and ask them to put a no changes note or something?

    Great news!

We are booked on a 2b guarantee (was all that was left when we booked) and are waiting with baited breath to see what we get.

Where did you see your allocation? When I can manage to get into the site (not very often mind) all it says on the express pass is deck 6 guarantee.

  13. Hi, have been reading and getting lots of information from you all, thanks. I have done a little cruising, Celebrity, Norwegian and we are about to do our 4th cruise with Princess. We have sailed on Diamond, Grand and Crown and are about to do Diamond from Tokyo to Sydney. After this cruise we will be Platinum members, and we're looking forward to getting some perks.

I have a question, my parents are travelling with us, and my 80 year old father has broken his ankle meaning he has very limited mobility. Does anyone have any tips on how we would be able to get him a disabled access cabin, so that Mum can help him with accessing the bathroom, and so he doesn't have to walk so far. When I rang Princess, they offered a shower seat, but having sailed on Diamond before I know that there is a step into the bathroom. Crutches aren't really an option, he has already fallen on them once.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
