  1. Firstly apologies for delaying in replying

We did the following excursions on ourvinfinity Panama cruise in November 2015

    1. Cartagena - we did the deluxe Cartagena & fortress

Enjoyed visiting the fortress and tour guide very informative - we were not aware of how many traders there would be on this trip

The historical buildings in the town were very interesting and we would have liked more time here, once again lots of traders.

    2. Colon - pre panama Canal transit - we did the expansion of the Panama Canal present & future

The highlight for us was the gatun locks observing the ships transit through

The past & future exhibition talk, viewing area and film show was also very interesting - the new Canal will be open when you go.

    3. Puntarenas costs Rica - excursion taken Pacific train, boat & bus adventure

Most enjoyable part on this trip was the tarcoles river jungle crocodile safari - tour guide ensured we saw plenty of wildlife.

Pacific train journey was interesting however saw more children than wildlife.

    4. Puerto quetzal Guatemala - excursion taken colonial Antigua past & present

Very interesting & informative tour - great to see the buildings and once again tour guide very helpful.

Lunch served was also very tasty. Be aware It was a 1&half hour bus journey each way. We felt it was worth it.

    5. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We did our own thing here as we had visited on a previous cruise. We took taxi into old town and did some sightseeing then headed back to ship but checked out the shopping mall first.

    6. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Once again a port we had previously visited so we hopped on a tender did our own thing walked along the harbours and had a few beers etc

    7. San Diego

Our end of trip port however a city we love again we spent time walking around and exploring visited seaport village before heading to airport.

Enjoy your cruise we loved Panama Canal cruise very different from Suez cansl which we did in November 2016.

We are currently looking at excursions for our Alaskan & Pacific coastal cruises in September 2017 once again on infinity however not in aft balcony, we are cc this time - would have loved to have aft one again however too expensive we treated ourselves Fovthe Panama Canal as we were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary.

    Thank You Very Much !

  2. My husband and I had a c1 aft stateroom on infinity for our Panama Canal cruise and loved it.

Had some shade and an area in sun too.

The balcony had a large table with 4 chairs and 2 sun lounges.

It was ideal for our Panama Canal cruise, we also loved sitting and watching the ships wake and of course the sunsets too.

We did not feel that we were being looked at.

We are doing this cruise in April 2018 and have an Aft Balcony (Room 1140). I hate to impose, but could you provide any details on your cruise and any excursions you did ? Thanks !

  3. Just received notification that the Labadee port on our Reflection cruise departing 2/25/17 has been cancelled and changed to Key West. A post in our roll call thread indicated it was due to port congestion. The RC Harmony of the Seas ship is at the Labadee port 2/27/17, the same day we were scheduled to be there.

Does this happen frequently for the Labadee port if two ships are scheduled for the same day?

I think Harmony is 6000 passengers...

We are on the same cruise and have not received any notification. The X web site still has it going to Labadee

  4. I was on the opposite itinerary last year, San Diego to Fort Lauderdale. 15 nights.

First and foremost, I don't know your demographic, but we felt the cruise aged us out a little. At early 40s, we felt young on this ship, but granted, it is a much longer cruise. It felt like the average age was 60+, with a smattering of younger people. We were on our honeymoon, so this was expected and we weren't looking to party. But I have to say, the population on this ship left us in the dust. I only wish I'm that active at that age.

Food on Celebrity takes more chances, in my opinion. There are some hits, and some misses. The hits are generally good, but unfortunately, the misses were spectacular too. Even with those hiccups, they edged out ahead still, but not as much as they used to. A giant hit, especially if you drink wine, your own sommelier at dinner. That was amazing.

I'm not sure if its all cruises, Celebrity, or because it was a longer cruise than normal for me, but I started seeing a pattern in Celebrities' activities. It felt a little too structured for my taste. Every day, they would have similar activities at the same time. Show time, lectures, activities, they were all in the same time frame.

Ports. You get to stop at a couple places on the west coast that you would not be able to on a shorter cruise. West coast of Guatamala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua are great stops. The Volcano tour in Costa Rica was hit or miss. Apparently, clouds can come in and cause a total whiteout. I have to admit, the whiteout by itself was pretty impressive. Gives new definition to head in the clouds.

all in all, as much as I loved this itinerary and cruise, I will probably not go on it again, and if i do, it wont' be for another 20 years or so.

We are in between those ages, so looks like we will fit in :) What room were you in ? We are in 1140 and have heard mixed reviews in regards to noise level from the Theater

  5. We took the 16 day Panama Canal cruise on Celebrity Infinity late April/early May of this year. Miami to San Diego. It was an extraordinary cruise and great experience overall. Celebrity service, food, and the ship overall were excellent. The lectures every day were very good and the day you cruise the canal locks and through Lake Gatun is narrated by an expert. New locks open now. Most of the ports are very hot and extremely humid this time of year as it is the start of rainy season in May. If you prefer it a bit cooler or a bit less humid you might go earlier in the season.

If you don't mind me asking, how was the room you stayed in ? We are in 1140 and have heard both great and not so great reviews (noise from theater etc.)

  6. We are booked in Summit 1140 leaving in a few weeks. We were very excited, but worried now. I love quiet balcony reading and watching the wake with a glass of wine. A little music might be OK if not too loud or improv (e.g. high-energy Jazz), but not infomercials and "yacking" or "blasting" movies. Fingers are crossed. I will report as soon as we return.

We have noticed the trend of several cruise ships adding various sounds or activities to all public areas of ships. I do not know why those who travel to get away from noise, energy and stressful/hectic work lives are not afforded many areas of respite and quiet anymore unless you are on HAL ships where most are in bed by 8:00 or 9:00 PM. :)

I was particularly distressed to learn that the solarium is now a dance club at night! Hubby and I liked to go after dinner to relax in the T-pool and enjoy the quiet before retiring to our cabin or going to the late show depending on the days activities.

Thankfully, I am an occupational health professional with a very large supply of noise reducing ear plugs and ear muffs I can use if it gets too loud during daytime hours (don't want to spoil fun for others). Will complain if later at night or early morning.

We have this cabin on an upcoming cruise ... how was it ????
