    Thanks for the suggestions everyone but I rebooked to a Oasis cruise out of port canaveral. The savings on a cheaper fare on the LOS got ate up by the inflated expenses of hotel, transportation and increased air fare(from PA) from sailing out of Galveston.

    Thanks all! Online, Harbor House is showing no rooms for our June 2018 cruise. I guess it's possible to be fully booked. Maybe it's because I only entered one night stay in the search. I will call them. With Harbor House being next to the pier, do you literally just walk with your luggage straight to the terminal?

    Sailing on Liberty of the Seas in June 2018. First time sailing out of Galveston. Not looking for upscale, just something descent and clean and with port shuttle. The closer to the port, the better. Would be nice if within walking distance to restaurants. Thanks for any suggestions

    Unfortunately, I can't comment on snorkeling. I do plan to start to snorkel this cruise along with my daughter. Not sure when you are going but we are cruising next month. I'll try to remember to report back.

    Royal carribean has a beach break to red stripe beach. Not sure of if it's exclusive to RC. It's $29 for adults and discounted for children but don't remember what ages qualify. Red stripe beach is a no frills type beach where you are basically paying for transportation and everything else has a fee. The best part is it's really close(10 mins) to the port. Stay only as long as you wish because buses continually run back and forth. Never tried any of the food so can't comment on that but service was fine when ordering drinks. DJ and dancing as well. Nobody selling anything because they are kept away by beach staff/security. We did this once and rebooked for next cruise. Never did a all inclusive in Jamaica so can't compare.

    I agree to do just whatever makes you most comfortable. Would you be fine taking a taxi and picking a beach? Yeah, I feel confident saying that. But you do what you are comfortable with. If it were my wife and daughter alone, they would be doing only cruise line excursions in Jamaica. Your passport concern is a valid one.

    Adventure of the Seas post "dry-dock" review 1/14/17

    Already did a price check on flights just to get a idea. I didn't realize they put slides and a flow rider on her. I have a little one so those features are nice. Really would like to try a southern carribean itinerary. I'm on the harmony this April primarily because of the slides. Doesn't hurt that she is new and it'll be a first on this class for us.
