  1. Good to hear Lois I have always travelled as a couple and mainly on Silversea but now I am on my own was wondering if I should book one to see how I get on. I have booked a cruise in August on the Spirit, but my daughter is coming with me. But think I should also take the plunge a book solo cruise

  2. If I booked a balcony suite on Sky would a wheelchair fit in the room? My mother does not need it all the time so walking around the suite will not be an issue. I was going to book a mini suite but the only ones that are left on the cruise have a bath with a shower over it which she may struggle with. Any advice would be appreciated. many thanks.

  3. I could have written the reviews above as our experience was very similar, also my first Princess cruise. As others said the queues did improve on the last day but the lack of training of the bar staff was evident. When there was an experienced person running the bar it was a completely different experience. Most days we waited over 30 mins to get a drink which some people did find acceptable but it is not what I am used to on other lines. We were lucky and only waited once for dining as we had club class, but I would see the queues for those who had booked or not booked in the main dining rooms.

We had a quick embarkation and today when leaving it was so organized and I was very impressed with how efficient the process was in fact everyday leaving and returning to the ship was a great experience.

    Other postivies were

The medallion access to the room much better than having to find a card.

Find your ship mates on the app.

Food and staff in the speciality restaurants

Club class breakfast what excellent staff

  4. Thanks Travelcat - I am not a fan of fish and chips myself - I have lived in the US and Africa and now live in the UK so have a wide food likes. It was not the menu I disliked in fact the always available section in Compass Rose ensures that anyone would be happy with the choice. It was the tepid / cold food when it was served and small things like the tongs in the breakfast service were put under the heat lamps trying to keep the food warm but all it did was make sure you could not pick anything up. Dishes in buffet had been their too long some of the items were even dry like the beans for instance. The porridge was never warm. I was always served ice in my drinks when I said and please no ice. The worst was the attitude of the staff in the constellation theatre during check in for tours she was bordering on sarcasm forgetting that people had just walked in not hearing previous announcements as I got there early for mine I sat there in amazement.  I know that these are all small items but they all add up and you are probably correct I should of said something while was on the ship but while I was on holiday I prefer just to get on with it. Hope you have a wonderful trip and please understand it is still a good service but just not what I expected from a luxury line.

  5. I have to agree with most of the original poster review - I was on the cruise just before this and we did have some changes due to the weather but nothing Regent could do about this and they handled it well. But I was not unhappy with my experience but would I go on Regent again probably not. I think it is what you are used to and expect. The food was often cold which was a real shame and the chaotic breakfast ( I know I could have gone to Compass Rose but DH prefers a breakfast buffet)

I had staff pushing past me to get off the ship while for their time off which I know is precious but so is my holiday - I don't get that much time off work either. My experience of Chartreuse was different to OP is was excellent and the food was probably the best I have had on any ship and I do love La Dame on Silverseas but it was fantastic.

When the staff were eating in the restaurants especially breakfast I found the waiters standing talking to them some morning it took me ages to get a coffee. I have just mentioned a few of the niggles but it is meant to be a luxury line and I just did not feel it. Once again I know I could of complained but I am on holiday and just want to try and make the best of things and I just vote with my feet and will not book again.

  6. Today we had a stroll around Copenhagen and walked off some of the calories. This morning breakfast service was not great had to ask a number of times for coffee and when I got my toast it was cold and had to twice for that. Waiter was a bit grumpy first time I have experienced this on SS. Came back from town just in time for trivia which is always fun and the service in the lounge was excellent as usual.

  7. We have not eaten at La Terrazza yet except for Breakfast which we love the variety and I have ordered the eggs Benedict and today ordered an omelette we sat outside and it was really relaxing. Sun is out today which is great for a sea day. Last night we ate at the grill again as I love it there. We had a fantastic evening with the guitarist singer in Dolce Vita until midnight he just keeps singing anything from Eagles to Ed Sheeran. He has a fantastic voice and I would recommend. I did ask Moss if he was going to perform one evening as I do enjoy his performances but headoffice has put a stop to cruise director performances which is ridiculous. Otherwise still having a fab time will post pics later.

  8. 3rd day in St Petersburg and have had a wonderful time. Yesterday we had a driver and guide booked through SS and it was worth it. Private tour of Hermitage and many other historic attractions. Ate at the restaurant next to the Vodka museum, had various types of Vodka including horseradish. All good on the Spirit we leave for Estonia later today

  10. Had a lovely dinner at Silver Note with some great company ended up being one of the last to leave. Food different concept to Stars but I had the Octopus and the Vegtables and DH had 2 starters and the confit Duck, you can choose how spicy you like each dish. This morning we went to a martini demonstration which was well attended. In my opinion this cruise so far has been the same high standard as usual so the problems others have experienced since the stretch seemed to be ironed out
