I hope you get some relief. Finally found the photo of the monstrous window washer on the MSC Seaside. There's actually a Youtube video out there from room 13275 where this thing is parked dead center of the balcony.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if I knew in advance and the cabin was discounted.

Not knowing of a partial obstruction and paying the same as everyone else in that category is totally unfair.

I would forward my concerns via email to: customerrelations@princesscruises.com

Attach a note, Word file, whatever, detailing your issue and your disappointment. Be polite. Include your contact information - including phone number.

    Thank you.

It moves. It's the window washing platform for the decks above. On newer ships it doesn't project down so much. It moves on a built-in rail. That is it's parked position. It wouldn't bother me that much, but maybe Princess should list that room as obstructed.

Thanks for the picture which I wish we had seen prior to booking. I did do a Google search for reviews of that particular cabin but nothing came up. Hopefully others will now be forewarned which was why I created the post.

  4. Just wanting some feedback on a problem we encountered on a cruise we went on a few months ago.  Unbeknown to us, there was a maintenance cage parked for a whole 14 days to the right of our balcony which impeded part of our view.  We booked the cabin on the advice of the Future Cruise Consultant onboard a prior cruise. The Princess website shows Cabin A747 on the Sapphire as having "outstanding views from a private balcony".  This cabin was not discounted in any way yet neighbouring cabins did get outstanding views.

We would never have booked this cabin had we known the maintenance cage we going to be by our balcony.  We did go down to Reception straight away to complain and was told they would shift us to another cabin if one became available but that didn't transpire.  Our TA has forwarded a complaint on behalf of us to Princess but seven weeks later we have still not had a response.  So a warning to all cruisers - don't book Cabin A747 on the Sapphire.  Apart from that, we did have a wonderful cruise.

Our cruise finishes there on Oct 4.  Maybe we'll forgo our planned 4 day stay and come straight home.  Disappointing as haven't been there before.

We're in Hong Kong now on our way home from a cruise and haven't seen any sign of trouble. Protests appear to be only on the weekend and in a very small area easily avoided. It would be a shame not to experience this vibrant city, especially at night.

In the past I have been able to look up a cruise and put it aside in the “saved” area to bring back at a later time.  For the life of me I can’t find it in the new format.  Perhaps I’m missing something...any ideas?

If using a smartphone, login, go to menu and under your name should be three tabs Deals, Account and Saved.

  7. We used Dora the Explorer last month.IMG_5077.thumb.JPG.4efd126a4d386a803a727d2b1407da14.JPG She was excellent and we were thankful for her air-conditioned van to sightsee in as it was very hot and humid. The street vendors knew her so they didn't bother us. Cost was $65 each payable at the end of a four hour tour. We were in a group of about 12 people. We met up with her at the end of the pier as instructed near the bird sanctuary which was very enjoyable to wander through at the end of her tour (free). She has great reviews on Trip Advisor.

We have been there twice several years ago.  Sounds like now however it is a good idea to stay with the tour and not go wandering off on your own.  It is a beautiful country but the political scene is bad and the poverty is depressing.

Good advice Satxdiver. We actually drove through a political protest but the police presence was reassuring. When driving to Masaya police had road blocked side roads near the port and they escorted the bus at various points. The Masaya Market was within a stoned wall complex and we saw a man patrolling the perimeter with an AK47.  Even up at the volcano there were three armed police watching over us.  In Granada we could venture around the town square on our own but we saw police hidden out of sight in doorways. I'm quite sure Princess would avoid the port if there was any risk to passengers and they will be actively monitoring the situation.

  9. We were on the Island Princess which berthed in San Juan Del Sur early October. We did a Princess tour and there was a noticeable armed police presence everywhere we went so felt quite safe.

  10. How is to your sail date can you purchase obc through the cruise personalizer?
Sorry not sure but you can get a full refund 72 hours prior to sailing date if you wish to cancel the purchased onboard credits so guess you can purchase up to 72 hours prior. Someone else may know.

  11. OK here I go with another dumb question. Where do you see on your personaliser the exchange rate you were initially given?

I don't believe you can see it but you can work out if the exchange rate is advantageous to you. I believe when buying onboard credits they in blocks of US$25, US$50 and US$100. Your cruise personaliser will show how much it is to buy each block in your local currency. If wanting to buy US$25, divide 25 by what you need to pay in your currency and that will give you the exchange rate. Just brought some onboard credit today using NZ Dollars and it worked out favourably for me.
