If you plan on going on more Ncl cruises you can get $500 dollars in free money by buying a cruise next 4 $250 coupons for $500 dollars. Some times they allow you to use 2 coupons for a balcony cabin.

Yes, we have done that a few times. We actually did this last year so we still have 3 cruises to do.

  2. We always sail in October and haven’t had a problem. We are going on the Dawn in 2019 out of New York. We are going on the Bliss in November this year through the Panama so I can’t comment on that ship. We have been on the Dawn before and there was an amazing singing duo on board that played most night in the atrium that made the cruise amazing. We are crossing our fingers that Jose and Patti will be on the Dawn next year when we sail.

It's great to hear Jose and Patti are still playing. They are fantastic. They made our cruise over the top,

  3. Since we typically book the cabin category that we want, I usually throw a minimum bid on an upgrade just to see what happens. If we get it, fine. If we don't, that's fine too.

On the Getaway I bid $25/pp for a balcony --> mini-suite upgrade. It was accepted right at the 48-hour deadline. YMMV.

So, I wait to see if I get an email for upgrade and go from there. We are in inside cabin now.

  4. 1. I guess you don't just get upgrades anymore, not that I ever did; now you have to bid on them. If I get that chance, what would a balcony normally go for?

    2. There was not even a roll call yet for my southern Caribbean cruise on the Jade in December so I sort of started one. Not sure what I'm doing. No one has started a Meet and greet either. Is there somewhere I can go for info on this? Are there any perks for heading a Meet and Greet? Don't know where to start.

    TIA.

    Linda

  5. My step-daughter just returned a week ago from a Bahamas Booze Cruise on the NCL Sky - open bar included. Told me about seeing people yakking up into the pool and hot tubs.

And they say Carnival is bad......

That could happen on any cruise. We went on a "booze cruise" and never saw anything like that but if there had been, I'm sure the staff would have been right on it. We have been on 6 NCL cruises and the only one we weren't impressed with was Pride If America. We went to Alaska on HAL a couple years ago. Food was great but activities and entertainment was boring. I love the casualness of NCL.

  6. Hi all!

I stayed at Broadway@ Times Square, an Applecore hotel for only $209.99 + tax after the Vista TA in Nov.. The location is primo, near Times Square & I actually walked to the hotel from the port. A breakfast & free wifi is included plus there was a microwave in the breakfast area where I heated up some food bought on the free walking tour. I'd spend a little more if possible to stay in Manhattan & be close to things.I <3 New York!

    ~ Jo ~ :)

Thanks. I'll check it out. E are considering canceling cruise and going back to Maui instead. Cheaper there than New York and warmer. :D

  7. First question - are you flying into Newark?

My suggestion would be to look at the Hilton Newark Penn Station which is about $153/night tax included if you join Hilton Honors. The hotel offers a free airport shuttle and free basic wifi as a HH member. Most important it has a skybridge connection to Newark Penn Station for access to NJ Transit ($5.25/pp to midtown New York Penn Station) and PATH ($2.75/pp to to downtown World Trade Center area. Actual train rides are 22-25 min.

If you stay in Newark, this could be an all day tour option for you with NJ pickup at the Hilton - http://www.newyorktoursnyc.com/pickup-locations.html#Newark.

    Haven't

booked flight yet. Will fly into whichever airport is cheapest from Las Vegas. Thanks for the info. That may be a great option and will definitely check it out. What are options from there to cruise terminal? Thank you!

  8. We will be cruising on the NCL Gem out of Manhattan terminal. We are considering taking the 6 hour full day tour the day before. We would be there on Oct 5 or 6. No idea where to stay. Was thinking maybe LA Quinta? And using Lyft or Uber from airport and to terminal and to tour? . Is tour good idea? Thoughts? Not even sure of airport but from what I've read, just choose best deal? Thanks

  9. I don't know about Bill but I was on this cruise in November and that is a fact. You cannot get off the ship unless you go in excursion. After they go back through the canal and port in Colon, Panama you can get off. Hope this helps.

    Bill

Could you please tell me where you got the info regarding "only ship excursion" from Gatun. Thank you

  10. We have been in everything from insides to mini suites, we always ask for, and have always received robes.

OP-ignore these haters...they have nothing to do but be tacky:cool:

Is easy to ignore these irritants. Their parents obviously never taught them manners, such as "if you can't say something nice, than say nothing at all.

I enjoy a robe in the morning while getting ready for my day. And I do t pack one because it takes up too much room! Duh! Lol

  11. It was me who originally posted this and I have to say........I DID go parasailing and I was very nervous going up but it was worth every penny and every minute! I say DO IT!!!!!!!! You will love it! Just force yourself to swallow your initial fears and also keep your eyes open so that you don't miss anything because it goes so fast.

    Have fun!!!

The part that scares me is $80 for 5 minutes of thrill. But it sounds like fun!

  12. It looks like your cruise is a partial transit cruise, in that case you will not be able to do private shore excursions in Panama. When the ship reaches Gatun Lake after locking through Gatun Locks, only passengers who have purchased shore excursions through the ship are permitted off. If you elect not to take a shorex you can get off the ship when it docks in Colon, however there is not enough time for any excursion.

Edit: I looked at NCL for your sailing and they offer two Eco cruises on your sailing... eco cruise and Gatun Locks or eco cruise on Gatun Lake and Monkey Island.

    Shoot. Thanks for the info!

  13. Will be on Pearl 11/28-12/8. I'm looking at the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake jungle eco cruise. Has anyone ever done it? I can't find a website but it's offered through Trip Advisor and Viator. Don't know if they pick you up at Port. It says it leaves from Central Panama City. Sounds like a fun tour. Wish they had it through NCL.
