  1. I just did the Jewel in January this year and I stayed at the Hilton which is not too far from the Port walking but we took an Uber which was quick since we had luggage. It is an amazing hotel. The Four Seasons is literally right by the port and I believe there was a Hyatt as well. You are going to Love Sydney. So much to do so plan plan plan. The Opera House, The Rocks, The Bridge, Do a Bike Ride with Bonza Bike Tours, they take you all over Sydney. It was a great morning Bike ride into early afternoon. Have a great time. Def book your hotel EARLY if you end in Auckland. Its super expensive for Hotels there. we ended up paying like $500 a night for the Hilton Auckland but it is literally right outside the port on the water. also a beautiful hotel.

  2. This is why im liking the price hike in the Haven....eventually parents who could bring 3-4 children will opt to do an AI resort. I wish they would stop offering free 3rd & 4th person for Haven rooms too. On the flip side I haven't seen a bad kid in the Haven yet. Usually well mannered and usually wanted to be by the water slides. I see them in the haven pool because the parents don't want to leave and sit by the main pool for their children to have fun. Maybe try booking Regent or Oceania.....the Ritz Carlton is coming out with a cruise ship too!

  3. They will respond....take way more than 2 weeks but they are really good at responding. think about how many people probably email them at any given time with all the ships they have, every week between 2-4k passengers per ship. Any time I have emailed them it has taken a 30-45 days for a response but I always got one. Just be patient :)

  4. It is an easy stress-free drive from Tauranga to Rotorua all on nice roads. For our upcoming cruise we've a rental car booked and will head to Rotorua for the day.

Awesome! Where did you book the rental if you don’t mind me asking??

  5. Hey everyone,

I am sailing AZ/NZ on the NCL Jewel Jan 21st. One of the stops is Tauranga and booked a Zorbing excursion in Rotorua about an hour away. My question for everyone who has experience, Is it easier to rent a car right at the port or pay half the price and rent from the airport a few miles away? wondering if it more of a hassle or not. any info would help. Too bad the cruise line doesn't offer this as an excursion or else I would have just booked with them.

  6. I have my Australia cruise this January and its a 10 day with 6 ports and only 32 excursions and hasn't changed in the last 8 months. usually they open way more around the 60 day mark but have not. I called NCL yesterday and the Shore Excursion dept said these seem to be the only excursions they plan on offering which was really strange since my Greek Isles cruise this Spet 2018 already has 100 excursions available. and the options feel like slim pickings too.

  7. The sundeck sounds like its not part of the pool area. I imagine this wont be a problem unless its really crowded there which I bet its not. The people who paid the big bucks for Haven pool area will be lounging there and not the sun deck. However if the access to the sundeck is through the Haven area it could be a problem. Its all going to come down to the concierge. Enjoy your cruise.

The sundeck is part of the Haven pool area. You need to get to the sundeck through the pool area. There are stairs from the pool up to the deck. The Concierge should not be giving anyone access that isn’t a Haven traveler. All my Haven cruises I saw Concierge actually removing people who were not Haven guests who were so well mannered.

  8. I am headed to Australia in January on the Jewel and I could have chosen to get a 2 bedroom suite for 7k but opted to stay in the Haven for 12k in a 2 bedroom to have the ability to stay in the Haven....I don’t think they should have any rights to hang out in the Haven because you are booked in it and they didn’t pay the additional money for it, regardless if it dead or not. The main pool is also dead on port days. You can def enjoy that with your friends. That’s why you pay more for the Haven. I agree with the other poster who said you could have read threads before asking lol it’s always a touchy subject. There should be no exceptions. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin your cruise.

  9. Hi

I have done both, The Jewels haven is much smaller, no restaurant or private bar like on the away ships,no huge sundeck. We usually book the forward facing penthouse on the jewel class ships because of the size of the balcony its HUGE. We are leaving this Saturday on the Jewel and booked 9502.

Im sure you will enjoy it just dont expect a haven like on the Breakaway

    Enjoy!!!

thank you! yeah I wish it was an away class doing Australia but I am not going to complain. It will be my first Jewel class ship and I always hear great things about the size and service. We just love the haven away from all the craziness of sea days on the sun deck

  10. Hey everyone, Just a question to those who have sailed in the Haven on both the Jewel Class and Away class....I have only sailed on the large ships in Haven multiple times (Epic, Getaway, Escape) with the exception of the Dawn which I loved. I just booked the haven on the Jewel for Australia in January and wondering the experiences people have had sailing that Haven vs the large Away class with their own restaurants, lounge etc...Con's Pro's anything will help me :)

  11. Very disappointed in the entertainment that was announced. Its average at best. NCL used to have 2 or 3 major acts for their new ships. The ship is very nice but I don't think the entertainment is going to woo many people.

I agree.....they Have Million Dollar Quartet, and After Midnight. They need to bring something like Legally Blonde or Priscilla to this ship. kind of over these blast from the past Broadway shows. But you never know it might be a good show but I wasn't excited reading it.
