  1. I'm researching beaches etc for my upcoming Magic trip going to Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel.  Plans set for Grand Cayman and Cozumel, but looking for suggestions in Mahogany Bay and Belize.  It looks like Mahogany Bay is similar to Grand Turk, in that, you can get off the ship and have access a free beach with a free beach chair relatively close.  Is that correct?  And if so, why would Carnival sell an excursion for something you can do for free?

Also, any tips for Belize?  We've got snorkel lovers and white sand beach lovers on this trip.  Usually hard to find both at the same beach.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Sailing in 71 days woohoo!!

  2. Probably a stupid question:eek:, but here goes:

Do they still show movies if it's raining? This is only my 2nd cruise- my first was on the Splendor and it has a roof that closes during bad weather.

  3. Thanks cb at sea.

Now my cruise is 2 weeks away!! I'm looking for a little more help~

Are there any good snorkel spots within walking distance of Seagrapes? I've read on these boards about Eden rock and Cemetery beach. Also interested in Governor's reef and Cheeseburger reef- where are they in relation to Seagrapes?

Any recent visitors that could review any of these spots for me? All info is much appreciated!

  4. I'm trying to find some place along 7 mi beach to snorkel. I know that the beach area doesn't have the best clarity.

According to what I read, Cemetery reef is supposed to b good, but looks like its kind of far away from everything.

It may not be called Governors Reef, but is off shore from the Governors mansion. This seemed like a good option. I would like to snorkel, the rest of the family not so much. LOL

We have our own gear and plan on using the local bus.

    Thanks!

So it's nearly 2 years later...

How did it go? Did you find some snorkeling? I'm in the same boat (pun intended, lol). I want to snorkel while the family wants a lazy beach day. Did you find a way to make everyone happy??

  5. I'm heading to Grand Cayman for the 1st time in January with a party of 10. Some people want a soft sandy beach, others want a beach with decent snorkeling.

From what I've learned on these boards, you can't find both at the same beach.

Is it realistic for us to try going to sea grapes for the sand, and having the snorkel crowd walk down to cemetery for the reef? They're both part of seven mile beach, but how far apart are they?

    Any other suggestions??

  6. Heading to Jamaica for the 1st time in January. Many threads on the boards say Dunn's River Falls is a MUST. We're going to try it. But what's the best option in getting there?

Carnival offers an expensive excursion... Thinking I may have to go that route, since I'm not an experienced traveler and Jamaica doesn't have the safest reputation among tourists.

  7. Thanks everyone, this has been very helpful!

I think we've got Cozumel figured out.

Still working on Jamaica. We'll probably head out to Dunn River Falls and then go to a beach. Looks like a few Carnival excursions offer this.

@Nic6318 The beach you mentioned sounds great!

  8. My family of 4 went on it in January. Malcolm was the cruise director and he was fabulous!

There is live music in the Spectacular Spectacular and in many other little venues on the ship.

The shows varied each night, but there were 2 nights without shows.

  9. Looking for suggestions on beaches in Ocho Rios and/or Cozumel for my January Breeze cruise. (Other stop is Grand Cayman and we plan to book a snorkel excursion).

In either port, is there a nice beach within walking distance?

Any help offered is much appreciated!

  10. Going on my FIRST cruise in January!! I'm interested in doing some laundry onboard so I can pack less and have room in my luggage to bring souvenirs home. I've heard there are self serve machines. Can someone please tell me: 1) where are they? 2) about how much they cost to use? 3) are there only a couple- will I have to do laundry at 3am in order to get a chance to use them Thanks for any help with this!
