  1. Will be cruising on Silver Seas for first time. We were long time Crystal Cruise loyalist but the new pricing structure on reincarnated Crystal is blahhhhh.

Anyway we will be on the Silver Seas Dawn in a couple of months and was curious if there are any dark and quiet bars in the ship. On Crystal we always went to Avenue Saloon at night which never had anyone in it before dinner (usually between 5-10 pm it was empty)

The only noise was the low key piano player. Any bars similar to this on Dawn? Connoisseur Corner appears to be what we are looking for but from what I can tell cigar smoking is allowed indoors there which is something we wish to avoid. So anything else?

Thanks in advance. P.S. anything else I should know about Silver Seas coming from OLD Getting Hong Kong Crystal not the New AK Crystal.

  2. Going back to Royal for "a" cruise after a long hiatus. Crystal has become our main line.

When we cruised Royal we use to book Chops and Chef's table. We are going to do 3 night cruise only and was wondering about Ultimate Dinning Package.

I assume it doesn't apply to Chef's but can I use the $35 credit for Chef's?

Also being that it's only 3 days there will be no sea days so does that mean Chops and Giovanni won't be open for lunch at all?

    Thanks

  3. How often does Crystal sail out of Ft Lauderdale?

The have a few sailings sometimes in middle of year (March, April or May) then a few at end of year (November or December).

Since both their ships travel the world we try to do a few Fort Lauderdale trips when they end up here those times and do destinations one too. (Europe, Alaska etc).

  4. Why on earth would you come back to Royal after sailing Crystal? If we didn't have kids we would never sail Royal again.
We live 10 minutes from Port. So we book as many Crystal Cruises as possible then do random 3 days in GS when we are bored and time permits.

The difference is night and day but it's cheaper than staying home for the weekend pretty much.

  5. Oh, wait, I see. Those prices looked low because the 3 nighters came up first.

Although I don't see how that helps Garavar. It just doesn't seem to shortcut or offer more information.

Because I can filter length, departure etc. Then sort low/high price
For WHATEVER reason I couldn't find a single suite (other than JS) available on ANY ship even over a year out, on the RCI site. But using the link provided above... VOILA.
    Exactly ;)

  6. How do you like Crystal? We have two young kids so I don’t think it’s the kid friendliest line, but someday we may be able to get someone to watch them and we could go on a cruise with just me and the wife.
We love Crystal, it's like being at the Mandarin (or Four Seasons) on water. The food, Service, everything is 5 star.

It is kid friendly just not entertaining. They cater to the children just like an adult. Plus on some sailings the kids sail free. Just not many activities for them.

  7.

My daughter is currently an Emerald member; one point from Diamond. I would think that RCI would want to entice a young professional couple by showing their best efforts!:confused::confused:

My fiancé and I are 32 and 33 years old. We are Diamond and cruise in Suites only. We are likely if we get our Diamond Bottles of water when we board without having to ask the loyalty advisor.

Royal doesn't care. They are billion dollar company.

Have them sale Crystal. They give us a bottle of Caymus for anniversaries and on birthdays Caviar breakfast.

  8. What caused you to fall? I am an injury lawyer and yes I have sued Royal as well as all the other lines.

I ask not to solicit, but because some lines advise their customer service not to call an injured customer because it can be taken as admission of guilt.

You file is given to RC's adjusters (they are self insured) to then call you but it takes time.

All I can say is if it was RC's fault. Then don't talk to anyone but the lawyer you hire.

  9. This thread is getting to be a joke.
Isn't every thread on CC a joke?
Loyal Royals think the food is great; they won't go on another cruiseline and don't break routine at home. They are comfortable in not knowing what they are missing.
My fiancé is like this about dessert. She is a Registered Dietitian and won't try a dessert she has never had because she might like it, crave it, seek it and get fat.

She believes if she never has the dessert she won't know what she is missing. It's a good strategy since she is a bone and I am a house. She eats nasty diet desserts and moans thinking they are so delicious.

Anyway the Loyal Royals are the same, comfortable with Royal, not knowing what they are missing. But if they ever go on Crystal get a taste of 6 star, they will likely forever be tainted and unable to return to the Diet Cruise Line.

  10. I have been on Crystal once many years ago on the Harmony to Alaska, I had a suite booked on Celebrity when my agent called me about a great deal on Crystal it was I think one day longer we had an outside cabin but no Balcony.

Price was about the same, the difference was night and day all along the line. Like going to a Lexus dealership for service vs a Ford dealership. Crystal had someone meet us at the gate when our plane arrived and took us down to baggage claim to get our luggage picked up and they had porters with carts to take our bags to the bus. Somehow my suitcase did not make the flight from Denver. The Crystal person spoke with the United folks and they had put my bag on the next flight which was about an hour after ours. they stayed with us at baggage claim until my bag arrived then made sure there was a bus to take us to the ship.

Happy hour with appetizers before dinner the waiters knew the food I liked or didn't after the first couple of nights and always brought me more of what I liked or they thought I would like and never even walked by me with bacon wrapped liver!

Drinks order once and the bartender knew your drink the next day.

Now this was a while ago so Crystal may have changed. But just like I will splurge on a rental car now and then I always look for a great deal on Crystal or any of the higher end ships.

It's still like this, the staff have an awesome memory and really care. They will also go above and beyond for service, read my VISA thread on this form.

Long story short I used Crystal's preferred vendor to get Brazil Visa. They couldn't get it done in time due to issues with DC Consulate. So a Crystal rep flew from Florida to DC Brazilian Consulate, picked up our Passports, flew back to Florida met us at the port, so we can get on with our passports, then he flew to Argentina's Brazil Consulate, got the Visa and Flew to the entry port in Brazil to meet the ship and give us our Brazil Visa.

That's customer service. RC would have probably just refunded us, or not refunded and told us too bad so sad. Don't know which.
