  1. Thank you for the additional photos!  Did you happen to notice if they still offered Bocce Ball?  Now that that grass area has been removed on either side of the sunset bar I am wondering if they allow you to play in the main part of the Lawn or if they no longer have Bocce ball as an option.

We’re leaving next week, so haven’t gone yet. But the closer it gets the more scared I get.

I am sure it will be a great family trip and your little one will love it.  Enjoy!

We are taking our 13 month granddaughter, and her parents, on a cruise. Parents get to play and we get days to visit with our granddaughter. Staying on the ship in non-stroller friendly ports while her parents enjoy exploring port. Grandparents dream cruise.

Both sets of grandparents will be joining us for the Celebrity cruise and are so excited to spend a week creating new family memories with their first grandchild. I wish you and your family a fantastic cruise !

We've returned! Had a blast, despite a few temper tantrums!

For those of you curious, we ended up taking a taxi to Horseshoe, and bringing our Cosco Scenera car seat. Honestly, we were probably the only ones. There were tons of babies, toddlers, and young children in the Baby Beach section, but no car seats to be seen. There were strollers everywhere on the beach, so my guess is that most people used the minibus shuttles or rode in the taxis without car seats. From the reactions of our taxi drivers, that's probably the norm. Our first driver was concerned about the car seat leaving marks on the back seat, and the other asked us without any snark "What's the purpose of the car seat? You don't just hold the babies in your arms back home?" When we explained about possible accidents, the response was "We never had those seats in old times, and everyone turned out OK." I definitely don't fault the taxi drivers. Even in NYC where I live, car seats aren't required in yellow city taxis, though they are in private cars. I imagine people could get questions like that at any port.

We used a car seat gate check bag that was pretty cheap from Amazon to keep sand out of the seat, and it worked great. No sand anywhere! We didn't need belt clips at all in the taxis we used, though we had them with us.

Also, my husband had to remove the car seat from the gate check bag both coming off and getting back onto the ship (Anthem). His backpack even got searched leaving the ship, while I walked straight out with the baby in the carrier. This would have been annoying with just one adult, so something to keep in mind.

All in all, we would do the same thing again, especially with a 1 year old. It was worth it to us for a comfortable, safe, private ride. The Scenera was super light for my husband to carry, and I wore baby in a carrier any time we walked, so that I could have free hands. The taxis to/from Kings Wharf to Horseshoe were $33 each plus tip, and easy to get. There was always someone asking what type of transportation we wanted, and the cabs were right there - no wait.

Thank you for the update!  Very helpful as we will be heading to Bermuda with our ten month old in a few weeks.

  5. Great list! I found this forum really helpful as we will be taking the same exact cruise next month.  Is there anything you wish you had taken but didn’t? Any other tips you learned during the cruise? Hope you had a wonderful time!

  6. Hi Everyone! Looking for any and all tips and recommendations for cruising with an infant.  This will be our first cruise with our 10 month old daughter.  We are experienced cruisers, however this will be our first with a baby and any helpful tips anyone is willing to share will be most appreciated.  I just learned today that both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean will provide 44 jars of organic baby food free of charge if ordered 40 days prior to sailing.  I am wondering if there are any other things that may be included that we are not aware of.  We will be taking a 7 day Bermuda Cruise on Celebrity Summit and a 9 day New England cruise on Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas. We are Elite Status on Celebrity and Diamond Status on Royal Caribbean in case that helps with any perks that may be offered for a baby.  Thanks!

  7. Does anybody know if the May 2017 dry dock is confirmed? We are sailing Connie on June 5th. It would be great if they added the World Class Bar but I have only seen this on S-class to date. Happy to have Qsine added if that is true.

We are also sailing on Connie on June 5th :) And I agree about wishing the refurb would include the World Class Bar. I know it is wishful thinking. I even called the captains club to see if they would confirm all the changes that Connie would undergo in dry dock, and no luck there either.

  8. We've just come back from an Azamara Journey cruise which also stopped in Kotor. This was actually our 3rd visit there, but this time we decided to go by ourselves - to have more flexibility with the planning of the tour, the stops and all the other stuff . I found Dimitrije (the Mont Travellers - which somebody else has also mentioned here). We did a 6 hours tour with him which included Budva, Perast and much much more (we went up and down the mountains). The price was more than reasonable too! As you don't have that much time you can opt for something shorter- like 4 hours. I recommend Dimitrije very warmly! Just mail him on monttravelers at gmail.

Thanks for the recommendation with Mont travelers! My husband I will be in Kotor in June and prefer private tours over the ship operated tours with the large busloads.

  9. We just got off the Celebrity Constellation this week, from our Adriatic cruise. Kotor is a beautiful port, and an interesting town to wander about. I found the shops touristy with bunches of shops selling knick-knacks, rather than local crafts and nice things. However, I am not a shopper so I may be the wrong person to ask.

I did walk up the mountain---the one thing that I wanted to do in Kotor. Great walk in blue sky in October, but I would not want to do in the summer. I went with a group from the ship on a tour, because I wanted to find out about the history of the area, the role of Montenegro in the Serbian-Croatian war, and the daily life of the Montenegro people. Our English high school teacher was perfect to get that info from. If I had just wanted to hike up the mountain, that would be no problem without a tour guide. The way up in STEEP, with very smooth rocks in lots of places. Would NOT do this walk when it has rained. There were lots of people going up and down the trail. PRobably took about 90 minutes going up, and half hour going down. You will have to take water, and stop along the way, but the views are gorgeous. There are no handrails per se, but there is a rock wall that can be used most of the time.

I am 65 years old and work out, so I am in good shape, but my husband could not have done this hike. Instead, he went on a tour in a coach--Cetinje, Budva, and others. He really liked the tour and the scenery. The town can be seen in an hour, no problem. Lots of old buildings and walkways in the town, but no gorgeous scenery.

The cathedral is Tryphon, interesting but not astounding.

The best thing that I did was sit at an outdoor cafe and have a bowl of mussels with a glass of wine. Perfect!!

Was the path for the hike easy to find? My husband and I will be in Kotor in early June and are thinking of doing this if the weather cooperates. I am wondering how easy it is to do on our own. In Akora, New Zealand last year we tried to do a hike on our own and the path was impossible to find. Thanks for your insights!
