Well I think you are absolutely going to LOVE it! We are post-cruise since I asked that question and I have to say that by far, Bonaire and the golf cart was our favorite experience of the whole cruise (in terms of excursions). We walked off the ship and straight to their tent where someone was waiting to mark our names off a list. She then directed us to the main location to pick of the cart. We received a brief orientation and were provided with a map, and off we went. We did both loops, which I highly recommend as the scenery is so different on each one. Be sure and bring water and sun screen and a couple of towels in case you want to sit out and watch the kite surfers. There is a little storage basket in the back of the cart for your things. This bar, on the tip of the south loop is not to be missed. We stopped here for a light refreshment before making the last leg toward the boat. I hope you enjoy!
Thank you so much for your response. One month to go and I am getting so excited. We will definitely have a drink at this bar and do a toast to you!

Thank you for the suggestion. I think Trikes would be fun, but after showing the wife them she is a little nervous about me driving in Aruba. We have had close calls driving in other Caribbean islands.
You don’t take the trikes out by yourself. You all play follow the leader with one of their employees leading you around the island. It’s like a tour but you drive yourself. We have done it twice.

I was curious about that as well!
You pay the day you rent them. You can either put the deposit on credit card or pay in cash. They send you a very detailed email when you reserve the carts. The email should answer most of your questions.

What was the cost to rent for the day?
We are renting one in February. The price is $95 for the day.

Thanks...I hadn’t thought of the ship departure times.
Tom😀
We were on it too. Ship didn't depart until 5 p.m. because of Fleet Week. There was no reason that we had to get off that early. We were on it for Fleet Week last year, and didn't have to disembark until 4 p.m. I believe this will be our last BVE. We were also supposed to get a photo-it was never printed. We were told someone else picked it up. Not true...

Next trip for us in Feb so maybe if they get their insurance money in June they will have made progress by then. It will be interesting to see what type of structures they build this time.

We heard that they are going to be required to build different types of structures. Ones that can be moved if there is a hurricane threat. This is what the insurance companies are requiring. Don’t know if it is true, but that is what our tour guide told us.

Hoping somebody goes to Orient in the next few months and posts an update. We know there is at least some places up and running on the clothing optional side.
Still hard to believe that it is May 8 months after the Hurricane and nobody has started to rebuild.
Maybe The government won’t allow it but you would think it would not be that difficult to set up a temporary facility.

According to our tour guide, one side of the island has gotten their insurance money. The French side is not getting their money until June, at the earliest, so unless they have cash upfront, there is no money to rebuild yet. That is why nothing has been rebuilt at Orient beach yet--no money.

We just got back from St. Martin--our tour guide wouldn't even go there. Said that there are no facilities, no restaurants, no bathrooms. You might want to try another beach.

Don't forget the Loyalty OBC. It is based on cruise credits.
20-30 credits = $25 OBC
31.-40 credits = $50
41-50 credits = $75
51 or more = $100
I guess I don't understand this post. Are you saying that if you have cruised before, you automatically get OBC? I have not gotten this yet. Do I need to contact them to get this? I'm confused.

Thank you for the update--we will also be there in six weeks and wanted to try and go there. Sounds like it might be OK for a few hours.

Thank you to everyone on this thread. I was so confused before I read all of your wonderful comments on what to do here. I really appreciate all of the information that was shared.
Does anyone know the local tour company who runs $20 city tours?
in San Juan, PR

We have done Tours by Locals in Europe. You went on a guided tour for about an hour and then tipped at the end of the tour. When I look up the website now, it looks as if they have a set price for their tours and the number of people it can accommodate. Do you no longer do actual “tours by locals” but rather a company runs the tours now? Just wondering if anyone has done any of these tours recently, especially in PR.
