  1. Vancouver is a very busy city and the drive from the cruise center is in the city . With 2 ships arriving, taxis will be at a premium and space on the sky train will be small with 4000 getting off the ship in a city of 3 million people at rush hour.

You will not make a 10:30 flight. You need to clear customs at the terminal even though you did customs at Canada Place.

Take a late flight when you are arriving in a different country.

  2. Last time i was on the Alaskan cruise we took the Skagway train to the Yukon and a lot of the US citizens did not take their passports, they were turned back at the change over point. The Yukon is Canadian soil.

Rule of thumb, take your passport on the ship and if you are going out to the Yukon put it in your back pack.

  3. If any of the stops (Victoria) are included, then you must have a passport. Also you Are sailing in Canadian waters and whether you really get off the ship, you do required to carry your passport.

Most ships a passport is listed as a requirement to board. Check you passenger contract

    Have a great trip.

  4. Coming in on the 12th of May, 3 ships in port.

We have a flight out at noon, and are not worried at all. I suspect we will be off the Ship by 9am, and at the Airport before 10 (taking the Skytrain), with loads of time to clear security, we should be having a Timmies/Starbucks in Departures by 10:30.

I have travelled to the airport via sky train, however, if your flight is before noon you are taking a chance. Today there was an incident which closed several boarding stations

I really hope that your timing allows you to make your flight.

I am local and i always advise staying the night to make sure everything goes as planned

  5. Need advice. We're U.S. citizens, scheduled to disembark a cruise in Vancouver. When we fly back home, we will likely fly Vancouver to Seattle and connect in Seattle to a flight home (Washington DC area on Alaska). Will we have to clear immigration and customs at the Vancouver airport, in Seattle, DC, all 3, or what? I need to figure out how long a connection time I will need in Seattle airport. What's a decent amount of time to allow? If it matters, this will be on a Saturday.

Yes you would clear customs at Vancouver international airport because you come into Canada at Canada Place then leave Canada at the airport . No you do not have to clear in Seattle or DC

  6. The punch cards

Recently Princess stopped allowing cards to be used on a subsequent cruise.

Up until this new rule, I have always taken them to the next cruise. It is just another money grabber, as if you only use 10 and there are 12 it is money in the cruise line ledger.

I also disagree with the beverage rule that everyone in the cabin must purchase the plan. My DH does not drink alcohol ?

  7. Wow thanks for letting me know about the serendipity luggage tag holders! I acutally found some on ebay at very reasonable prices!

Its such a hassle trying to find ways to connect the paper tags to your luggage!

You learn a lot on Cruise Critic! : - )

I use sheets of peel and stick 8 12/X11 label paper from our stationary store. I do not peel them. Just fold them and make sure the right side is out.

Then I fold them punch a hole in the ends and use a zip tie. Because the paper is thicker it really holds well. I put them in my carry on luggage, then attach before heading to the ship. They never come off. Try it you will be amazed :D
